Modelling the sustainability of heavy goods vehicle distribution operation towards supporting green logistics development / Muhammad Akmal Asyraaf Adlan
Get PDFNowadays, the logistics industry in Malaysia has faced numerous issues and challenges. This industry's critical concern is to reduce operational cost and carbon emission by industry players' fleet. Government and private agencies tend to give more attention to sustain road passenger transports (public and private vehicles) rather than road freight transport (commercial vehicles), especially Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) in a matter of service quality and efficiency as a whole. Despite Malaysia, certain road haulage has not yet implemented the right blueprint of green logistics to fully optimize their resources and operation that will lead to a myriad of problems in HGV operations resulting in higher operational costs and carbon emission emitted. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the sustainability of HGV distribution operation implementation from road haulage companies' perspective to support the bill of efficiency and supports Malaysia's voluntary target to increase economies of scale and indirectly support green logistics development. Sequential quantitative methods research design was used to gather data from questionnaires administered to 100 road haulage companies in the Klang Valley, which have 20 or 40 footer trucks (cargo and container). This research also performed calculations for cost-saving percentage and carbon emission reduction percentage based on three categorised company size, which eventually compared their implementation of sustainable HGV practices. After the data had been analysed to identify the critical dimensions for HGV distribution sustainability implementation, the analyses' results were examined with sustainable HGV distribution implementation in terms of operational strategy, technological system, and vehicle condition. Significant correlations and dimensions were found, and to be used to support the calculation result in the increase of cost-saving and carbon emission reduction by a truck per day. At the end of this study, the researcher provided a conceptual model for sustainable HGV distribution implementation for academic, industry, and body governance to review. Therefore, this study can be one of the industry's guidelines to be aligned with Malaysia 11th Plan and the 2030 Agenda in developing sustainable development goals more aggressively
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
The Effectiveness of Global Positioning System in Tracking Services for Sustainable Road Haulage Operations

With the aid of modern transport technology applications, it can create better visibility within the operation, which will enable more control over the business and stay ahead of the competition. Based on this scenario, the measurement of the effectiveness of tracking services by using the Global Positioning System (GPS) in improving the logistics of transporting goods was developed. Two indicators involved in this study, which are delivery time and fuel consumption. In gathering the data, researchers were conducting observation, monitoring and also a structured interview in Company XYZ focusing on the transport department. The highlights of the analysis are to evaluate the improvement of the delivery time and fuel consumption after implementing the GPS. This analysis has been carried out by assessing the trucking planning and managerial issues encountered by Company XYZ that already implement the GPS as a tracking method since the year 2016. This study is one of the information platforms for the logistics and transportation industry to grow and propel the country into a high-income economy based on the 11th Malaysia Plan [1]
Assessing The Summons Compound for Modifying Motorcycle Exhaust Pipes towards an Environmentally Sustainable
Get PDFMotorcycle modifications, particularly exhaust alterations, have raised concerns as police and the Road Transport Department announced penalties for offenders. Despite the illegality and negative impacts, many owners remain indifferent. This study evaluates public perceptions of summonses issued before full enforcement. Using SPSS regression analysis, results show that most respondents believe modified exhausts harm public order and the environment. The findings highlight the importance of public awareness regarding such offences and may guide future reviews of summons rates and fines. Authorities should address quality management to enhance rider and user satisfaction

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
