Temubual ini dijalankan melalui platform atas talian iaitu Google Meet. Temubual telah ditetapkan dengan perbincangan Prof Madya Dr Azmi Bin Haji Hassan pada 20 June 2021 setelah mendapat persetujuan oleh beliau. Beliau merupkan seorang pensyarah yang berkhidmat di Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) di bawah Fakulti Teknologi Dan lnformatik Razak. Baru-baru ini Utusan Malaysia telah menjemput beliau untuk mengupas mengenai isu pertahanan, strategik dan geopolitik antarabangsa. Sehingga kini dia telah menulis lebih dari 600 artikel media. Tugas Prof Madya Dr Azmi bukan sahaja sebagai seorang pensyarah malah sebagai seorang pakar geostrategi dan juga pakar penganalisis politik. Beliau sering dijemput oleh pihak media siaran seperti Astro Awani dan juga TV3 untuk mengupas isu-isu semasa. Contohnya, beliau telah dipanggil untuk mengulas isu mengenai MH370, Pandemik Covid-19 dan juga yang terbaru berkenaan tentang isu Vaksin Covid-19. Pelbagai ujian dan cabaran telah dihadapi oleh Prof Madya Dr Azmi Bin Haji Hassan lebih-lebih lagi dalam dunia geologis ini. Medical support system (MSS) for ward round using Pocket PC / Mohd Khairul Azmi Hassan
No full textThe usage of computer devices varies throughout the medical field, from the registration desk up to the medical ward. Handheld devices such as Pocket PC are portable and easy to use, thus are suitable tools to be implemented in this area. The objective of the project is to provide an alternative for doctors to use Pocket PCs as oppose to the wireless notebooks that are presently used for ward rounds. The systems and databases are developed based on two platforms; Windows ME on the desktop computer and Windows CE on the Pocket PC. The systems and databases that are developed in the two platforms are then synchronized in the MSS System. An extension of the MSS System is a prototype of an intelligent pharmaceutical prescription system. The system can be used to alert doctors of any incorrect prescription

No full textDetecting pathogens and mounting immune responses upon infection is crucial for animal health. However, these responses come at a high metabolic price (McKean and Lazzaro, 2011, Kominsky et al., 2010), and avoiding pathogens before infection may be advantageous. The bacterial endotoxins lipopolysaccharides (LPS) are important immune system infection cues (Abbas et al., 2014), but it remains unknown whether animals possess sensory mechanisms to detect them prior to infection. Here we show that Drosophila melanogaster display strong aversive responses to LPS and that gustatory neurons expressing Gr66a bitter receptors mediate avoidance of LPS in feeding and egg laying assays. We found the expression of the chemosensory cation channel dTRPA1 in these cells to be necessary and sufficient for LPS avoidance. Furthermore, LPS stimulates Drosophila neurons in a TRPA1-dependent manner and activates exogenous dTRPA1 channels in human cells. No full textMortise and tenon are commonly used as timber connections between beam and column with enhancement by pultruded dowel. At present the data on the performance of mortise and tenon joints manufactured using Malaysian tropical
timber is not available. Therefore there is a need to provide such data for better guidance and references in design purposes. This study investigates the behavior and strength properties of dowelled mortise and tenon timber
connections using selected Malaysian tropical timber with different types of dowels namely steel and timber. Bending tests were performed on mortise and tenon beam-column joints of Kempas when plugged with steel or wood dowel. It is found that pegging the connections with the respective steel and timber dowels resulted in a bending load capacity of 6.09 and 5.32 kN, taken as the average of three samples, the latter being 12 % lower than former. Visual observation of the failed test pieces revealed steel dowels exhibiting yield mode Im and wood, mode IIIs. The wood dowels yielded in bending at one plastic hinge point per shear plane with an associated wood crushing while the steel dowels remained practically undeformed with an associated crushing of the main member
