    This study was aimed to find students' skills in writing announcement text which can be improved by using the project based learning technique. This study uses a classroom action research. The subject of this research is elementary grade of LKP Liberty English Course Tanjungbalai which consists of 11  female and 9  male. The total is 20 students. Qualitative research has been taken by making  observations and  interviews. Meanwhile, qualitative research was taken using a test consisting of a pre test and a post test. From the observation, it can be concluded that teaching writing announcement text has increased by using project based learning techniques. In the pre-test, the students' mean score was 54.85. Whereas in the post test 1, the students' mean score was 76.8 and the post test 2 was 88.4. In other words, the students’ skill in writing announcement text was improved. And based on the observation sheet and documentation, it showed that the expression and excitement of the students were also improved

    Abstract: The goal of literary and environmental studies is to investigate both social commitments and methods. Following a similar path, eco-criticism begins with the belief that imagination and inquiry can strengthen, energize, and drive concern in order to significantly advance our understanding of environmental issues. This range of forms is consistent with other environmental humanities fields' perspectives on environmental phenomena, such as ethics, history, religious studies, and humanistic geography. A wide range of environmental issues must be addressed, with qualitative and quantitative reflections put on hold. Humankind's vision, will, and belief are the foundational discoveries and reinforced regimes. Take some time to appreciate nature's magic, which only manifests when humans adapt and remain committed to environmental restoration. Environment consists of all living and non living things which surround us as a supporting thing to survive the life better. It will begin first by exploring how spirituality is defined. It will then consider its significance for both national and international law, focusing in particular on universally recognised standards of value. In doing so, the author suggests there is merit in refining the characterisation of spirituality and the scope for further research in this area

    In this chapter the author explores Millenials’ participation in the public good, investigating whether they use social networking for social responsibility. Millenials, the wired, connected generation for whom social networking is an essential aspect of life, are often criticized for their lack of social responsibility. Social networking, as new media uniquely a part of Millenials’ wired and connected lifestyles, has the potential to “transform citizenship.” To investigate Millenials’ social networking and social responsibility, a Webnography was conducted. Findings go against conventional wisdom as the author found that Millenials use social networking to take social and political action, engage in social entrepreneurship, and conduct charitable solicitation and donation.</jats:p

    Effects of wheat streak mosaic virus and interactions with other cereal viruses on wheat

    Yield loss due to disease results from complex interactions between disease development and growth and development of plants. The effects of an Illinois isolate of wheat streak mosaic virus (WSMV) on yield of selected hard red spring wheat and soft red winter wheat cultivars were evaluated in three studies. In spring and fall of 1993 and 1994, twenty hard red spring wheat cultivars and fourteen soft winter wheat cultivars were planted in yield plots with three replications in a randomised complete block (RCB) design. Seedlings were mechanically inoculated at Feeke's growth stage 2 using an air brush. Controls were non-inoculated plots. Symptoms were rated every 7-8 days beginning one week after inoculation using a 0 to 5 scale, where 0 was no symptoms and 5 was severe stunting and chlorosis. The grain yield, 1,000 kernel weight and plant height were analyzed. There were significant differences among some cultivars for all the traits. Yield reductions in 1993 were greater than in 1994 which may have been caused by the differences in the environmental conditions. In the second study the response of three hard red spring wheat cultivars and four soft winter wheat cultivars when inoculated at different growth stages with WSMV were evaluated in yield plots in a RCB design with 3 replications. Seedlings were mechanically inoculated using an air brush at Feeke's growth stages of 2, 4, 6 and 8. Controls were noninoculated plots. Symptoms were rated as above. The response of the wheat cultivars to inoculation with WSMV at different growth stages was significant (Pr >> F = 0.0001) using repeated measures analysis. Analysis using ANOVA and FLSD mean separation showed significant differences in grain yield, 1000 kernel weight and height (P << 0.05) within the cultivars. Butte 86, a tolerant variety, showed less reduction in yield at all growth stages when compared with Marshall and Wheaton. Using the same experimental design and treatments, interaction effects of WSMV and wheat soil-borne mosaic virus (WSBMV) was also evaluated with WSBMV. The effects of both the viruses were severe in 1994-95 and the plots had very low yields. In the third study the analysis of the interactions study between cereal viruses was expanded with the addition of PAV strain of barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV-PAV) and brome mosaic virus (BMV). Agronomic traits, and the virus titers were evaluated in the greenhouse. Four different hosts, Marshall, Michigan Amber, (wheat cultivars), Clintland 64 (oats) and Hudson Barley were used. The cultivars were planted in pots using a RCB design with three replications. In one set of treatments the plants were inoculated first mechanically with BMV (bromovirus), WSMV (potyvirus), BYDV-PAV (luteovirus) and then seven to eight days later with the second set of virus. After the second inoculation, the titers of the four viruses were evaluated by ELISA at every one, two, and six weeks, after inoculation and before harvest. The cultivars responded differently to the different inoculations, and the agronomic traits were affected severely by mixed infections of the different viruses.Made available in DSpace on 2011-05-07T13:26:25Z (GMT).     ABSTRACT As the global population grows, and environmental safety is ever-increasing focus, precision farming plays a critical role in this initiative by increasing agricultural productivity. This study also develops and applies intelligent-machine learning models in the context of an IoT framework via an automatic plant-watering system. The other is in the controlled-environment greenhouses with real-time environmental sensors monitoring the crop conditions and then processed by models such as SVM, RF, CNN, ANN etc. Writer Bio Co-author Ratna Reddy said: “These models estimate agricultural yield and regulate irrigation, revolutionising agriculture. Best for smart agriculture applications, CNN has 98.55% accuracy, same as with ANN and SVM, where also scored high accuracy rates of 88–93%, and RF 90.43% accurate.     Digital media are quite unlike the 'mechanical' reproduction media that figure so often in the literature of cultural and media studies. Both the interaction between author and user through the digital medium, and a number of other intrinsic qualities of many digital media lead to novel interpretations of the concepts of "copy" and "authenticity" in the digital world. Digital media re-introduce some aspects of authenticity that were lost through the use of purely mechanical media. Digital media also lead to new conceptions of authenticity and power, related to shifts of control from author to reader and from publisher to author, and a shift from mechanical reproduction to digital re-production. the paper concludes that digital media rsult in a reduction of commonality and shared reading experiences, and a a re-definition of the concept of authenticity in terms of readership rather than authorship
