Arabic ID-DGBL :an instructional design (ID) model for e-arabic teaching and learning
Educational games have been among teaching and learning aids in many disciplines of knowledge. The games are varying between traditional non-computer games computer or digital games. Every mode of educational games has its own history of existing, design and development frameworks, related learning theories, evaluation frameworks, development tools, genres of different games, findings and implications on certain fields, learners, theories, and so on.
This research project presents a report of case study that was conducted in Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) to design, develop and evaluate an online Arabic e-learning game among pre-university learners of Non-Arabic native speakers. The research process of this project begun with the literature analysis of 3 related theories of Nation [2003], Prensky [2007] and Mayer [2007]. The design and development of this games prototype are modeled on the methods and approaches of design and development research or DDR [Richey and Klein, 2007], or formerly known as developmental research [Richey, Klein and Nelson, 2004].
The prior needs analysis for the design and development of this games prototype was conducted among 113 out of 133 learners, and the correlational study was conducted after completion of this prototype among 100 learners in 3 different academic semesters. The completed report comprises of composite scores of main constructs of quantitative questionnaire in terms of learners’ perception, concentration, immersion and knowledge improvement, its mean scores, correlational analysis, and qualitative findings from interview sessions, think-aloud methods, open-ended questionnaires, testimonials and class observation.
Prior to completion of this research project, the partial findings from this case study have been presented in several international conferences, research exhibitions and published in reviewed journal and book chapters. This study has indicated a degree of usability, practicality and effectiveness on online games application in Arabic language learning among elementary or beginner learners in CFSIIUM (Muhammad Sabri, 2011). The URL for this games prototype is http://www.arabic-games-iium.net. This Arabic educational DGBL is now used and linked with several learning and research institutions such as My-Arabic at CELPAD, IIUM (Link : http://myarabic.e-celpad.com/), Malaysian Foundation of Innovation (Link : http://www.yim.my/databank/index.cfm?menuid=5&action=show&ib=128&), and educational blog in Arabic learning such as http://mari-belajar-bahasa-arab.blogspot.com/
DISCOURSE ANALYSIS OF KAJAOLALIDDONG PAPPASENG IN THE FORMATION OF STUDENT CHARACTERS IN A MODEL SCHOOL IN THE DISTRICT OF BONE
Since 2016, the South Sulawesi Education Assurance Agency has tried to organize and improve the quality of education throughout the province through establishment of a model school in each of its districts / cities. The educational program applied in the model schools is to strengthen the local characters of Bugis-Makassar, Toraja and Luwu or Massenrengpulu through harmonization of thought and behavior of students with support of the government, schools, families and communities as stakeholders of the National Mental Revolution Movement (NMRM). In fact, this educational program is intended to improve the students’ morality through harmonization of heart, feeling, thought and body through sufficient understanding of the local values implied in Kajaolalido Pappaseng (the testament of Kajaolalido, the legendary Bugis scholar). The study employed discourse analysis methods to strengthen the students’ local values in the model schools in Bone, one of the largest districts in the province. Some simulations of character implementation models were tested. Of the four simulation models applied (habituation, learning time, values strengthening and extracurricular), only two were employed to strengthen the character education through the use of discourse analysis methods; habituation and extra-curricular activities. The findings reveal that the model school students are very enthusiastic about recognizing and exploring the values of local wisdom through the discourse analysis methods, and more importantly, the use of those methods leads both the teachers and students to discover at least five character values; honesty, work ethic, mutual cooperation, determination and courage

Intellectual property laws and Islam in Malaysia.
PhDThis study is undertaken on the premise that Islam and Islamic law is to be taken into
serious consideration in any future legislative reform of laws in Malaysia. Islam being
the religion of the country and the strong religious sentiment of the Muslims (who
form the majority in Malaysia) cannot be overlooked or dismissed lightly by the
legislators in Malaysia. Reformation of intellectual property laws is timely, as we are
now approaching to the dateline set by GATF-Trips agreement which aim is to
improve our standard of intellectual property protection. This study seeks to analyze
and evaluate the current legislation pertaining to intellectual property in Malaysia in
terms of the philosophy and rules governing the existence, ownership and exercise of
these rights and their consistency and inconsistency with Islam and Islamic law. The
main objective of this study is to prove that a coherent and logical conceptual
framework of ownership of intellectual property can be derived from an Islamic
perspective which not only offers the basis of rights but also defines the scope of
these rights. From the point of ownership of rights, support can be obtained from the
normative framework of property rights within the traditional classification of 'mal'
(property) and 'haqq al-milkiyyah' (ownership rights) under Islamic law. From the
point of exercise of rights, the exact scope can be defined from the analysis of
fundamental concepts which have been developed by Muslim jurists. It has been
established that Islam and Islamic law offers a sound and systematic paradigm, which
in deeper analysis, can satisfy both our current obligations under international
treatises, as well as our responsibility to practise our religion to the fullest
