Asymptotics of twisted Alexander polynomials and hyperbolic volume
For a hyperbolic knot and a natural number n, we consider the Alexander polynomial twisted by the n-th symmetric power of a lift of the holonomy. We establish the asymptotic behavior of these twisted Alexander polynomials evaluated at unit complex numbers, yielding the volume of the knot exterior. More generally, we prove the asymptotic behavior for cusped hyperbolic manifolds of finite volume. The proof relies on results of Müller, and Menal-Ferrer and the last author. Using the uniformity of the convergence, we also deduce a similar asymptotic result for the Mahler measures of those polynomials

On subgroups of GL2 over Banach algebras and von Neumann regular rings which are normalized by elementary matrices
AbstractLet A be an associative ring with 1 and let E2A be the group generated by all elementary 2 by 2 matrices over A. In this paper we describe all normal subgroups of E2A for all von Neumann regular rings A, as well as for a wide class of rings A containing all Banach algebras. For Banach algebras A, the answer involves “quasi-ideals” of A, which replace ideals of A in the similar results for GLnA, n ⩾ 3, obtained previously by the second author
FP-INJECTIVE SEMIRINGS, SEMIGROUP RINGS AND LEAVITT PATH ALGEBRAS
In this paper we give characterisations of FP-injective semirings (previously termed “exact” semirings in work of the first author). We provide a basic connection between FP-injective semirings and P-injective semirings, and establish that FP-injectivity of semirings is a Morita invariant property. We show that the analogue of the Faith-Menal conjecture (relating FP-injectivity and self-injectivity for rings satisfying certain chain conditions) does not hold for semirings. We prove that the semigroup ring of a locally finite inverse monoid over an FP-injective ring is FP-injective and give a criterion for the Leavitt path algebra of a finite graph to be FP-injective
