Objective: Lack of knowledge about iron supplementation among pregnant women contributes to poor compliance with the therapy. The use of media such as leaflets and short message service (SMS) reminders can be used to improve compliance. This study assessed the effectiveness of SMS reminders and leaflets in complying with iron supplementation in pregnant women. Methods: This quasi-experimental study used two intervention groups with a pre-test and post-test group design. This study was conducted from March to May 2016 in two public health centers in Depok City, Indonesia. A total of 38 respondents in Sukmajaya were given leaflets, and 36 respondents in Pancoran Mas received SMS reminders. Patients\u27 compliance was measured using the MMAS-8 questionnaire, and their hemoglobin levels were measured with HemoCue®. Results: A total of 19 respondents in the leaflet group experienced an increase in their hemoglobin levels (with an average of 0.6 g/dl). A total of 17 respondents in the SMS reminders group experienced an increase in hemoglobin levels (with an average of 1.1 g/dl). Conclusions: There was no difference between leaflets and SMS reminders in terms of improving patients\u27 compliance with iron supplement consumption or with increased hemoglobin levels (p=0.576 and p=0.929, respectively).Â

Objective: This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of counseling and digital booklet on the level of treatment adherence through reduced pain scale, Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8) scores, and pill count scores in patients with cancer pain using opioid analgesics. Methods: The author conducted this study at Dharmais Cancer Hospital with a quasi-experimental design. The study sample consisted of 134 respondents who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, underwent a counseling intervention, and received a digital booklet. The author divided the sample into two groups, the counseling group (n=67) and the digital booklet group (n=67). Adherence level was measured using MMAS-8 and pill count. The pain scale was measured using the Numerical Rating Scale. Those measurements were conducted before the intervention (pre-test) and after 2 weeks of provisioning counseling and receipt of the digital booklet (post-test). Results: The results showed that each counseling and digital booklet improve adherence (p<0.05) and decrease pain scale (p<0.05). There was a significant difference in changes in the level of adherence (p=0.027) between the two groups. However, there was no significant difference in changes in the pain scale (p=0.132) between the two groups. Conclusions: The analysis showed a significant difference (p<0.05) between adherence level and pain scale before and after intervention by both counseling and digital booklet. Nevertheless, adherent increasing and pain scale reduction by counseling is better than a digital booklet

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Aging and diseases associated with aging is a condition associated with old age. An important approach to maintaining health status and physical examination in geriatric patients is very important, including nutrition problems, sight, hearing, urine containment, balance and fall prevention, osteoporosis, and polypharmacy. The use of polypharmacy will give some impact on the elderly, including increasing the improper treatment, adverse drug reactions (ADRs), and some of the problems that affect the changing nature of the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of drugs. Aging in the elderly with some diseases, the possibility of getting more number of drugs consequently has the potential to improve prescribing patterns that are not appropriate and contribute to ADRs and hospitalizations. This review will describe the effect of polypharmacy in elderly patients

The research which involved 98 patient inclution showed that clinical outcome of diabetic ulcer patient who was administered antibiotic based on sensitivity test result was influ-enced by chronic level of patient and age

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
