Lessons Learned from Honeypots - Statistical Analysis of Logins and Passwords

    No full text
Part 3: Security and Privacy IssuesInternational audienceHoneypots are unconventional tools to study methods, tools and goals of attackers. In addition to IP addresses, timestamps and count of attacks, these tools collect combinations of login and password. Therefore, analysis of data collected by honeypots can bring different view of logins and passwords. In paper, advanced statistical methods and correlations with spatial-oriented data were applied to find out more detailed information about the logins and passwords. Also we used the Chi-square test of independence to study difference between login and password. In addition, we study agreement of structure of password and login using kappa statistics

Normative Reasons : Between Reasoning and Explanation

    No full text
Reasons matter greatly to us in both ordinary and theoretical contexts, being connected to two fundamental normative concerns: figuring out what we should do and what attitudes to have, and understanding the duties and responsibilities that apply to us. This book introduces and critiques most of the contemporary theories of normative reasons considerations that speak in favor of an action, belief, or emotion - to explore how they work. Artūrs Logins develops and defends a new theory: the Erotetic view of reasons, according to which normative reasons are appropriate answers to normative why questions (Why should I do this?). This theory draws on evidence of how why-questions work in informal logic, language and philosophy of science. The resulting view is able to avoid the problems of previous accounts, while retaining all of their attractive features, and it also suggests exciting directions for future research. This title is also available as Open Access on Cambridge Core

Izmantotās metodes: Somijas 5 baļļu metode, darbspēju indekss, ergonomisko risku ātrā ekspozīcijas kontrole, psiholoģiskā klimata darba vidē novērtēšanas metode, darbinieku aptauja, mobilo aplikāciju aprobācijas anketa.“Health promotion for office employees using mobile applications”. Elektrolītiskās disociācijas apguve digitalizētā ķīmijas mācību procesā. Marta Podniece, darba vadītājs: Vad. pētn. Dr. chem. Understanding Electrolytic Dissociation in a Digital Teaching and Learning Process. Marta Podniece, Diploma Paper Supervisor: Assistant Professor, Dr.chem. Jazeps Logins. Teachers experience work, 38 pages, 7 images, 2 tables, 33 literature sources and 5 attachments. In Latvian. Experience in the work “Understanding Electrolytic Dissociation in a Digital Teaching and Learning Process”, explores and tests the use of digital tools to enhance students understanding of electrolytic dissociation in upper secondary school chemistry lessons. The paper analyzes aspects of lesson planning, organization, assessment and professional experience, drawing on theoretical insights, practical examples, and student survey feedback. The results show that digital simulations and interactive tasks help students gain deeper understanding of complex chemistry concepts while reducing material costs and safety risks. The author concludes that, despite technological challenges and varying student motivation, a digitalized learning process is effective and improves both student engagement and understanding of the material and lesson curriculum variability. Keywords: chemistry, digital tools, student engagement, electrolytic dissociation, educational innovation

Smartphones for Migrant Integration: A Lifeline, Bridging or Surveillance tool? Migrants’ perceptions of surveillance and social logins in mobile resources

    No full text
Sweden is a highly digitalized society, rapidly changing into a multicultural one. Though migrants use smartphones in their migration journeys and, upon reaching host societies, for integration, i.e. learning language, culture and developing contacts with locals, there are certain potential risks in relation to surveillance. This study explores the use of mobile resources for integration purposes by newly arrived migrants in Sweden, in particular from the perspective of surveillance. Further, it aims to analyze the available mobile resources for migrant integration and how these resources are designed, with special focus on the use of social logins. Mapping of mobile resources in combination with 15 focus-group interviews with newly arrived migrants is used. The results show that the migrants are concerned about surveillance and consciously avoid using the resources in which social logins are required, preferring email as a sign-in option. The mapping of the resources shows that the majority of the resources have multiple sign-in options, including Facebook, Google and email. None has a social login as a sole sign-in, and many resources require no sign-in. Thus, the existing resources pose no apparent risk from the social media surveillance perspective for the migrants to use them. However, as in further development of resources social logins might become needed to track user progress, migrants’ concerns about surveillance should be taken into consideration
