Let B(X)\mathcal{B}(X) be the algebra of all bounded linear operators on a complex Banach space XX with dimX3\dim X \geq 3. In this paper, we characterize the maps from B(X)\mathcal{B}(X) into itself which preserves the dimension of the local spectral subspace relative to {1}\{1\} of the product of operators. The form of the maps from B(X)\mathcal{B}(X) into itself preserving the local spectral subspace relative to {1}\{1\} of the product of operators are also described

Three news hybridis of Serapias in Salento (Southern Apulia): Serapias xromanoi (S. neretina x S. vomeracea), Serapias xnatalizioi (S. neretina x vomeracea var. longipetala) and xserapicamptis nohae Canacamptis papilionacea x neretina

The recent elevation to the rank species of Serapias neretina promoted in-depth studies on the conservative state of its populations and their diffusion in Apulia. The distribution known to date of Serapias neretina refers chiefly to its locus typicus represented by the locality of Porto Selvaggio, in the municipality of Nardò, province of Lecce, on the western Ionian coast; on the same line of coast, there is a small population in Bosco Cuturi, municipality of Manduria, province of Taranto. Other site where S. neretina grows abundant is in the municipality of Tricase, in the province of Lecce; therefore, recently (2024) some populations of S. neretina has been identified in the municipality of Monteroni, province of Lecce and in the municipality of Nohae, fraction of Galatina, province of Lecce. The relatively widespread diffusion of S. neretina, from the province of Lecce to the province of Taranto, on large coastal stretches and in the internal areas of Salento, has led to a deepening of knowledge on this species, on its distribution and on the conservative state of the populations through repeated inspections and field observations; during these visits some hybrids of Serapias neretina were identified, the taxonomic specifications of these are reported below: Serapias ×romanoi (Serapias neretina × Serapias vomeracea); Serapias ×natalizioi (Serapias neretina × Serapias vomeracea var. longipetala) and ×Serapicamptis nohae ( Anacamptis papilionacea × Serapias neretina). The first two hybrids, interspecific, are mainly united by the presence of a wide and ventricular bract, that represents an element that characterizes S. neretina, but the two entities are visibly dissociated from it by the labellum shape; this recalls -and sometimes appears intermediate- in the first case the not very elongated, relatively narrow and vomer-shaped one of S. vomeracea; in the second one, the labellum still arouses keen attention, as it appears decidedly elongated and narrow, inescapably reminding S. vomeracea var. longipetala. The analytical path towards the intergeneric hybrid ×Serapicamptis nohae appears more complex as the morphological traits diverge more profoundly from the original parental forms; in this case the structure plant, the size and number of the flowers, the shape and extension of the bract with respect to the tepal hood, the length/width ratio of the labellum, the conformation of the epichile, the structure of the callus with its lamellae, the overall pigmentation as well as some traits of taxonomic importance took on importance. Field observations and laboratory analyzes suggest, however, that much material still awaits its adequate taxonomic placement and the ongoing investigations will probably tend to further enrich the list of Serapias hybrids from Salento

El cuerpo de/en la escritura. Lengua, poder y resistencias en Las niñas del naranjel, de Gabriela Cabezón Cámara

No full text
Gabriela Cabezón Cámara’s writing presents an aesthetic proposal that highlights Latin American cultural heterogeneity. The Argentine author’s poetic may be included in the so-called “neobarroso”, in the genealogy of Néstor Perlongher, who in turn continues and transforms the baroque and neo-baroque tradition. In this work, based on theoretical categories from Michel Foucault, Judith Butler and Giorgio Agamben, I propose to deal with the latest novel by Cabezón Cámara, Las niñas del naranjel, to study the tensions with the hegemonic discourse, in relation to the discourse of confession, the construction of the other and the exercise of power, with respect to both the colonial past and the Latin American present and future

Sulla sostituzione di se con ci nei dialetti salentini: note diatopiche e diacroniche

No full text
EnThe contribution sets out to investigate the diachronic dynamics of the well-known phenomenon whereby, in some Salento dialects, the conjunction se (< Lat. SI) is replaced by a form ci identical to the complementizer and relative pronoun ci < QUI. Notoriously, the phenomenon affects a large section of eastern southern dialects, extending from eastern Lucania to the Capo di Leuca including Bari (ROHLFS779). On the basis of the diachronic documentation of the Salento varieties, the hypothesis is put forward here that the innovation had its epicentre in the eastern "Upper South (Alto-meridionale)" varieties, before spreading to the dialects of Terra d'Otranto at a later stage, after the 17th century. Particularly relevant in this respect are medieval Salento documents, which bear no trace of the phenomenon, and the dialect literature of the early 18th century, in which the feature is only reliably documented in northern Salento texts, in particular in the comedy Nniccu Furcedda written in the dialect of Francavilla Fontana

