The Influence of Using Information Transfer Technique towards Students’ Reading Comprehension
In a process of teaching learning activity, teachers strive to create activities in class to make the students understand with the material that teachers give, when a book as a main source of knowledge in learning process, reading is an important process in teaching learning activity, many teachers try to apply technique to make students comprehend of what they read, and to make students interested in reading activity. In this paper the author introduces the technique known as information transfer. By first collecting different definitions of the term and then by explaining its application to English language teaching that can be used in teaching reading activity. Therefore, the present study was carried out to investigate the relationship between the use of information transfer and students’ reading comprehension, i.e. to determine whether or not making use of information transfer has any influence on the students’ reading comprehension. The methodology was true-experimental design with the treatment. The population of this research was the second semester of the tenth grade students of MAN I Metro, Lampung. The sample taken was two classes randomly, 1K2 (X-2) and 1K3 (X-3) which consisted of 64 students. In collecting the data, the writer used the instruments in multiple-choice questions of descriptive text. After being tried-out, the instrument was used for the pre-test and the post-test
MANAJEMEN PEMBELAJARAN BAHASA INGGRIS: Studi pada Kelas Unggulan SMA Negeri I Metro Lampung
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui manajemen pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di SMA Negeri I Metro. Sedangkan sub-fokus penelitian meliputi: (1) apa tujuan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di kelas unggulan SMA Negeri I Metro, (2) bagaimana pemilihan materi ajar pembelajaran bahasa Inggris; (3) bagaimana peran guru dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini dilakukan di tahun ajaran 2015/2016 pada semester gazal. Sumber data yang digunakan guru di kelas unggulan SMA Negeri I Metro. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan manajemen pembelajarn bahasa Inggris di SMA Negeri I Metro sudah cukup baik, yaitu : (1) tujuan dasar pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di kelas unggulan difokuskan pada penguasaan kompetensi komunikatif baik secara lisan maupun tulisan; (2) pemilihan materi pembelajaran yang digunakan oleh guru-guru di kelas unggulan sangat bervariasi dan sesuai dengan materi yang diberikan; (3) peran guru dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di kelas unggulan baik. EVALUASI PEMBELAJARAN BAHASA INDONESIA DI PERGURUAN TINGGI
Indonesian Language Learning Program Evaluation in higher education aims to measure the achievement of learning implementation program for Indonesian Language subject.The used method is a survey method. The used of instrument are documents, interview and observation guidances. Data is collected for one semester. Based on the phenomenon which is founded in 8 (eight) higher schools in Jakarta, it transpired the following findings as follows: (1) Contex evalution component, (2) Input evaluation component, are founded the facts: (a) The procedur and selection system; (b) Lack of lecturers resources of Indonesian Language subject; (c) the quality of the Indonesian Language lectures; (d) Indonesian Language lecturers have not educational background in Indonesian Language subject; (e) Language lectures have not the academic title as the lecturers; (f) Language Lecturers not obtain the teaching certificate; (g) No standard learning implemenation; (h) Many higher schools have no the required infrastructures; (i) The operational fund of all higher schools is mostly acquired from the students. (3) process evaluation component: (a) Nearly all lecturers met the total of meeting hours; (b) Most of lecturers are on time schedule; (c) Many lecturers have no capability in composing the learning material; (d) No similarity or standarization in delivering the learning material. (4) Product evaluation component are founded that the obtained grade average from the Semester Final Examination in Indonesian Language subject is 86.75 meanwhile the minimum grade is 70 and the maximum grade is 95.
PENERAPAN NILAI-NILAI MODERASI BERAGAMA MELALUI INTERAKSI SOSIAL DALAM MENINGKATKAN SIKAP TOLERANSI
Abstrak: Moderasi beragama mengajarkan pentingnya menghargai perbedaan dan menjalin dialog antar umat beragama tanpa merendahkan atau merasa unggul dari orang lain. Pendekatan ini mendorong inklusivitas, saling pengertian, dan kerjasama lintas agama untuk menciptakan masyarakat yang harmonis dan damai. Pada kenyataan nya, kecamatan Metro Timur merupakan wilayah yang penduduknya banyak terdiri dari berbagai agama yang berbeda yaitu Islam, Protestan, Katolik, Hindu, dan Buddha, maka perlu adanya penerapan nilai-nilai moderasi beragama melalui interaksi sosial agar mampu meningkatkan sikap toleransi dalam bermasuarakat. Kegiatan ini diwujudkan dengan adanya kegiatan sosialisasi untuk menerapkan nilai-nilai moderasi beragama yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan softskill peserta. Sosialisasi tersebut diadakan di kantor kecamatan Metro Timur secara berkala selama 4 kali pertemuan. Pelaksanaan sosialisasi tersebut diikuti sekitar 25 warga Masyarakat dari perwakilan tiap-tiap kelurahan di kecamatan Metro Timur. Pelaksanaan sosialisasi menunjukan bahwa peserta sangat antusias dalam mengikuti kegiatan yang dimulai dari 3 kali penerapan nilai-nilai moderasi beragama dan diakhiri dengan kegiatan evaluasi. Dalam kegiatan terakhir yang berupa evaluasi tim pengabdian membuat skema diskusi dan interview terhadap para peserta dengan jumlah soal sekitar 17 pertanyaan. Peserta mampu menjabarkan penerapan nila-nilai moderasi beragama dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat nya. