    In the academic environment, learning Islamic Studies gives rise to various polemics and debates. This research will discuss the thoughts of contemporary Muslim figure about Islamic Studies, Majid Daneshgar in his book "Studying the Qur\u27an in the Muslim Academy." By using descriptive-analytical research methods, the author attempts to explain descriptively what is behind Majid Daneshgar\u27s thoughts on Islamic studies, then the author critically analyzes whether his thoughts are in accordance with the culture of Muslim academic Islamic studies in Indonesia? This research consists of primary and secondary data. Primary data was obtained from the opinions expressed by Daneshgar in his book "Studying the Qur\u27an in the Muslim Academy," while secondary data was obtained by looking at literature that discussed Majid Daneshgar\u27s thoughts and Islamic Studies. From this research, the author concludes that the tradition of Islamic studies in the academic environment (especially in Indonesia) is not entirely Islamic Apologetics as stated by Majid Daneshgar

    Michael Hanekeʼs 2005 film Caché (Hidden) reversed a racialised gaze: the whiteFrench bourgeoisie are watched by an unknown source. The protagonist Georgespresumes, although never proves, that this source is Majid, a character with,presumably, Algerian descent. The author traces what amounts to a racistpresumption by Georges back to his childhood in order to show that Frenchcolonisation created circuits of psychological violence from which Algerians haveno escape, even in contemporary France. Caché therefore makes visible themechanisms which continue to oppress as well as to enact (post)-colonialviolence – psychological and physical – upon Algerians in France. Furthermore,scholars of Caché have criticised the disproportionately low representation ofMajid but largely refrained from analysis of Majidʼs scenes. This article seeks toexpand that scholarship and analyse the access which we are granted into Majidʼsworld. The author highlights that the psychological violence which Majid enduresstems principally from an historical surveillance of Algerians in French society. Sheultimately argues that, while the French are made visible in this film, Majid, and byextension, Algerian immigrants, are made even more so; in other words, Hanekereveals a ‘regard cach./hidden gazeʼ on what is in contemporary France a hypervisibleAlgerian population

    Prediction of Methane Fraction in Biogas from Landfill Bioreactors by Neural Network Modeling

    Background: Predicting the methane percentage of biogas is necessary for selecting the optimized technologies of using landfill biogas for energy. The aim of this study was to predict of methane fraction in biogas from landfill bioreactors by Artificial Neural Network (ANN) modeling.Methods: In this study, two different systems were applied to predict the methane fraction in landfill gas as a final product of anaerobic digestion, in system I (C1), the leachate generated from a fresh-waste reactor was drained to recirculation tank, and recycled. In System II (C2), the leachate generated from a fresh waste landfill reactor was fed through a well-decomposed refuse landfill reactor, and at the same time, the leachate generated from a well-decomposed refuse landfill reactor recycled to a fresh waste landfill reactor. We monitored the systems for 6 months, after which we modeled the methane fraction in landfill gas from the bioreactors using artificial neural networks. The leachate specifications were used as input parameters. Leachate samples were collected every 7 days from effluent port of each reactor. COD and NH4 were determined according to the Standard Methods (2005). The pH value was measured by a portable digital pH meter (Salemab, Iran). Results: There is very good agreement in the trends between predicted and measured data. R values are 0.991 and 0.993, and the obtained mean square error values are 1.046 and 2.117 for training and test data, respectively. Conclusions: ANN based approaches can be considered as a compromising approach in landfill gas prediction problem and can be used to optimize the dimensions of a plant using biogas for energy (i.e. heat and/or electricity) recovery and monitoring system.

    This research attempts to expose not only to the reader but also to the author herself, the enigma of “sick building syndrome” (SBS). The reader is introduced to many facets of the syndrome from potential causes, through the consequences and to possible remedies. Past research on SBS had focused on major factor that caused the phenomena but this dissertation will take the reader on the understanding of lighting assessment, which is also, contribute to SBS. It has been said that first we shape our buildings, and then our buildings shape us (Ashton, 1992). Concern for the health of the university’s indoor environment is supported by studies which show that we spend up to 90% of our time indoors (Baker, 1998), and that indoor air may be up to five times more contaminated than outdoor air (CANDO, 1999). The tendency of certain buildings, particularly energy-efficient, controlled-climate buildings, to elicit various negative health effects (including headaches, fatigue, and severe respiratory problems) in their occupants is known as the SBS (WHO, 1998). The indoor environments influence multiple aspects of our health at the faculties, and the author believe that it is in the faculties best interests to directly address SBS concerns on computer labs, as they affect the well-being of students, staffs, and faculties alike

    Generalised noncommutative geometry on finite groups and Hopf quivers

    We explore the differential geometry of finite sets where the differential structure is given by a quiver rather than as more usual by a graph. In the finite group case we show that the data for such a differential calculus is described by certain Hopf quiver data as familiar in the context of path algebras. We explore a duality between geometry on the function algebra vs geometry on the group algebra, i.e. on the dual Hopf algebra, illustrated by the noncommutative Riemannian geometry of the group algebra of S-3. We show how quiver geometries arise naturally in the context of quantum principal bundles. We provide a formulation of bimodule Riemannian geometry for quantum metrics on a quiver, with a fully worked example on 2 points; in the quiver case, metric data assigns matrices not real numbers to the edges of a graph.     “ Eusparassus” palystiformis Strand, 1907 nomen dubium Eusparassus palystiformis Strand, 1907a: 541 (description of female) [type from Capeland in South Africa, Museum Lübeck, lost]; Strand 1907b: 671. Remarks. According to the original description, this species could not be placed in the genus Eusparassus, as its legs have three pairs of ventral tibial spines (two pairs in Eusparassus). Strand (1907a) expressed doubts on placing his new species in Eusparassus by using a question mark. Remarks on Ethiopian types of Strand. The type specimens of the following four species were unfortunately destroyed during World War II (Renner 1988). The excursion of the author to Ethiopia (June 2011) as well as investigations in major spider collections in Europe resulted in the recognition of two known valid species of Eusparassus distributed in the country, namely E. laevatus comb. nov. (East and North-East), and E. vestigator comb. nov. (South). These two species were described before those of Strand.
