The article examines the work of the modern Ukrainian artist Oleg Denysenko and his innovative patented invention, which contains a combination of artistic techniques of printmaking, sculpture, levkas and painting. Secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) affects a majority of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in the third and above stages with manifestations of chronic renal failure (CRF), especially in patients undergoing hemodialysis. Despite the temporary effects obtained from taking calcimimetics, there is no significant breakthrough in the treatment of SHPT, and most of the patients require parathyroid surgery (PTS). This review describes the main pathophysiological changes in SHPT, their correction, summarizes the indications for PTS, reflects preoperative preparation, anesthetic management, perioperative intensive care, and possible complications associated with SHPT and CRF. The experience of treating 214 patients with SHPT, 237 PTS (23 in connection with relapse of SHPT), algorithm of examination, preoperative preparation, anesthetic management and perioperative intensive care are presented. In the postoperative period, patients are at risk of severe hypocalcemia and hungry bone syndrome, which require careful monitoring and calcium replenishment

Dietrich Bonhoeffer. 80 Years Since His Passing

    No full text
On 9 April 2025, Christian academia commemorated the 80th year since the death of the prominent German theologian and pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who was executed by the Nazis a month before the end of World War II. Bonhoeffer left behind a great legacy as a minister of the church, as a patriot of his people, and as an author of theological works. Today, his theological contribution includes sixteen volumes of texts plus one volume of registers and appendices in German. Only the eighth volume of Widerstand und Ergebung, which contains letters and notes written by Bonhoeffer when he was already behind bars since April 1943, has been translated into Ukrainian. It was published under the title Sprotyv i pokora (eng. Resistance and Obedience). Any serious study of Bonhoeffer’s work that is being conducted in Ukraine today should be based on these primary sources. One of the main questions that Bonhoeffer raises in his work is: “Who can stand?” His answer is: not the one for whom reason, principles, conscience, personal freedom, and virtue are the highest authority, but the one who is ready to sacrifice all of this if he is convinced that by faith and through an exceptional connection with God he is “called to obedient and responsible action.” The life of such a responsible person is a response to the request and call of God. The only question is “where are these responsible people?” (wo sind die Verantwortlichen?)

The aim of study: A paper is based on some archive documents and other publication and it deals with activities of the Department of General Chemistry in the years 1953-1976. Methods of investigation: historical, biografic and sistematic analisis. Scientific novelty: The staff of the Department, equipment involved in the investigations and main directions of the work are addressed. A personal contribution of each worker into scientific activities in the field of organic chemistry related to the targeted synthesis of the substances with possible pharmaceutical activity is analyzed. It was a highly resultative and productive time and more than 200 derivatives of the quatemary ammonium salts, nitric heterocyclic bases and phosphonium derivatives were synthesized while their physicochemical properties were determined. Finally, the most effective conditions for their synthesis and purification were elaborated. Some examples from this array have been approved as medicines and are still used in regular medical practice (ethonium, thionium, decametoxine, dodeconium and some others), which ensured high scientific authority of Chernivtsi Medical Institute. Serious scientific achievements were backed by effective scientific cooperation between local scientists and workers of other Departments of the Institute. Dozens of scientific theses have been successfully presented. For instance, 17 PhD and 5 DSs theses were presented in the fields of pharmaceutical, chemical and medicinal science on the ground of the compounds synthesized by Assoc. Prof V.P. Denysenko. The 1st degree diploma, one gold (Assoc. Prof V.P. Denysenko) and one silver (Assoc. Prof F.V. Lapshyn) medals were awarded to the Department's members at the all-USSR Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy. Scientific activities of F.V. Lapshyn in Analytical Chemistry has generated further investigations of mineral water sources and therapeutic muds of Chernivtsi region. This gave a push to development of such mineral water brands as "Brusnytska", "Bukovynska", Kelmenetska", "Valea Cosmin", sanatorium in Brusnytsya and rehabilitation section in vil. Scherbyntsi. Two monographs were published, 11 authorship certificates received and more than 200 scientific papers printed by the Department's staff during chairmanship of A.I. Lopyshansky. Conclusions. The paper deals with a stage of fundamentalization of the scientific field related to the targeted organic synthesis of some bioactive compounds at the department
