A new species of Protodorvillea (Polychaeta: Dorvilleidae) from the Western Mediterranean Sea
A new species of Dorvilleidae, Protodorvillea artemidis sp. nov., is described from the soft bottom of the Gulf of Taranto (northern Ionian Sea) and the Straits of Messina (southern Tyrrhenian Sea), in the western Mediterranean Sea. The specimens were collected in October 2014, near the village of Rossano Calabro (Southern Italy, Ionian Sea), and in July 2016 off the village of Scilla (Southern Italy, Tyrrhenian Sea), from 6 to 38 m depth. Protodorvillea artemidis sp. nov. is characterised by four eyes, two short clavate antennae, dorsal and ventral cirri from the first parapodium, a long subacicular falciger reminiscent of that of Dorvillea, and the simultaneous occurrence of supraacicular and subacicular cultriform chaetae with serrated edges. Protodorvillea artemidis sp. nov. is similar to P. kefersteini (McIntosh, 1869) but differs from this species mainly by morphological characteristics of prostomium, mouth parts, and supraacicular and subacicualar chaetae. Morphological characters important for differentiation of the new species herein described from congeneric species are discussed. The description of P. artemidis sp. nov. helps to improve the knowledge on the diversity of Mediterranean invertebrates, and specifically on the family Dorvilleidae, which is still poorly known and includes many opportunistic species, early indicators of pollution. urn:lsid:zoobank.org:pub:AC147ADF-762A-4797-A9AE-FC0BA1219D1A

Introduction to ANDEEP, summary and outlook
The multidisciplinary international project ANDEEP (Antarctic deep-sea benthic biodiversity: colonisation history and recent community patterns) involved a two-leg expedition to the Weddelland Scotia seas in 2002 and a third expedition in 2005 to the Cape and Agulhas basins, Weddell Sea, Bellingshausen Sea and Drake Passage (Fig. 1). In 2004, we published the first results, based on the material collected during ANDEEP I/II (Brandt and Hilbig, 2004). This second volume concerns work done since 2004, including results based on material obtained during ANDEEP III. These three expeditions yielded a very rich and unique collection of material and data. Much work remains to be done and publications will continue to appear in the literature for many years to come. However, the end of the directly funded phase of the project provides a good opportunity to revisit the original questions that we had hoped to answer, to determine our success in doing so, and to define remaining gaps in our knowledge of the deep Southern Ocean faunas. Generally, the goals that were set for ANDEEP have been reached. In particular, there has been an increase in our knowledge of the scale and patterns of species diversity in the deep ocean and an improved understanding of the origins of the abyssal fauna of the Southern Ocean. Many of the remaining gaps have emerged from the knowledge we gained and thus are part of the success of the project rather than an indication of failure
Ebbe Flatau. Litauen I / Lietuva I
Litauen I / Lietuva I is a bilingual Danish-Lithuanian publication of the first part of the autobiography by Ebbe Flatau (b. 1938 in Kaunas), the first Danish lecturer at the Scandinavian Department at Vilnius University. This engaging autobiographical account delves into the author’s family history, which is intricately related to interwar Lithuania. Ebbe Flatau was born into a Danish family that operated a farm close to Kaunas: agricultural reforms and political agreements between Denmark and Lithuania during that period attracted a considerable colony of Danes to the country. In this edition, the previously unpublished original text is presented in parallel with its Lithuanian translation and is supplemented with illustrations, commentary, audio excerpts from conversations with Ebbe Flatau, as well as appendices that include archival documents, Danish and Lithuanian interwar press articles, and documentaries.
Šis dvikalbis, danų ir lietuvių kalbomis parengtas leidinys – tai pirmojo Vilniaus universiteto Skandinavistikos katedros danų kalbos lektoriaus Ebbes Flatau (g. 1938 m. Kaune) autobiografijos dalies, pavadintos Litauen I, publikacija.

Chipped Stone Assemblage of the Layer B of the Kamyana Mohyla 1 Site (South-Eastern Ukraine) and the Issue of Kukrek in the North Meotic Steppe Region
The layer B is one of the lower layers of the long stratigraphic sequence of the Kamyana Mohyla 1 site. The layer B received eight new AMS radiocarbon dates that clarified its chronology: 7950–7300 calibrated years BC. They are in a reasonable correspondence with the dates for lower and upper layers. The lithic assemblage belongs to Kukrek cultural aspect. It is characterized by pencil-like conical cores, Kukrek inserts, Kukrek burins and Dęby burins, nongeometric microliths (oblique points). The assemblage finds close parallels in the sites of Kukrek, Ihren VIII, Melnychna Krucha SU4 and Domchi-Kaia. They can be united into Kukrek sensu stricto cultural unit. The overlying layer C yielded somewhat different complex that finds parallels in the materials of the so-called “Kukrek cultural tradition.” Due to clear stratigraphic position of these units in the Kamyana Mohyla 1 sequence, we are able to differentiate Kukrek sensu stricto and “Kukrek cultural tradition” and suggest their respective chronological positions
