Akhtar Usman is a renowned name of modern Urdu poem. He is a representative of classical traditions and also a guardian and bearer of new style. He is aware of the art of protecting himself from the flaws and shortcomings of the modern style because of his study about classical traditions of poetry. Due to deep insight of classic, Akhtar’s intellectual structure is energetic and stable. He successfully saves the ground from the process of poetry destruction in the name of innovation. Even if he composes a poem on a traditional topic, he maintains innovation and presents it in such a way that traditionalism does not overwhelm the subtlety of the poem. “Malhaar” is a traditional topic of Urdu and Hindi poetry. The tendency to create poems on the themes of ragas and raginis, combining the imaginative system of poems and songs with the visual perception of ragas is observed in Akhtar’s poetry that shows his musicology. Poetry and music are quite similar to each other in terms of their artistic compositional elements. Akhtar presents music in poetry in a unique style that is a combination of tradition and modernity. His poem under the title of “Malhaar” is an example of such poetry. This article is based on the stylistics used in “Malhaar”. The article compresses the tone of the poem, its lyrics and comprehension under the consequences of stylistics

Where the invasion of scientific inventions has eased the problems of man, it has introduced new problems as well. The problems of the modern age are also of a new type. These problems are not only limited to the identity crisis of the individual but also include the problems arising under the modern industrial system. Current affairs and contemporary issues have always been made a subject in Urdu fiction. However, the problems of the modern age are such a critical that every fiction writer cannot afford to subject them in writing.  Manto and Asmat took in their fictions the critical issues of their era.  On the one hand, they had to face resistance by readers and writers due to the violation of traditional themes. On the other hand, they themselves emerged as prominent names of resistance against social problems. In the present era, the example of Irfan Ahmad Urfi can also be taken so. He is not so prominent in the contemporary Urdu fiction scene because the reader has no insight to afford a second recitation after reading his short stories. His fiction is an open resistance against the evils of the modern age. In the article under review, an attempt has been made to present some colors of this resistance from his short stories. Keywords: scientific inventions, Industrial System, Irfan Ahmed Urfi, Manto, Ismat, Resistanc

Sulfides usually found in the wastewater produced by chemical and petrochemical industries such as tanneries, refineries, polymer industries. Removing sulfides from the wastewater is currently a big challenge to the industries because sulfides are soluble in water and various research and technologies have been studied and developed in order to remove sulfides content. In this project, the author is focusing on removing sulfides through oxidation process by using hydrogen peroxide as an oxidizing agent with the presence of nano-particles ferric oxide as a catalyst. Nano-materials are increasingly gaining the attention of the scientific community and also public due to their various applications in the industries for example as a catalyst. In this project, author will developed the procedure in preparing ferric oxide nano-particle as a catalyst and the application of it in sodium sulfide oxidation process. Basically three stages are involved, the synthesization, characterization and application. In application stage, the author will study two parameters of the oxidation rate that is catalyst loading and sulfide concentration. The effect of these parameters will be study by varying the variables for these parameters. The results shows that after the more catalyst added, the oxidation process increase by time and removal of sulfide can be achieve faster. The objectives for this project are to successfully produce nano-particle ferric oxide as catalyst and to apply it in the sulfide oxidation process. i

In the recent era, diabetes mellitus has emerged as one of the significant threats to public health and this situation demands the attention of the researchers and allied stakeholders. Dietary regimens using functional and nutraceutical foods are gaining wide range of acceptance and some traditional medicinal plants are of considerable importance. The main objective of this instant study was to explore the antidiabetic potential of Nigella sativa fixed oil (NSFO) and essential oil (NSEO). Three experimental groups of rats received diets during the entire study duration, that is, D1 (control), D2 (NSFO: 4.0%), and D3 (NSEO: 0.30%). Experimental diets (NSFO & NSEO) modulated the lipid profile, while decreasing the antioxidant damage. However, production of free radicals, that is, MDA, and conjugated dienes increased by 59.00 and 33.63%, respectively, in control. On the contrary, NSFO and NSEO reduced the MDA levels by 11.54 and 26.86% and the conjugated dienes levels by 32.53 and 38.39%, respectively. N. sativa oils improved the health and showed some promising anti-diabetic results

