The performance analysis of a unicast network when two protocols, SCTP (Stream Control Transmission Protocol) and TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) coexist in the network
Get PDFThis paper elaborates the performance analysis of a unicast network when two protocols, SCTP (Stream Control Transmission Protocol) and TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) coexist in the network. These two protocols are tested using File Transfer Protocol (FTP) and Constant Bit Rate (CBR) based traffic. From the simulations, it could be concluded that SCTP could achieve better throughput compared to TCP in both FTP and CBR based traffic, with sufficiently high fairness index of both intrafairness and interfairness. The increase of simulation time yields to the increase and relatively stable network performance. The increase of the number of sessions of small bandwidth applications resulted in the increase of troughput and link utilization. The simulations show that implementation of SCTP and TCP in a unicast network generally could be done without having to degrade the network performance, with relatively high fairness index, over 0.85 for various traffic variations

EFFECTS OF A PROBIOTIC MILK DRINK ON SALIVARY TUMOR NECROSIS FACTOR-ALPHA IN CHILDREN WITH ACUTE LYMPHOBLASTIC LEUKEMIA IN THE INDUCTION PHASE
Get PDF Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of the short-term use of a probiotic milk drink on salivary tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) during the induction phase of chemotherapy.Methods: A randomized, case-controlled clinical trial was carried out. The samples of the study were collected from 11 children with ALL and 11 healthy children as the control. Both groups received a probiotic milk drink. The probiotic milk drink contained Lactobacillus casei (6.5×109 colony forming unit/mL). The subjects were instructed to rinse 5 mL of probiotic milk drink for 30 s over the course of 2 weeks. Unstimulated saliva samples were collected from patients at baseline and 1 and 2 weeks after rinsing with the probiotic milk drink. The levels of TNF-α were determined using a human TNF-α enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kit.Results: The salivary TNF-α levels in the experimental group decreased but not to a statistically significant degree (p>0.05) when comparing the baseline with weeks 1 and 2 after rinsing. There was a significant decrease of salivary TNF-α levels in the control group (p<0.05) when comparing the baseline with 1 and 2 weeks after rinsing. The concentration of salivary TNF-α in the experimental group was higher than in the control group (p<0.05).Conclusion: This study demonstrates the effect of a short-term intake of a probiotic milk drink on children with ALL during the induction phase of chemotherapy. The results show a reduction of salivary TNF-α after taking the probiotic milk drink after 1 week and 2 weeks, although the results were not statistically significant.</jats:p

No full textPendahuluan: Salah satu penyebab impaksi gigi permanen adalah pergeseran gigi sulung ke arah diastema akibat kehilangan dini gigi sulung. Untuk mengukur kecukupan ruang gigi permanen pengganti, Nance (1943) mempopulerkan metode analisis ruang yang dikenal sebagai lee-way space analyis. Berdasarkan analisis ruang tersebut, ruang gigi permanen dapat dipertahankan dengan space maintainer. Kasus: Anak perempuan usia 5 tahun datang ke klinik IKGA RSKGM FKGUI dengan keluhan gigi geraham kiri atas berlubang. Pemeriksaan intraoral kerusakan mahkota gigi 64 lebih dari 3 bidang, diagnosis pulpitis irreversibel, interpretasi radiograf gigi 64 radiolusensi akar, pembentukan benih gigi 24 sampai servikal. Rencana perawatan gigi 64 ekstraksi dan band-loop space maintainer. Penatalaksanaan Kasus: Pengukuran jarak distal 63 mesial 65 sebelum (model studi I) dan setelah (model studi II) ekstraksi 64. Pengukuran mesial distal gigi 63, 65 dan jarak diastema 63-65 menggunakan digital calliper dengan akurasi 0.1, hasil pengukuran adalah available space 25 mm. Required space diperoleh 24 mm, melalui pengukuran lebar m-d gigi 23, 24, dan 25 pada foto radiograf periapikal dengan penggaris cm. Analisis ruang menunjukkan kecukupan untuk erupsi gigi 24, direncanakan pemasangan band-loop space maintainer. Pembahasan: Modifikasi analisis ruang metode Nance adalah mengukur jarak distal gigi 63-mesial 65 studi model sebelum dan setelah gigi 64 diekstraksi. Hasil pengukuran jarak sama karena belum terjadi pergeseran gigi sulung kearah diastema, sehingga ukuran dapat digunakan sebagai pengganti ukuran gigi 64. Kesimpulan: Modifikasi metode analisis ruang Nance dapat diterapkan sebagai pengganti ukuran gigi 64 (jarak distal gigi 63 hingga mesial gigi 65) dengan ketentuan gigi sulung tetangga belum bergeser kearah diastema
