Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Developing an Instruction Model for News Writing Based on the Cooperative Type Group Investigation Strategy
Get PDFThis study aims to produce a learning model of news writing skills using the cooperative type group investigation strategy. This study was a research and development (R&D) that followed Borg & Gall's development procedure. The subject of study was students and lecturers at the University of PGRI Semarang. The developed learning model includes the components of introduction, concepts, advantages, objectives, characteristics, and steps in the learning of news writing based on the cooperative type group investigation strategy. The expert, user/practitioner, expert, user/practitioner, and field testing results showed that the developed learning model could improve the students’ news writing skills in terms of the process and the product. The success in the process was indicated by their activeness and seriousness in the steps of news writing activities based on the cooperative type group investigation strategy. The success in the product was indicated by the improvement of their news writing quality in the aspects of contents/substances and mechanics (spelling and punctuation). The ability to write news to PBSI students with learning models based on cooperative type group investigation strategy is better than students who study with conventional learning models

Get PDFPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui strategi komunikasi yang digunakan dalam program acara talk show di TVRI Jawa Tengah. Fokus utama penelitian ini adalah bagaimana strategi komunikasi membantu dalam membangun interaksi antara host, bintang tamu, dan audiens serta menyampaikan pesan yang efektif. Dengan mengacu pada teori komunikasi dan strategi komunikasi, penelitian ini menganalisis berbagai elemen seperti pengenalan khalayak, pemilihan topik, penyusunan pesan, penggunaan media, dan teknik pengemasan acara. Studi ini juga membandingkan strategi komunikasi yang diterapkan dalam program acara talk show di TVRI Jawa Tengah dengan pendekatan lain yang diuraikan dalam literatur untuk mengidentifikasi praktik terbaik dalam penyiaran televisi lokal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi komunikasi yang efektif dapat meningkatkan keterlibatan audiens dan memperkuat pesan yang disampaikan.

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Therefore, it is necessary to apply other innovative models and media that are more supportive. So that in this study has a formulation of the problem of how the application of the Project Based Learning model assisted by Wattpad media in writing poetry material for class VIII students of SMPN 25 Semarang in the 2023/2024 academic year. The data collection method of this research is descriptive qualitative. With the subject of class VIII C totaling 33 students. The data collection techniques used in this study were test and non-test techniques. The test technique was carried out by giving a test on writing poetry text through the specified learning media, while the non-test technique was carried out by observation, student questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. So that the application of the Project Based Learning Model assisted by Wattpad Media can be applied with the results of good poetry text work products in learning the material of writing poetry texts on Class VIII Students of SMPN 25 Semarang Academic Year 2023/2024

Get PDFPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami bagaimana kedua media membentuk narasi mereka menggunakan model framing Entman, yang mencakup penentuan masalah, identifikasi penyebab, penilaian moral, dan usulan solusi, serta untuk menganalisis perbedaan framing antara Metro TV dan TVRI Jawa Tengah dalam memberitakan kebijakan penghapusan penjurusan untuk jenjang SMA di Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan adalah analisis kualitatif terhadap berita dari program "Metro Hari Ini" dan "Metro Siang" Metro TV, serta "Jawa Tengah Hari Ini" TVRI Jawa Tengah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Metro TV lebih kritis terhadap kebijakan ini, dengan menyoroti kurangnya koordinasi pemerintah, kesiapan infrastruktur yang belum optimal, dan dampaknya terhadap seleksi masuk perguruan tinggi. Sementara itu, TVRI Jawa Tengah membingkai kebijakan ini sebagai reformasi pendidikan yang positif dengan menampilkan implementasi di sekolah serta tanggapan siswa dan guru. Perbedaan framing ini menunjukkan bahwa media memiliki peran penting dalam membentuk opini publik terhadap kebijakan pendidikan. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan agar pemerintah meningkatkan komunikasi dengan tenaga pendidik dan orang tua, serta media memberitakan kebijakan secara lebih seimbang agar informasi yang diterima masyarakat lebih objektif.
 
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
Get PDFWe conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
