Abstract: Real-Time Systems (RTSs) are computer systems that are subject to, in addition to logical requirements, temporal requirements. The ARINC 653 specication describes the functional interface that must be oered to the application software and the time requirements that must be met by Operating Systems (OSs) on which avionics RTSs are executed, i.e. applications related to electronic systems used on aircrafts. One of the key definitions of this specification is the use of temporally and spatially isolated partitions, allowing the execution of multiple applications with different objectives and criticality levels onthe same hardware platform, and also ensuring that any failures inone partition do not affect the execution of the others. This work describes the implementation of an ARINC 653 compatible OS aimed for professionals training and test of new avionics applications, and thus does not aim certification for in-ight operation, which is executed on the hardware platform commercially known as BeagleBone. We also developed a set of configuration tools for the validation of ARINC 653 standard configuration files and the generation of application templates to be run in the OS. The compliance of the OS with the ARINC 653 requirements is evidenced through a set of test cases, which also serve as examples of use and are useful in the process of migration of the OS to other platforms
ARINC 653 API and its application – An insight into Avionics System Case Study
Traditionally automated systems in aircraft were realised using well defined functions that are implemented as federated functional units. Each functional units possesses its own resources with fault containment compared to multiple functions in single processing node. Integrated architectures are structured over the avionics cabinets
or processing cabinets which house the hardware modules and software application partitions along with system software. These integrated modular avionics (IMA) applications supports distributed multiprocessor architecture. Both
time and memory is shared among multiple avionics functionalities across the same platform with good protection mechanisms provided by ARINC 653. ARINC 653 is an additional layer of protection being embedded as part of
real time operating systems supporting the partitioning protections using well defined application executive, and
application programming interfaces (API). IMA uses set of partitions, which are scheduled across a major frame
M consisting set of partitions Ptn and each partition having set of task/process τn/Psn. The number of partitions and number of processes in each partition is a trade-off between the real time requirements and the resource. The paper also presents in brief, the API functionalities, its components, implementation, required interfaces, restrictions based on criticality of the avionics application. Error detection, control mechanisms for data integrity and validity for reconfiguration is also addressed. The experimental and simulation studies related to the API utilization as part of case study is addressed with four partitioned case study demonstrating the normal and failure scenario
Pliocene-Pleistocene stable isotope record of ODP Site 107-653
Planktonic foraminiferal oxygen and carbon isotope analyses from Tyrrhenian Sea Ocean Drilling Program (ODP) Site 653 provide a continuous record of the Pliocene-Pleistocene paleoceanographic history of the Mediterranean. Long-term trends in oxygen isotopes primarily reflect changes in global climatic conditions, with a more local or regional signal superimposed on this record. For example, significant enrichments in 18O due to decreases in surface water temperature and/or increases in continental ice volume occurred at 3.1, 2.7, 2.1, 1.6, and 0.4 Ma.
In contrast to most open-ocean results, the early Pliocene 6lsO record of Site 653 exhibits high-amplitude fluctuations indicative of very unstable climatic conditions in this region. Another unique aspect of this Mediterranean d18Orecord is the pronounced cooling at the Pliocene/Pleistocene boundary. The carbon isotope record for Site 653 also exhibits high-amplitude variability throughout the Pliocene-Pleistocene. This variability most probably reflects changes in the carbon isotopic composition of the source of Mediterranean surface waters

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Exosomal circular RNA hsa_circ_007293 promotes proliferation, migration, invasion, and epithelial–mesenchymal transition of papillary thyroid carcinoma cells through regulation of the microRNA-653-5p/paired box 6 axis
Circular RNAs (circRNAs) or exosomes have been reported to exert key regulatory and/or communication functions in human cancer. Nevertheless, current literature on the effects of exosomal circRNAs on tumor invasion and metastasis in thyroid cancer is incomplete. The role of tumor-derived exosomes in driving in vitro papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) progression and metastasis requires further investigation. In our study, Exosomes were harvested from PTC patient serum and PTC cell culture medium. Gene expression analysis in PTC cell lines and exosomes was performed with quantitative reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction. Transwell, wound healing, Western blot assays, and the cell counting kit-8 were applied for functional analysis. Dual-luciferase reporter assay was used to examine the interaction between hsa_circ_007293 (circ007293), microRNA (miR)-653-5p, and paired box 6 (PAX6). Results showed that circ007293 was enriched in exosomes derived from PTC patient serum and cell culture media. Moreover, circ007293 could enter PTC cells through exosomes, and exosomal circ007293 promoted PTC cell epithelial–mesenchymal transition, invasion, migration, and proliferation. circ007293 knockdown reversed the malignant phenotype of PTC cells in vitro. Additionally, circ007293 could competitively bind with miR-653-5p to regulate PAX6 expression. Notably, miR-653-5p overexpression or PAX6 inhibition suppressed the malignant effects of exosomal circ007293. These results evidenced that exosomal circ007293 induced EMT and augmented the invasive and migratory abilities of PTC cells via the miR-653-5p/PAX6 axis, suggesting that it may serve as a promising biomarker for cancer progression.</p
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
