Outer Versus Inner Halo Globular Clusters: NGC 7492 Abundances
We have carried out a detailed abundance analysis for 21 elements in a sample of four RGB stars in the outer halo globular cluster NGC 7492 (R_(GC) 25 kpc); we find [Fe/H] = -1.82 dex inferred from Fe Ilines (-1.79 from Fe II) using high-dispersion (R = λ/Δλ = 35,000) spectra obtained with HIRES at the Keck Observatory. Most elements show no sign of star-to-star variation within our limited sample. We have, however, detected an anticorrelation between O and Na abundances similar to that seen in our previous analyses of inner halo GCs as well as in studies of relatively nearby GCs by others. We compare the abundance ratios in NGC 7492 with those we previously determined for the much closer old halo GCs M3 and M13. After making corrections for trends of abundance ratio with metallicity characteristic of halo stars, we find that for these three GCs, for each of the elements in common we deduce identical abundance ratios with respect to Fe to within the probable measurement uncertainties. Thus, the chemical history of the outer halo as exemplified by the metal-poor outer halo globular cluster NGC 7492 is indistinguishable from that of the inner halo, exemplified by M3 and M13, at least through the epoch of formation of these old globular clusters. This applies to the neutron capture processes as well
Descrição do processo de criminalização secundária, i. We have performed a photometric V,R,I CCD time-series analysis with a baseline of about eight years of the outer-halo globular cluster NGC 7492 with the aim of searching for new variables and using these (and the previously known variables) to determine the physical parameters of interest for the cluster (e.g. metallicity, absolute magnitude of the horizontal branch, distance, etc.). Methods. We used difference image analysis to extract precise light curves in the relatively crowded star field, especially towards the densely populated central region. Several different approaches were used for variability detection that recover the known variables and lead to new discoveries. We determined the physical parameters of the only RR0 star using a light-curve Fourier decomposition analysis. Results. We found one new long-period variable and two SX Phe stars in the blue straggler region. We also present one candidate SX Phe star that requires follow-up observations. Assuming that the SX Phe stars are cluster members and using the period-luminosity relation for these stars, we estimate their distances as ~25.2 ± 1.8 and 26.8 ± 1.8 kpc, and identify their possible modes of oscillation. We refined the periods of the two RR Lyrae stars in our field of view. We found that the RR1 star V2 is undergoing a period change and possibly exhibits the Blazhko effect. A Fourier decomposition of the light curve of the RR0 star V1 allowed us to estimate a metallicity of [Fe/H]ZW ~ −1.68 ± 0.10 or [Fe/H]UVES ~ −1.64 ± 0.13, a log-luminosity log (L/L⊙) ~ 1.76 ± 0.02, an absolute magnitude MV ~ 0.38 ± 0.04 mag, and a true distance modulus of μ0 ~ 16.93 ± 0.04 mag, which is equivalent to a distance of ~24.3 ± 0.5 kpc. All of these values are consistent with previous estimates in the literature.Peer reviewe
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
The globular cluster NGC 7492 and the Sagittarius tidal stream: together but unmixed
We have derived from VIMOS spectroscopy the radial velocities for a sample of 71 stars selected from CFHT/Megacam photometry around the Galactic globular cluster NGC 7492. In the resulting velocity distribution, it is possible to distinguish two relevant non-Galactic kinematic components along the same line of sight: a group of stars at similar to 125 km s(-1) which is compatible with the velocity of the old leading arm of the Sagittarius tidal stream, and a larger number of objects at similar to -110 km s(-1) that might be identified as members of the trailing wrap of the same stream. The systemic velocity of NGC 7492 set at v(r) similar to -177 km s(-1) differs significantly from that of both components, thus our results confirm that this cluster is not one of the globular clusters deposited by the Sagittarius dwarf spheroidal in the Galactic halo, even if it is immersed in the stream. A group of stars with similar to -180 km s(-1) might be comprised of cluster members along one of the tidal tails of NGC 7492.CONICYT-Chile FONDECYT Postdoctoral Fellowship