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa sosialisasi yang dilakukan sebelum nya mampu diserap dengan baik oleh para peserta. Sebagaimana dibuktikan oleh presentase softskill meningkat sekitar 20%-30% dari masing-masing skill: ketrampilan kognitif, praktis, dan sosial-emosional.Abstract: Religious moderation learns the importance of respecting differences and establishing dialogue between religious communities without demeaning or feeling superior to other people. This approach encourages inclusivity, mutual understanding and cross-religious cooperation to create a harmonious and peaceful society. In reality, the East Metro sub-district is an area whose population consists of many different religions, namely Islam, Protestantism, Catholicism, Hinduism and Buddhism. For this reason, it is necessary to apply the values of religious moderation through social interaction to be able to increase attitudes of tolerance in society. This activity is realized through socialization activities to implement the values of religious moderation. The socialization was held at the East Metro sub-district office periodically for 4 meetings. The socialization was attended by around 25 community members from representatives of each sub-district in the East Metro sub-district. The implementation of the socialization showed that participants were very enthusiastic in taking part in the activities which started with 3 applications of the values of religious moderation and ended with evaluation activities. In the final activity in the form of evaluation, the service team created a discussion and interview scheme for the participants. Participants are able to explain the application of the values of religious moderation in their social life. This indicates that the socialization carried out previously was well absorbed by the participants. As evidenced by the percentage of soft skills increasing by about 20%-30% from each skill: cognitive, practical, and social-emotional skills
Unleashing The Power of Instruction: Internalizing Religious Moderation Values in Students’ EFL Writing
Writing in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) is a special chance for students to improve their language skills and develop their social awareness. Through the use of writing prompts that promote values like tolerance, respect for others, and critical thinking, students are able to express themselves more effectively in English and gain a deeper comprehension of other viewpoints. This study used qualitative research to examine the effects of implementing religious moderation values on EFL students' writing ability. Analysis of the effects of exposure to these values on writing coherence, argumentation, and intercultural sensitivity was done using data acquired through students interviews and observation sheets. The results show that the incorporating of religious moderation in EFL lessons has a positive effect on students' language learning and knowledge of global cultural issues encouraging more considerate and polite conversation. The research emphasizes how learning a language together with a values-based education can result in students who are more adept and socially conscientious, especially in writing class
‘HEY BLOG’ CAN PERSONAL WEBSITE ASSIST L2 STUDENTS’ WILLINGNESS TO DO PEER FEEDBACK?
Technology's rapid growth has significantly impacted how lecturers incorporate technology into classroom activities, especially when providing feedback. The students will receive feedback during the revision session. There are many techniques for giving feedback on students' writing. For instance, peer and self-feedback are two techniques for checking students' mistakes. Therefore, this research portrays technology as a medium for implementing peer and self-feedback in students' writing. This research aims to describe the integration of media in giving feedback. The media are blogs and Google Docs. This research also gathered students' perceptions of the use of online media. In this research, the researcher implemented qualitative research. This research was conducted by the fourth-semester students of the essay writing class, English Education Study Program, Uin Raden Intan Lampung. The researcher used documentation, an internet survey, and an observation sheet to gather data. The data from the research is analyzed interactively. The findings highlight the significant benefits of utilizing blogs and Google Docs for reflective writing practices. The implication of this research underscores the importance of integrating online media for peer and self-feedback to enhance students' writing skills effectively. This research contributes valuable insight into leveraging technology for academic improvement and fostering a conducive learning environment.
The Correlation Between the Students' Writing Motivation and the Writing Ability
The objectives of this research are to know the level of the students' writing motivation, to know the level of the students' writing ability, and to know whether there is any positive and significant correlation between the students' writing motivation and the writing ability among the eleventh grade students of Senior High School Utama Wacana Metro in the academic year of 2009/2010.This research was conducted at the eleventh students of Senior High School Utama Wacana Metro. The population of this research consist of 136 students. And the sample consists of 52 students. It is established through the simple random sampling technique. The instruments used in this research are questionnaire and test. The writer used questionnaire to know the levels the students' writing motivation. Furthermore, to know the level of the writing ability, the writer used writing test. To analyze the data, the writer used product moment correlation. The result of data analysis is “r observed” = 0, 506 higher than “r table” = 0, 273. Based on the result of analysis data above, it can be inferred that Ha is accepted

In the patriarchy society, women are viewed to be the second class under men. This study aims at knowing how feminism in Perempuan Berkalung Sorban novel by Abidah El Khalieqy. The purpose of this study are to: 1) describe feminism in novel Perempuan Berkalung Sorban novel, 2) know the groups of feminism in Perempuan Berkalung Sorban novel. This research was qualitative descriptive research method. The results showed: 1) the feminism in Perempuan Berkalung Sorban novel describe a woman' stuggle in getting her existence and rights as a independent human being, and 2) this novel contents liberal feminism and radical feminism
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
