Wage Bargaining and the (Dynamic) Mincer Equation
This paper shows that, if observed earnings are the result of employer-employee wage bargaining, under a set of specific assumptions, the standard static Mincer equation can be thought as a particular case of a dynamic wage equation. Particularly, we argue that the standard static Mincer equation is implicitly based on the hypothesis that the employee has full bargaining power, and provide (further) empirical evidence against this hypothesis.Mincer equation, return to schooling, wage bargaining

Mussolini meets Marshall in the city
We estimate the link between population density and labour productivity at the city level. An exogenous change in the agglomeration of some cities that occurred in Italy during the fascist dictatorship allows us to instrument the agglomeration proxy. We find evidence of a causal impact of density on productivity for the subpopulation of cities affected by the instrument. The estimated elasticity in our preferred specification is 0.252
Finance, growth and quantile parameter heterogeneity
This paper argues that the effect of a financial stimulus on growth can vary along quantiles of the conditional growth distribution. We support this argument by presenting a theoretical finance–growth model, mainly inspired by Pagano (1993) and Canarella and Pollard (2004), where quantile parameter heterogeneity plays a role. In addition, controlling for a set of observed country characteristics and for all time-invariant characteristics, through the panel dataset of Levine et al. (2000), we present evidence that countries in the upper tail of the conditional growth distribution react more than countries in the lower tail to the same financial stimulus
Beyond the Griliches biases
Purpose The paper investigates the determinants of the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) bias of the wage return to graduate education for high-school workers in Portugal. Design/methodology/approach The study uses matched employer-employee data for Portugal, over the 2002-2012 period, to estimate a wage-schooling model that controls not only for individual observed characteristics, firm observed characteristics and year fixed effects, but also for three high-dimensional vectors of fixed effects – one for employees, one for employers and one for job titles. Findings The main results are the following. First, disregarding individual fixed effects is highly problematic, accounting for 48.5% of the OLS bias. Second, disregarding firm fixed effects is also problematic, accounting for 12.3% of the OLS bias. Research limitations/implications The implication for the studies in the labor-supply literature that estimate, by means of instrumental variables, the wage returns to in-school work or to on-the-job schooling is that an instrument dealing with employee’s unobserved ability only may fail to meet the exclusion restriction. Practical implications Take the typical instrument based on a policy reform that changes the compulsory schooling level in the population. This instrument may well be argued to be correlated with the education of the employee and uncorrelated with the unobserved ability of the employee, but unfortunately it cannot be seen as orthogonal to the unobserved ability of the employer because of its correlation with the (unobserved) education of the manager. This is a simple corollary of the fact that the employee and the manager belong, in general, to the same population. Social implications Individuals invest a considerable amount of resources in education, which is seen to have positive effects on several dimensions of individual life. Yet, the estimation of these effects is still surrounded by technical difficulties. Originality/value To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first study that uses the Gelbach decomposition to investigate the determinants of the OLS bias of the wage return to graduate education for high-school workers

Abstract
This study aims to describe the resistance that a woman exerts to others. This Hal is shown through the form of open resistance and closed resistance in the film Yuni by Kamila Andini. The data used is in the form of inter-character dialogue containing the theory of resistance from James C. Scott, which is about open resistance and closed resistance in data sources, namely the film Yuni by Kamila Andini. Data collection techniques in this study, namely using documentation, view and download videos. The data analysis technique carried out is a descriptive technique. The results of this study show that there are two forms of resistance in Kamila Andini's Yuni film, namely open resistance and closed resistance. Open resistance is exercised by the female character in the form of circumvention and rebuttal of anger shown on high notes and shown on facial expressions. The closed resistance carried out by the female character in Kamila Andini's Yuni is shown in the form of rejection shown through unkind behavior, harboring turmoil, and crying shown to others.

Financial development and long-run growth: Is the cross-sectional evidence robust?
In a seminal paper, Levine, Loayza and Beck (LLB, 2000) provide cross-sectional evidence showing that financial development has positive average impact on long-run growth, using a sample of 71 countries. We argue that the evidence is sensitive to the presence of outliers
