Timebased media / Rahman Amin
The present exhibition is different from past events as a result of two major events since then. This is the first time where students had to experience full On-Line Distance Learning (ODL). This was also the first time the 17 students Majoring Time Based Media succeeded in completing their studies. The teaching and learning of fine Arts is synonymous with the face to face (F2F) approach. Traditionally, this was the approach to build future graduates. However, the change in approach has brought about many questions. Among them include the effectiveness of on-line learning of the arts and the quality of the graduates. These questions are felt by the lecturers and students. The lecturers needed to ensure that their teaching and learning meets the level intended. Students also needed to ensure that what is conveyed can be digested and understood. These challenges are even more critical as this was the first time the Faculty of Fine Art will finally have graduates Majoring in the new Time Based Media. In order for the lecturers to achieve the objective of quality in graduates, lecturers need to also understand the problems that students face and find solutions through the screen. At the same time, students needed to adapt to the new normal. Most of them were staying with families that had also posed additional challenges that were very different from on-campus learning. Within the many limitations of the situation, learning finally proceeded to completion and thankfully all the students had succeeded in completing their assigned tasks to the level expected. Praises and congratulations are most appropriate to all students who have shown high commitment. Tireless efforts displayed through their grit are keys to their success. This same passion if practised and sustained, no matter the challenge, Insya Allah all will be overcome

Pemikiran Teologi Fazlur Rahman

Vision transformer models to measure solar irradiance using sky images in temperate climates
Solar Irradiance measurements are critical for a broad range of energy systems, including evaluating performance ratios of photovoltaic systems, as well as forecasting power generation. Using sky images to evaluate solar irradiance, allows for a low-cost, low-maintenance, and easy integration into Internet-of-things network, with minimal data loss. This work demonstrates that a vision transformer-based machine learning model can produce accurate irradiance estimates based on sky-images without any auxiliary data being used. The training data utilizes 17 years of global horizontal, diffuse and direct data, based on a high precision pyranometer and pyrheliometer sun-tracked system; in-conjunction with sky images from a standard lens and a fish-eye camera. The vision transformer-based model learns to attend to relevant features of the sky-images and to produce highly accurate estimates for both global horizontal irradiance (RMSE =52 W/m2) and diffuse irradiance (RMSE = 31 W/m2). This work compares the model's performance on wide field of view all-sky images as well as images from a standard camera and shows that the vision transformer model works best for all-sky images. For images from a normal camera both vision transformer and convolutional architectures perform similarly with the convolution-based architecture showing an advantage for direct irradiance with an RMSE of 155 W/m2
Current concepts on oxidative/carbonyl stress, inflammation and epigenetics in pathogenesis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a global health problem. The current therapies for COPD are poorly effective and the mainstays of pharmacotherapy are bronchodilators. A better understanding of the pathobiology of COPD is critical for the development of novel therapies. In the present review, we have discussed the roles of oxidative/aldehyde stress, inflammation/immunity, and chromatin remodeling in the pathogenesis of COPD. An imbalance of oxidants/antioxidants caused by cigarette smoke and other pollutants/biomass fuels plays an important role in the pathogenesis of COPD by regulating redox-sensitive transcription factors (e.g., NF-κB), autophagy and unfolded protein response leading to chronic lung inflammatory response. Cigarette smoke also activates canonical/alternative NF-κB pathways and their upstream kinases leading to sustained inflammatory response in lungs. Recently, epigenetic regulation has been shown to be critical for the development of COPD because the expression/activity of enzymes that regulate these epigenetic modifications have been reported to be abnormal in airways of COPD patients. Hence, the significant advances made in understanding the pathophysiology of COPD as described herein will identify novel therapeutic targets for intervention in COPD
Bangladeshi Migrant Shipbuilders in Italy: Rethinking Precarity and Livelihood
In Myanmar, the authorities have committed genocide against the Rohingyas in the Rakhine state. Atrocities have caused more than a million Rohingyas to flee Myanmar to Bangladesh. The majority of Rohingyas have settled in refugee shelters in Ukhiya, Bangladesh. Based on the literature, as well as in-depth interviews with 40 residents in the host community of Ukhiya, fieldwork, and a review of reports published by the United Nations, this chapter explores the devastating effects of refugee settlements on the environment of Ukhiya. The effects of the genocide against the Rohingyas, their displacement across the national border between Myanmar and Bangladesh, and their settlement in Ukhiya have contributed to ecocide in the host community there by devastating its land, water, wildlife, and agriculture. Emergency mitigation measures must be taken to slow the process of environmental degradation in Ukhiya. The Myanmar government must be legally bound to ensure that the genocide against the ..
