Exploring the impact of SEO-based ranking factors for voice queries through machine learning

    No full text
The use of voice search is proliferating and expected to grow into the foreseeable future; this is why websites increasingly optimize their content associated with voice-based search to improve their ranking. In this era of rapid growth in voice search technology, it is a topical matter that needs research. Moreover, many predictions about its future excite the subject and require systematic investigation. This research aims to analyze important features that contribute to the SEO of webpages. Therefore, there is a need to examine various ranking factors that improve the ranking of the webpages for voice search queries on the Search Engine Results Page (SERP). This study consists of two phases. The frst phase comprises systematic data acquisition and identifying important SEO-based ranking factors. The second phase includes a longitudinal case study to evaluate the impact and signifcance of identifed factors. To achieve this goal, we conduct experiments on methodical combinations of features through machine learning algorithms such as Support Vector Machine, Logistic Regression, Naive Bayes Classifer, K-Nearest Neighbors, Decision Trees and Random Forest. Comparing results for multiple feature designs evaluates the contributing nature of specifc features in SEO-based optimization for ranking. Results suggest the importance of the newly identifed feature set (FF) outperforms baselines (EF and EFN) by a signifcant margin. A longitudinal case study on a blog over four months confrms that optimizing these features improves page ranking; therefore, webmasters must optimize these features while preparing the webpage

A systematic review of gender diversity and its impact on the performance of Microfinance Institutions

    No full text
This study aims to consolidate the available knowledge on gender diversity and its impact on the dual performance (social and financial) of Microfinance Institutions (MFIs). We specifically focus on MFIs due to their distinctive nature compared to other industries, being traditionally women-centered and having a substantial representation of women employees across all levels of the corporate hierarchy. To conduct this comprehensive analysis, we employed a systematic review approach, meticulously selecting 24 relevant papers from the Scopus and Web of Science databases. Our findings revealed that research on gender diversity in MFIs primarily focuses on the board level. However, existing studies present conflicting results, suggesting that the impact of gender diversity on MFI performance is nuanced and complex. This complexity stems largely from the varying roles women play within the organizational structure. Furthermore, our analysis highlights the influence of additional factors, such as the database used, the study's context, and its geographical location, on the reported outcomes. Notably, research on gender diversity at the managerial and loan officer levels remains scarce, presenting a significant gap in the current body of knowledge. To further illuminate this field, this study identifies the most influential papers on the topic of gender diversity in microfinance. Additionally, we provide a co-authorship network analysis, visualizing the connections between existing research. This analysis provides valuable insights and inspiration for future research endeavors in this critical area

Interdiscourse communication has shifted the focus of conventional studies in intercultural communication from the priori notion of culture as a constitutive to constituent of discourse. The essentialist approach is no more sufficient to deal with the changing forms of communication in this era of globalization when intercultural communication is not just restricted to face-to- face interaction. People are globally connected through a variety of rhetorical devices such as social media, international electronic and print media and literature around the world. The present research explores an important form of interdiscourse communication that is fiction because “a novel (fiction) has more in common at a particular historical moment with other existing forms of rhetoric” (Bakhtin 1941 cited in Klages 2006:106). The current study particularly focuses on the novel Thinner than Skin by Uzma Aslam Khan. The study investigates the role of novelistic discourse in abrogating stereotypical notions about a culture and appropriating them with better and positive picture through stylistic technique of double voicing. The analysis of the novel shows that double voicing has been effective in overturning orthodox notions about a culture by showing the other optimistic side of the picture, thus playing a role to improve intercultural understanding. The analysis demonstrates that the novelistic discourse also creates a communicative contact with reader and reading fiction itself becomes a moment of interdiscourse communication

Countering Western Feminism: A Pakistani Feminist Perspective in Shandana Minhas’ Tunnel Vision and Uzma Aslam Khan’s Thinner than Skin

    No full text
Shandana Minhas’ Tunnel Vision and Uzam Aslam Khan’s Thinner than Skin are rich literary texts which negotiate the tension between Western feminist discourses and third world women. Western feminism deems itself as universal which claims that it encompasses the ordeals and the voices of all the women in the world. It takes women as homogenous category regardless of their race, color, nationality and religion. It assumes third world women as the victim of male dominance, dependent upon men, uncivilized and un-cultured, and moreover lacking in education and awareness regarding their due rights. Many feminists in the West see Pakistani females still fighting for basic human rights within an oppressive, religious, and male-dominated culture. However, Pakistani female Anglophone fiction writers like Shandana Minhas and Uzma Aslam Khan through their fictitious female characters challenge the hegemonic view of homogeneity and universality of Western feminism. They give an intellectual response to the misrepresentation of Third World women by creating female characters who are free individuals and capable of acting according to their own choice by challenging the traditional patriarchal norms of suppression and male domination. They possess human agency and their own subjectivity. Therefore, Pakistani female writers try to create autonomous female subjects. The study is qualitative in nature and relies on the interpretive analysis of the texts. It uses Chandra Talpade Mohanty’s essay Under Western Eyes: Feminist Scholarship and Colonial Discourse (1984) as a theoretical framework. The study is important because it shows that western feminism is hegemonic and tries to colonize Third World through scholarship.

The crisis of antimicrobial resistance has been ascribed to the misuse of these agents and due to unavailability of newer drugs attributable to exigent regulatory requirements and reduced financial inducements. Comprehensive efforts are needed to minimize the pace of resistance by studying emergent microorganisms, resistance mechanisms, and antimicrobial agents. Multidisciplinary approaches are required across health care settings as well as environment and agriculture sectors. Progressive alternate approaches including probiotics, antibodies, and vaccines have shown promising results in trials that suggest the role of these alternatives as preventive or adjunct therapies in future. Keywords: antibiotics, multidrug resistance, evolution, alternative therapie
