Caso de estudio de fuentes sísmicas y estructura cortical en volcanes activos: Volcán Irazú (Costa Rica)

Facultad de Ciencias Exactas, Físicas y Naturales; Argentina.Estudiar una región volcánica, desde el punto de vista sismológico y geológico en conjunto, es una herramienta necesaria para conocer diferentes aspectos del sistema volcánico, como la dinámica y mecanismo de transporte de fluidos, las respuestas a esa dinámica y el posible estado de esfuerzos local y regional. Por lo cual esta Tesis se basó en analizar algunos aspectos del estado actual de un estratovolcán activo de América Central, el Volcán Irazú (83°51'09'' W, 9°58'45'' N). Este volcán se ubica en la Cordillera Volcánica Central de Costa Rica, con Índice de Explosividad Volcánica (VEI) de 0 a 3.
El estudio de la estructura profunda de volcanes activos y de sus velocidades sísmicas es fundamental al momento de interpretar la dinámica de dichos volcanes y sus posibles asignaciones de riesgo. Esto condujo al cálculo de funciones receptoras (FR), mediante el uso de telesismos (30º<Δ<90º) registrados en las estaciones de banda ancha VICA y VIRE, las cuales se utilizaron para: 1) obtener un espesor cortical de ~40 km debajo del volcán; 2) calcular valores de Vp/Vs y de coeficientes de Poisson; 3) calcular e interpretar modelos de velocidad de onda S que revelan anomalías de alta (HVZ) y baja
(LVZ) velocidad, vinculadas con la dinámica y los procesos subyacentes a un volcán activo.
En respuesta a esta dinámica, diferentes procesos generan señales sísmicas particulares. Reconocer estos diferentes tipos de señales y sus fuentes permite caracterizar su origen y evolución espacio-temporal. En el Irazú se identificaron 6 familias de señales de periodo largo (LP), 84 eventos en total, en registros continuos de 34 días. Estos eventos presentan frecuencias entre 1 y 3 Hz, con variaciones en amplitud. Las localizaciones de los mismos, corregidas por efecto de sitio, se ubican en el flanco SO del volcán a 1900 msnm, posiblemente vinculadas a un sistema de fallas (rumbo NE-SO). La ocurrencia de eventos de periodo largo o baja frecuencia, como diagnóstico de la actividad interna del volcán, es un tema abierto en el presente y foco de numerosas contribuciones. La diversidad casuística y el número de variables involucradas en la generación de estas señales, requiere un análisis individual en cada volcán que incluya todas sus particularidades. Por lo que difícilmente pueda generalizarse un origen sine qua non de las mismas en ambientes volcánicos. En esta Tesis se estudian e interpretan varias probables fuentes generadoras de señales de periodo largo, dejando abierta las posibles conclusiones al respecto a una futura etapa con mayor cantidad de datos y estaciones.Fil: Villegas Alvarez, Raquel Judith. No full textThis dataset is the result of the research carried out by Silvia Sánchez Calderón (UNED) and Raquel Fernández Fuertes (UVa) in the frame of the Research Group UVALAL (University of Valladolid Language Acquisition Lab, https://uvalal.uva.es/) whose Principal Investigator is Raquel Fernández Fuertes. In this project, the research is conducted on the second language (L2) acquisition of English Dative Alternation (DA) constructions by adult learners whose first language (L1) is Spanish. The results are compared to a control group of L1 English adults. An Acceptability Judgment Task (AJT) was designed for both groups to address grammaticality, sentence structure and word order of the two English DA structures.
The two DA structures under analysis involve, on the one hand, prepositional to-datives that alternate as Double Object Constructions (DOCs) (1) and, on the other hand, prepositional for-datives that alternate as DOCs (2). The main aim of this project is to explore the role played by the L2 English learners' L1 in their sensitivity towards the two syntactic variants, with a particular emphasis on the potential crosslinguistic influence effects (or lack thereof) from Spanish into English and the Universal Grammar (UG) effect on their acquisition.UVALAL1. more commercial tours. As part of travel literature,
the search for the Other(s) reveals alterity and traces
a critical portrait of the plight of the peoples of Latin
America, which result from the processes of coloni-
zation and globalization. The personal encounters

S-wave velocity zones at the Irazú Volcano (Costa Rica)
No full textThe Irazú Volcano (83°51′09″ W, 9°58′45″ N) is located in the middle portion of Costa Rica, close to a highly populated area, and is one of the largest volcanoes in Central America. The knowledge of the nature and characteristics of the crust under a volcano like this is important in order to interpret the roots of the volcano and its reservoirs. Based on the data from two seismic monitoring stations located at the Irazú edifice, the analysis of receiver functions obtained, and the study of the calculated S-wave velocity models by inversion of P-wave receiver functions of teleseismic events, we interpret the existence of low-velocity layers under the Irazú volcano, located at a depth between 10 and 30 km. In the same way, we interpret high velocity zones as caused by intrusive bodies related to the ancient Irazú volcanic cycles. We confirm these interpretations based on the petrogenetic results from previous scientific sources and their integration with the models presented here. In order to get information about the nature and dimensions of the low- and high-velocity layers, we correlate velocity profiles and results show irregular and tilted shapes in agreement with present and ancient magma reservoirs.Fil: Villegas Alvarez, Raquel Judith. Reasonable persuasion: speech in García de la Huerta's Raquel
No full textThis thesis investigates the nature of persuasive speeches made by Hernán García and Raquel in order to persuade King Alfonso to turn his attentions respectively toward the Castillian people and Raquel. Each speech uses particular techniques that are born within the genders of the speakers, and each speech is successful because of these strategies. These speeches reflect the contemporary political atmosphere of the author, García de la Huerta's, literary age and reflect a representation of the events surrounding the Esquilache riots. In this way, the author goes beyond a simple demonstration of the world as it is, but in fact accuses Esquilache of misdeeds by demonstrating him to have fallen into feminine habits of excessive greed and emotion that drive him. The author thus warns Carlos III against such influences that are evidenced in gendered persuasive discourse