Exploring the barriers to hydrogen fuel cell vehicles adoption in the Gulf-Europe corridor: a Fuzzy AHP and ISM analysis
The adoption of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (HFCVs) is essential for achieving sustainable, low-carbon transportation, but many barriers hinder this transition. Therefore, this study aims to identify, categorize, and prioritize these barriers in the context of the Gulf-Europe corridor, also known as the Iraq Development Road Project (DRP). To achieve this, we adopt a two-stage methodological framework that integrates the Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (Fuzzy AHP) to quantify the relative importance of thirty secondary barriers, and Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) to explore the interdependencies among the top ten. The Fuzzy AHP results highlight technological, economic, and infrastructure-related barriers as the most critical primary barriers. The ISM analysis further reveals that three barriers, lack of hydrogen production hubs, limited hydrogen transport options, and hydrogen storage and transportation, are independent. Six barriers, fuel cell efficiency and durability, hydrogen production and distribution costs, vehicle range and refueling time, infrastructure investment, refueling station compatibility issues, and hydrogen purity requirements, are classified as linkage barriers. One barrier, high initial vehicle cost, is found to be dependent. To accelerate HFCVs adoption, we recommend strengthening hydrogen infrastructure, fostering technological innovation, reducing costs through targeted incentives, and enhancing policy coordination among stakeholders and policymakers. This study contributes to literature by offering a comprehensive understanding of the adoption barriers and providing actionable insights to support the development of more effective strategies. Notably, it uniquely addresses social, logistical, and technological barriers, alongside geographic barriers, that have been largely overlooked in previous studies
Environmental toxicity, redox signaling and lung inflammation:the role of glutathione
Glutathione (gamma-glutamyl-cysteinyl-glycine, GSH) is the most abundant intracellular antioxidant thiol and is central to redox defense during oxidative stress. GSH metabolism is tightly regulated and has been implicated in redox signaling and also in protection against environmental oxidant-mediated injury. Changes in the ratio of the reduced and disulfide form (GSH/GSSG) can affect signaling pathways that participate in a broad array of physiological responses from cell proliferation, autophagy and apoptosis to gene expression that involve H(2)O(2) as a second messenger. Oxidative stress due to oxidant/antioxidant imbalance and also due to environmental oxidants is an important component during inflammation and respiratory diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and asthma. It is known to activate multiple stress kinase pathways and redox-sensitive transcription factors such as Nrf2, NF-kappaB and AP-1, which differentially regulate the genes for pro-inflammatory cytokines as well as the protective antioxidant genes. Understanding the regulatory mechanisms for the induction of antioxidants, such as GSH, versus pro-inflammatory mediators at sites of oxidant-directed injuries may allow for the development of novel therapies which will allow pharmacological manipulation of GSH synthesis during inflammation and oxidative injury. This article features the current knowledge about the role of GSH in redox signaling, GSH biosynthesis and particularly the regulation of transcription factor Nrf2 by GSH and downstream signaling during oxidative stress and inflammation in various pulmonary diseases. We also discussed the current therapeutic clinical trials using GSH and other thiol compounds, such as N-acetyl-l-cysteine, fudosteine, carbocysteine, erdosteine in environment-induced airways disease