La politica del feed. Serialità, affetti ed ecologie discorsive nella società piattaformizzata = The Politics of the Feed: Seriality, Affects and Discursive Ecologies in the Platform Society

No full text
This article explores the serial nature of digital political communication, arguing that contemporary politics increasingly unfolds as a sequence of episodic, affectively charged and algorithmically distributed content. Moving beyond the aesthetics of seriality, the article identifies four interwoven dimensions - algorithmic, affective, memetic, and infrastructural seriality - through which the logic of the feed organizes visibility, attention, and engagement within platformized public spheres. Drawing on the concept of feed temporality, the paper shows how the rhythm of communication is governed not by linear deliberation but by the kairologic logic of algorithmic media: the right content at the right time to maximize affective resonance. Political participation becomes bingeable, incivility is normalized as a performative style, and memes function as vernacular technologies that encode emotional idioms such as resentment. Against this backdrop, the article outlines the conditions for discursive ecologies capable of interrupting toxic serialities and fostering alternative narrative infrastructures based on care, reflexivity, and symbolic cohabitation. The aim is to reconceptualize visibility not merely as exposure, but as a shared responsibility in the design of democratic communication

Introducing Maximalism: Rethinking Radical Ideological Opposition in Israel and Palestine

No full text
This article looks at the ideological extremisms guiding radical movements in Israel and Palestine. The ideological frameworks through which political actors in the conflict have been examined look at them individually or by "camp" (i.e. the Israeli camp and the Palestinian camp). This article uses the category of 'maximalism' to argue that extremist ideas on both sides feed off each other and should therefore be studied together. Maximalism can be defined as an ideology itself, i.e. a system of ideas that influence the perception and practices of actors, particularly when related to violence to achieve a goal. This ideational and practical whole, associated with terrorism and revolution, needs to be compared to understand the dynamics that emerge

How a Dehumanising Form of Language Can Impact Outgroups' Decision to Engage in Violence: An Analysis of the Italian Far Left

No full text
Despite considerable scholarship investigating engagement in violence, literature has overlooked how daily interpersonal relations and the use of a moralistic form of language impact individuals' decision to engage in violence. Presenting my research findings, this paper intends to bridge this gap by examining personal stories of a group of Italian former far-left militants, operating during the 'Years of Lead'. It employs narrative analysis, using Rosenberg's and Gilligan's perspectives on violent behaviour as theoretical lens. This paper identifies a three-step process, resulting from human cognition and partly implemented through a moralistic form of communication: firstly, employing Manichaean worldviews to make sense of society: secondly, the progressive dehumanisation of those falling into the negative side of these worldviews - outgroups; finally, outgroups' choice of engaging in violence. This paper finds that by promoting outgroups' dehumanisation, a form of language based on moralistic divisions significantly contributes to shaping outgroups' decision to engage in violence

Fostering school engagement and social support in postsecondary school: the roles of ethnic studies and sense of community and belonging

No full text
Background: Ethnic studies has been found to foster students’ school engagement and social support in schools. However, to date, there has been no study that has specifically examined the relationships of ethnic studies with the three psychosocial dimensions of students’ school engagement (i.e., emotional, behavioral, and cognitive) and their social support, as well as the potential factors that mediate these relationships. Method: We conducted 17 in-depth interviews with university students with varying exposures to ethnic studies to examine how ethnic studies fostered their school engagement and social support, and how sense of community and sense of belonging mediated these positive effects of ethnic studies. Results: From our thematic analysis of our interview data, we identified two main themes: (1) opportunities for peer-to-peer learning, and (2) barriers to learning from ethnic studies. Conclusion: In-class, teacher-facilitated, student-led class discussions in ethnic studies and active participation in university-sanctioned, ethnoracial minority-centered registered student organizations provided underrepresented students considerable opportunities to promote their peer-to-peer learning and gain greater sense of community and sense of belonging in postsecondary school, which in turn, fostered their emotional and behavioral school engagement and social support. Future research could focus on strategies to address barriers to learning from ethnic studies
