    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, Mühendislik Bilimleri Bölümü, İmalat Mühendisliği Ana Bilim DalıBu çalışmada, AA 5754 sac malzemenin metal sıvama ve hidrolik akışkanla şekillendirilmesi incelenmiştir. Deneysel çalışmalar için 1mm et kalınlığında 180 mm çapında AA 5754 sac malzeme kullanılmış ve kalıp tasarımı gerçekleştirilmiştir. AA 5754 sac malzemenin oda sıcaklığında elde edilen deney numunelerinden şişme yüksekliği, et kalınlık dağılımı ve kare grid ölçümleri yapılarak şekillendirme sınır diyagramları (ŞSD) çıkartılmıştır. Her iki şekillendirme yöntemi ile yapılan çalışmalar, ANSYS/LS-DYNA yazılımı kullanılarak çözümlenmiş ve sonuçlar karşılaştırılmıştır.In this study, formability of AA 5754 sheet material by metal spinning and hyrdo forming was investigated. AA5754 sheet material with 1 mm thickness and 180 mm diameter is used for the study and mould design was made for the experiments. Forming limit diagrams (FLD) were developed by using inflation height, thickness and square grid measurements obtained from AA 5754 sheet material test samples at room temperature. Both forming studies were analysed by using ANSYS / LS-DYNA software, and the results were compared to each other

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Small diameter hydrostatic forming of Al 5754 and Al 1050 sheets

    Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, Makine Eğitimi Ana Bilim DalıHidro şekillendirme metal sac malzemenin akışkan bir ortam (su, viskoz polimerik malzeme vs) vasıtasıyla kapalı bir kapta yapılan soğuk şekillendirme yöntemidir. Bu yöntem çok karmaşık parçaların şekillendirilebilmesi, üretim periyodunun kısa olmasından dolayı cazip hale gelmiştir. Bununla beraber uygulama alanlarının nispeten sınırlı olmasına rağmen, şekillendirme işleminin daha iyi sonuçlar vermesi, şekillendirme sırasında kırışıklıkların az olması ve şekillendirme işleminin de daha kolay yapılabilmesinden dolayı tercih edilmektedir.Bu çalışmada, kalıp içerisinde elde edilen hidrostatik basınçla alüminyum sacların küçük çapta şekillendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Malzemenin şekillenmesi için gerekli basınca dayanıklı ve basınçlı akışkanın sızmasını önleyecek bir şekillendirme kalıbı tasarlanarak deney düzeneği kurulmuştur. Çalışmada 38 mm çapında dişi kalıp kullanılmıştır. Deney numuneleri olarak 0,5 mm kalınlığında Al 5754 ve 0,6 mm kalınlığında Al 1050 sac malzemesi seçilmiştir.Hidro şekillendirme deneyinde 104 mm çapında Al 5754 ve Al 1050 taslak sac malzemesi kullanıldığında, taslak malzemenin şeklinden ve büyüklüğünden dolayı yeterli çekme derinlikleri elde edilememiştir. Bundan dolayı çalışmada 68 mm çapında taslak levha kullanılmıştır. 68 mm çapında Al 5754 kullanıldığında sıvı basıncı 7,5 MPa, pot baskı kuvveti 8 MPa için 16 mm çekme derinliği elde edilmiştir. 68 mm çapında AL1050 malzemesinde sıvı basıncı 4 MPa, pot baskı kuvveti 4 MPa için 19 mm çekme derinliği elde edilmiştir. Yapılan çalışmanın teorik modelinden elde edilen çekme derinlikleri ise 68 mm Al 5754 sac malzemesinde 20,98 mm, 68 mm Al 1050 sac malzemesinde 23,45 mm olarak bulunmuştur.Şekillendirmenin teorik modeli eksplisit dinamik analiz kodu kullanan ANSYS/Ls-Dyna yazılımı kullanılarak oluşturulmuş ve model çözümlenmiştir. Deneysel ve teorik sonuçların kalınlık değişimleri ve şekillendirme miktarlarının karşılaştırılması yapılmıştır. Geliştirilen teorik modellerde, basıncın ve baskı plakası kuvvetinin şekillendirmeye etkisi incelenmiştir. Kalınlık dağılımlarına göre teorik ve deneysel sonuçlar karşılaştırılmış, kalınlık değişim grafikleri ve teorik olarak şekillendirme sınır diyagramları oluşturulmuştur.Anahtar Sözcükler : Akışkanla şekillendirme, Sonlu elemanlar metodu, Al 5754, Al 1050Hydro forming is a cold forming method in which metal sheet material is formed in a closed pot by means of fluid medium (water, viscous polymeric material). This method becomes attractive since the manufacture period is short in order to form very complex parts. Although, application areas are very limited, this forming method is preferred because there are less wrinkles during forming and forming process can be done easily.In this study, it was aimed to form aluminum sheets on a small diameter by hydrostatic pressure acquired within a mold .The experiment setup was organized by designing a formation mold that is resistant to pressure needed for forming of material and prevents leaking of compressed fluid . Mold 38 mm in diameter was used in this study. 0.5 mm thick Al 5754 and 0.6 mm thick Al 1050 sheet materials were chosen as experiment samples.When Al 5754 and Al 1050 that were 104 mm in diameter draft sheet materials were used, enough pulling depth couldn?t achieved because of shape and bigness of draft material in the hydro forming experiment. Because of this reason, draft plate that is 68 mm in diameter was used in this study. When Al 5754 that is 68 mm in diameter, liquid pressure was 7.5 MPa, 16mmm pulling dept was achieved for pot press force 8 MPa. Liquid pressure was 4 MPa, 19 mm pulling dept was achieved for pot press force 4 MPa in Al 1050 material that was 68 mm. Pulling depths acquired from theoretical models of the study were 20.98 mm in 68 mm Al 5754 sheet material and 23.45 mm in 68 mm Al 1050 sheet material.Theoretical model of the forming was generated by using ANSYS/Ls-Dyna software using explicit dynamic analyze code and the model was solved. Comparison of depth exchange of experimental and theoretical results and forming quantities were carried out. Effect of pressure and pres plate to forming within developed theoretical models was searched. Theoretical and experimental results were compared according to thickness distribution, thickness change graphics and theoretical forming border diagrams were generated.Keywords : Forming by liquid, finite element method, Al 5754, Al 105

    Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
