He describes his father, a prominent academic, and outlines his own early education and life as a graduate student in London, and early career as an economist in Kuwait. He mentions early teaching stints at AUC starting in 1967, contrasting the social class of students then with those in later years, and tells how he came permanently to AUC later in the 1970s. Amin briefly outlines changes in the Economics department over the years, and offers some commentary on AUC students (specifically changes in academic quality over time). He also speaks about the university’s relationship with Egyptian politics and government, including an anecdote about an AUC committee he served on after the 1973 war. Effect of chemical composition in oil palm trunk towards to furniture manufacturing process/ Asyraf Aminuddin Bani Amin
No full textAn explosive development in oil palm plantation in the country has produced a consequence in the generation of plantation waste. The disposal of these wastes has created an enormous environmental problem that some practical solution to their economic utilization has not been sought. An experiment has been accomplished to observe the possibility of converting the oil palm trunk into a valuable woodworking product. The effort of the research was determining the basic properties that are covered on the effect of chemical composition in oil palm trunk in the furniture manufacturing process. The determination of chemical composition in oil palm trunk includes moisture content determination, ash content percentages, hot water solubility and 1% NaOH solubility. The research is followed according to the TAPPI T212 os - 75 standards. A result in general showed that the oil palm trunk has great characteristic variation across and the along the stem, which may develop problem during utilization especially machining and drying. Oil palm wood is a unique material with great characteristic variation across and along the trunk, which may develop problem in its utilization. Such utilization was not commonly encountered in conventional wood material
Qasim Amin y John Stuart Mill: las razones de la esclavitud femenina
No full textQasim Amin (1863/5-1908) was not the first Arab author in the context of contemporary Islam who wrote and campaigned for the liberation of women, but has been considered the first theorist and the antecedent par excellence in the history of the Egyptian feminist movement. The aim of this paper is to characterize the author feminism in relation to its assessment of the crisis in the Arab world. In particular, I focus on the following issues: Amin’s thesis on female slavery and the relationship between its causes and reformism of the author, according to the criteria he himself points out: freedom and common interest. To further characterize his position, I also consider Amin’s thesis in relation to some of the criticisms and proposals of Stuart Mill on the subjugation of women, one of his sources of inspiration.Qasim Amin (1863/5-1908) no fue el primer autor árabe que en el contexto del islam contemporáneo escribió y militó a favor de la liberación de las mujeres, pero ha sido considerado el primer teórico y el antecedente por excelencia del movimiento feminista egipcio. El objetivo de este artículo es caracterizar el feminismo del autor en relación a su diagnóstico sobre la crisis de mundo árabe. Me centro para ello en las siguientes cuestiones: las tesis de Amin sobre la esclavitud femenina y la articulación entre sus causas y el reformismo del autor atendiendo a los criterios que él mismo señala: la libertad y el interés común. Para caracterizar mejor su posición, considero también las tesis de Amin en relación a algunas de las críticas y propuestas de Stuart Mill sobre el sometimiento del mujer, al ser Mill una de sus fuentes de inspiración

No full textSejak tahun 1979 Institut Aminuddin Baki (IAB) telah menerajui latihan dan pembangunan (Training & Development) pemimpin pendidikan, khususnya pemimpin sekolah di Malaysia. Tempoh yang melebihi tiga dekad itu telah memperkayakan IAB dengan pengalaman dan pengetahuan bukan sahaja dalam repositori tentang kepimpinan dan pengurusan tetapi repositori tentang pendekatan dan kaedah latihan.
Oleh hal yang demikian, sudah tiba masanya IAB mempunyai latihan dan pembangunan yang berasaskan kepada konteks keperluan pemimpin pendidikan di Malaysia. Pada masa yang sama prinsip latihan dan pembangunannya memenuhi prinsip-prinsip utama andragogi (pembelajaran orang dewasa). Maka buku kecil ini ditulis bertujuan untuk memperkenalkan Model Pembelajaran Aktif (MPA) khusus untuk latihan dan pembangunan pemimpin pendidikan.
Buku ini akan membincangkan empat perkara pokok yang berkaitan MPA iaitu perbincangan akan menumpu kepada (i) definisi pembelajaran aktif, (ii) memperkenalkan ciri-ciri penting MPA, (iii) mencadangkan penterjemahan MPA kepada sesi latihan iaitu LAMDA (Leadership and Management Development Activity), dan (iv) peranan pensyarah atau trainer dalam konteks MPA

No full textDalam dunia pendidikan yang semakin rencam, gelombang perubahan yang datang tanpa dijemput adalah di luar kawalan, ramalan dan jangkaan yang akan terus mendesak pemimpin untuk lebih bersedia bagi menghadapi pelbagai kemungkinan dan ketidakpastian. Hanya pemimpin yang proaktif terhadap perubahan mampu memenuhi tuntutan dan kehendak pelanggan serta bergerak seiring dengan cita rasa mereka. Semua ini memerlukan pemimpin menilai semula pemikiran sedia ada agar selaras dengan hala tuju Rancangan Malaysia Kesepuluh dan tiga komponen Bidang Keberhasilan Utama Negara berkaitan dengan bidang pendidikan seperti yang telah ditetapkan.
Menyedari hakikat di atas, bahan ini telah ditulis dan dibentangkan oleh penulis dalam Seminar Nasional ke-18 bertempat di Institut Aminuddin Baki untuk mengajak pemimpin-pemimpin sekolah membincangkan isu-isu yang berkaitan dengan kepimpinan sekolah yang menjadi cabaran kepada semua pemimpin sekolah di Malaysia. Selain itu, para pembaca akan didedahkan dengan pendekatan-pendekatan terkini dalam pembangunan kepimpinan sekolah yang diterjemahkan dalam kerangka pembangunan kepimpinan sekolah.
Sesungguhnya, sebagai agen perubahan utama dalam organisasi, buah fikiran yang terkandung dalam bahan ini perlu dibaca dan difahami untuk membantu kelangsungan setiap organisasi yang diterajui agar terus mantap dan berdaya saing

The purpose of this research is to know and understand the procedures for selling Yamaha motorcycles at Amin Motor Banyuwangi. The type of research used is descriptive research, namely the author conducts interviews, observations and documentation obtained in the field. The results showed that the sales administration procedures at Amin Motor Banyuwangi were in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). The documents and records used in cash and credit sales transactions at Amin Motor Banyuwangi are effective, this can be seen from the complete documents and records used, from sales orders, credit applications, delivery orders, sales invoices and proof documents payment

No full textEducation is very important especially in these challenging times. Various technologies day by day are growing, also the current educational technology. If in the past the traditional delivery of education there should be a lecturer in front and students listened to what the lecturer presented orally. Now keeping pace with technology education where knowledge is delivered not only in accordance with the timetable in the classroom, but can also be delivered on-line and accessible regardless of time and place restrictions call as blended learning techniques. Blended learning is used to deliver knowledge among technology websites, videos, interactive cd, multimedia equipment and many more. The availability of this technology has triggered a variety of learning techniques such as blended learning. There are so many systems that can can support learning techniques process such as Online Academic Online Resources (AUTHOR), an e-learning system used by UTHM. A learning management system must be developed with creativity and innovative features in terms of interface design and system capability to ensure the effectiveness of the system for lecturers and students. Therefore the purpose of this study is to find out why lecturers and students at the Faculty Of Computer Science and Information Technology, UTHM are not fully utilized this e-learning system (AUTHOR). The findings shows that through the development of a workable prototype with improvise interface design using blended learning concept can be applied in this e-learning system (AUTHOR). Hopefully with this improvised interface design will attract the lecturers and students more to fully utilized this system in the future
