COMPETING RISKS MODEL BASED ON FINE AND GRAY IN PRESENCE OF INTERVAL CENSORED DATA

    No full text
Generally, survival analysis is a significant aspect of statistics that helps in anticipating possible outcomes in the various phenomena of study. A competing risk model is widely used in survival analysis since it not only studies the event of interest but also studies the other possible outcomes and this is the main topic of this research. Various models have been developed by statisticians and are widely used in examining competing risks in real-life phenomena where each model seems to have its strength and weaknesses. The Fine and Gray model is a largely employed method in competing risks analysis for its various advantages, such as the accuracy and the ability to consider multiple competing events. The main goal of this thesis is to analyze the effect of covariate on the cumulative incidence function, the Cox proportional hazards model for the subdistribution is used on both right-censored (RC) data and the model for interval-censored (IC) data. We simulate competing risks data, then we use midpoint imputation to handle the simulated interval-censored and right-censored data. In comparison to the Fine & Gray model with interval -censored data, the simulation results show that our model in this study is applicable and performs well. In additional to that both methods were applied to the MERS data set and the results of the two models show that the covariates have no effect on the cumulative incidence function

    No full text
MECDHH/GBSD has formed a collaborative partnership with several statewide agencies in Maine that serves children who are deaf or hard of hearing and their families. Early screening for children is necessary to provide them the right services. Based on research done in 2018, approximately one in three children did not receive any follow up testing and received no diagnosis. In addition, the social determinants of health plays a big role when it comes to service delivery knowing that Maine is mostly a rural area. In this presentation, we will focus on the activities and the needed priorities identified in the community.https://digitalcommons.library.umaine.edu/ccids_posters/1052/thumbnail.jp

The study aimed to identify the degree of practicing the basic educational competencies of kindergarten teachers from the point of view of the teachers themselves. The study sample consisted of 125 randomly selected teachers. The researcher used the questionnaire as a tool of study consisting of 50 paragraphs divided into five areas (personal competencies, competencies for the management of the classroom and interaction with children, competencies of teaching skills, educational competencies for human relations, and the field of professional growth). After the statistical analysis was performed, the study reached the following results: There were statistically significant differences at 0.05 between the bachelor degree on the one hand and the diploma and postgraduate studies on the other hand. The differences were in favor of Bachelor of personal competencies. Also, there is the existence of statistical significant difference ( 0.05 ) between 10 years and more and 5-10 years. This difference is based on the benefit of 10 years and more educational competencies for the field of human relations. The researcher recommended that training courses should be organized as this would contribute to increasing the efficiency and skills of kindergarten teachers

    No full text
Providing enough food for a growing global population is not only a significant issue for the future but also millions of people worldwide suffer from hidden hunger. Microgreens are renowned for their dense nutrient profile, and higher vitamin levels, minerals, and antioxidants than mature plants. Despite the burgeoning interest in microgreens, the availability of diverse and locally relevant varieties remains limited in many regions, including the UAE. This gap in the availability of indigenous microgreens presents an opportunity to explore alternative sources of nutritious greens tailored to the local environment. Among the indigenous flora of the UAE, the Ghaf (Prosopis cineraria) plant stands out as a promising candidate for microgreen production, owing to its nutritional richness and ecological resilience. Traditionally, the ghaf leaf is consumed by nearly all humans and livestock. This study explored the potential of producing a microgreen from the ghaf seed and investigated leveraging nanotechnology through seed priming to bolster the resilience and productivity of ghaf microgreen and enhance its nutritional value. ZnO nanoparticle-seed priming enhanced seed germination percentage and stimulated parameters of seedling growth of the roots and shoots. The antioxidant capacity as the content of phenolics and flavonoids were also increased in the ghaf microgreens. Variations in individual phenolic compounds such as sinapic acid, gallic acid, benzoic acid, rutin hydrate were observed with the highest expression of the sinapic acid in the leaves. Furthermore, ZnO nanoparticle treatment stimulated protein synthesis in both seeds and microgreens. Overall, this study provides valuable insights into the physiological and nutritional responses of Ghaf seeds and plants to ZnO nanoparticle treatment, laying the groundwork for further research on nanoparticle-based strategies for enhancing crop productivity, nutritional value. The potential impact of the research is to provide innovative and future food from available UAE native plants for sustainable food security

This book is about understanding how to build sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystems. This term is derived primarily from two research fields: entrepreneurial ecosystems and sustainable development. It will delve into how these two terms combine and introduce the concepts of sustainable innovation, social capital, and communities as drivers of the ecosystem’s development. The book is intended for entrepreneurs, academics, researchers, policymakers, investors, or a combination of these, to learn more about how an individual or institution, from any part of an entrepreneurial ecosystem, can actively enhance sustainable economic growth through innovation. Anyone can become an entrepreneurial ecosystem builder from any position they hold in their community. This report explores the aspects that trigger innovation-driven entrepreneurial activities to differentiate from traditional business activities (e.g., coffee shops, beauty salons, flower shops, etc.). It addresses it from the macro- to the meso- and micro-levels to provide a broader context with institutional and individual factors within the ecosystems that act as enablers of entrepreneurs’ innovation activities. The book is structured into chapters with different levels of analysis of the ecosystem. In this regard, Chapter 1 provides an introduction to sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystems. Chapters 2 and 3 focus on exploring the composition and interactions of the ecosystem as drivers of sustainable innovation. Chapters 4 and 5 focus on studying entrepreneurship education and women’s inclusion. Chapter 6 examines the impact of regulations and policies to support minorities in the entrepreneurial community. Chapter 2 starts with an ecosystem mapping of the stakeholders and identifies newcomers and potential gaps that need to be addressed to build an entrepreneurial culture that will drive the ecosystem outputs. Chapter 3 analyzes the existing indicators measuring the impact of innovation activities and compares them across the strategic sectors for sustainable development. Chapter 4 studies the support mechanisms and models of informal entrepreneurship education offered by the business incubators and its effectiveness according to entrepreneurs. Chapter 5 reviews the literature on women’s entrepreneurship in Qatar and provides a conceptual model to build a more inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem. Chapter 6 concludes by identifying and analyzing Qatar’s current policies fostering and constraining entrepreneurial activities, with a unique distinction between expatriates and citizens. At the same time, the author provides policy recommendations based on research collected throughout the report’s chapters

This paper takes the topic of religious freedom. Freedom of belief when faced with the principle of freedom of religion promoted by the declaration of human rights cause differences in public perception. The formulation of freedom of religion can be understood by choosing or embracing a religion, out of a religion and no religion is the scope of freedom of religion. This also affects the law and the provision of transitional religious sanctions contrary to the principle of religious freedom which will affect the violation of human rights. The existence of clash between two interests is the author interested in discussing it further. This research is library research (literature study), with normative approach. Data collection is done by recording, reviewing and reviewing all information obtained from primary and secondary data. After the data collection process is complete, data selection, data grouping, and description process is the compilation of data into a narrative text. Then the data is analyzed qualitatively to get the conclusion. This research produces: 1) There is a difference of opinion of scholars related to the issue of religious transition. The majority of religious scholars believe that the case of religious transition into the hudud finger. This is due to the definite and permanent form of punishment and there is no chance for the ruler to forgive him. Meanwhile, according to Hanafiyah incase this transition case of religion on takzir jarimah, the consequences of death penalty is fixed and permanent, but there is an opportunity for the ruler to forgive him and forgive him; 2) For the murder of transitional people in the shari'ah of Islam is the replacement of religion accompanied by war. The war in the Islamic Shari'ah is a major crime that includes one of the crimes that disrupt the security of the state and damage the existing system