Introduction -- Nuclear disarmament: Tracing lessons from history -- Competing approaches: Identifying the gaps -- Contemporary security environment, new technologies and nuclear disarmament -- Bridging the gap: Creating a new security environment for nuclear disarmament -- Conclusion"This book focuses on comprehending the contemporary global security environment, creating a new roadmap for nuclear disarmament by creating a balance between deterrence supporters and disarmament advocators. The author identifies the divide between competing approaches such as traditional security-centric aspects and humanity-centered disarmament perspectives, tackling the complex question of how to balance some states' requirements for effective nuclear deterrence with other states' long-term desire for a nuclear-free world. The book explores how new technologies such as cyber and AI advances are available to more countries than nuclear technology, and could level the playing field for weaker nuclear weapons states. It also looks into the issues which continue to be obstacles in the way of convincing the nuclear weapon states (NWS) on nuclear disarmament. The author argues that the gap between deterrence supporters and disarmament advocators can be filled by creating a new environment for renewed consensus on achieving a world free of nuclear weapons. This book provides a deeper understanding and critical analysis of how global evolving parallel traditional security and normative trends relating to nuclear weapons can be bridged in order to make the disarmament debate practically achievable. This volume will be of great interest to students and scholars, researchers, policy makers, NGOs and members of the diplomatic community, in the fields of security studies, strategic studies and nuclear polic

Synthesis, structural and functional characterization of ultrasonic-assisted OSA modified tamarind seed gum

    No full text
Tamarind seeds are valuable yet underutilized biomass with significant potential for various practical applications. This study focuses on extracting the tamarind seed gum (TSG) and modifying it to develop a functional gum. Two modification methods were employed: treartment with 3 % Octenyl succinic anhydride (OSA) and ultrasonic-assisted OSA modification (20 KHz with power of 600W for 60 min), resulting in TSGOSA and TSGOSA-US, respectively. The modified gums were characterized based on their structural and physicochemical properties. The degree of substitution indicated that ultrasonic treatment enhanced the OSA chemical reactivity toward the gum. FTIR analysis confirmed that primary constituent of TSG is xyloglucans while the spectra of TSGOSA and TSGOSA-US verified the conjugation of TSG with OSA. Later, SEM results revealed the formation of surface pores due to OSA modification. Significant variations were observed in moisture content and pH while an antagonistic effect was noted in the color of modified TSGs. Among the samples, TSGOSA-US exhibited the highest swelling index (82.93 %), water holding capacity (17.30 %) and oil holding capacity (1.37 %). After this, emulsions were prepared with TSGOSA-US demonstrating the highest emulsifying capacity (100 %) and stability (87.10 %). In conclusion, the tamarind seeds biomass was effectively modified to enhance its functional properties, highlighting its potential for broader industrial and commercial applications

The Relationship Between a State’s Political Ideology and Timing of Nonpharmacological Pandemic Interventions: A Correlational Study

abstract: This project explorers the potential reasons for the discrepancies between state responses to the COVID-19 pandemic, with a particular focus on the possibility of a correlation between political ideology and a state’s nonpharmacological intervention policy timing. In addition to outlining the current literature on the preferences of conservative and liberal ideology, examples of both past and present scientific based pandemic responses are described as well. Given the current understanding of the social and economic dimension of conservative and liberal political ideology, it was hypothesized that there may be a positive correlation between conservative ideology and premature action by a state. Data was collected on the current ideological landscape and the daily COVID-19 cases numbers of each state in addition to tracking each state’s policy changes. Two correlation tests were performed to find that there was no significant positive or negative correlation between the two variables. (abstract
