Features of Translating Terms in Texts on Art

Navigating Digital Borders: Seto Community in the Virtual Territory of the VK Social Network

Published online 30 April 2025.The paper examines the digital geography of the virtual Seto community in the VK social network (also known as VKontakte), focusing on how dispersed Seto people in Russia and Estonia use digital spaces to communicate, as well as express, preserve, and promote their cultural identity. By applying a multi-sited ethnographic methodology, the research involves both online explorations and offline semi-structured interviews, with fieldwork conducted in the Pechory District. Using the network and territory approaches to digital ethnography, the study highlights how the VK serves as a digital territory where Setos, divided by distances and physical borders, connect, share cultural practices, and foster a sense of community. Special attention is given to the Seto traditions of leelo polyphonic singing and festive costumes, both of which serve as vital markers of ethnic identity in this digital landscape. Through content analysis of Seto personal profiles and public pages, the research reveals how social networks help maintain connections and how digital geographies are constantly shaped and reshaped by cultural exchanges. Comparison of the Concepts of Genius and Taste in the Russian Literary and Theoretical Thought of the Early 19th Century (Based on Translated Publications)

Accepted: 28.04.2025.В статье прослеживается становление в России начала XIX в. философско-литературного понятия гений, семантическое наполнение которого стало в Европе предметом активного обсуждения в связи с темой истинного творчества и вдохновения. В качестве материала использованы переводные литературно-критические и эссеистические публикации в журналах, издатели которых занимали разные идейно-художественные позиции. Обращаясь к трудам европейских теоретиков литературы (Вольтера, Ж. Ф. Лагарпа и др.), русские авторы критически осваивают переводимый материал, что отражается, в том числе, на понятийном аппарате. Так, актуальное для французской критики сопоставление génie (гений) и gout (вкус) проникает сначала в переводные публикации, а затем становится объектом рассмотрения в оригинальных теоретико-литературных статьях: гений рассматривается как природная, врожденная способность, которая как психоэмоциональная характеристика человека соприкасается с приобретенной «способностью распознавать» — вкусом. В статье проанализированы работы Н. Брусилова, И. Мартынова и А. Шишкова, П. Карабанова — авторов, занимающих во многом полемические позиции в оценке роли европейской традиции для становящейся новой русской словесности. Однако для всех исследованных авторов начальной точкой их рассуждений являлись западные труды и прежде всего «Ликей, или Круг словесности древней и новой» теоретика французского классицизма Лагарпа. Просветительская эстетика, доминирующая в переводных работах, посвященных определению гения в сопоставлении с понятием вкус, переносится на русскую почву одновременно с актуализацией национальных особенностей русской словесности и устойчивым сохранением античной традиции, которая преподносится как эталонное сочетание гения и вкуса.This article examines the emergence of the philosophical and literary concept of genius in early nineteenth-century Russia. The concept’s semantic content became a point of discussion in Europe, particularly in relation to the themes of true creativity and inspiration. The author cites translated literary, critical, and essayistic publications in magazines whose publishers adopt divergent ideological and artistic positions. European literary theorists (Voltaire, J.-F. de la Harpe, etc.) provided a foundation for Russian authors to critically assimilate translated material, as evidenced by the conceptual apparatus. Therefore, the comparison of génie (genius) and gout (taste) is a topic of interest for French criticism. It first appears in translated publications and is subsequently examined in original theoretical and literary articles. Genius is often considered a natural and innate ability. As a psycho-emotional characteristic of a person, it intersects with the acquired “ability to recognize”, i.e. taste. The article provides an analysis of the works of N. Brusilov, I. Martynov, A. Shishkov, and P. Karabanov. These authors adopt largely polemical positions in their assessment of the role of the European tradition in the emerging new Russian literature. However, for all the authors studied, the starting point of their reasoning was Western works and, above all, the Lycée, ou cours de littérature ancienne et moderne by de la Harpe, a theorist of French classicism. The Study of the Relationship between the Components of Personal Maturity and Perfectionist Attitudes in Sports

Accepted: 15.05.2025.Современный спорт предполагает непрерывное совершенствование мастерства и стремление к значительному уровню достижений в строго регламентированных условиях жесткой конкуренции, так как связан с высокими результатами. Спортивная деятельность требует от участников исключительного технического мастерства при проведении соревнований, а также развитой силы воли во время тренировочного процесса. Все это приводит к тому, что спортсмены вынуждены тратить колоссальное количество физических и психологических ресурсов. Цель исследования – выявить связь компонентов личностной зрелости и перфекционистских установок в спорте. Исследование проводилось базе Федеральное государственное бюджетное образовательное учреждение высшего образования «Кубанский государственный университет физической культуры, спорта и туризма», в нем приняли участие 60 спортсменов, занимающихся командными видами спорта. Возрастной диапазон составил от1 8 до 20 лет.
Выводы. В результате проведенного эмпирического исследования было выявлено, что в соревновательный период перфекционизм положительно коррелирует с системной рефлексией, квазирефлексией, интроспекцией, восприятием внутреннего мира и конфликтами, внутренние диалоги могут усиливать перфекционистские стремления и создавать деструктивные эмоциональные паттерны. Во время тренировок анализ собственного состояния не усиливает перфекционистские тенденции, в отличии от проведения данного анализа в соревновательный период. Единственной общей характеристикой для тренировок и соревнований является отрицательная связь с «Процессом жизни».Modern sport involves continuous improvement of skills and striving for a significant level of achievement in strictly regulated conditions of fierce competition, as it is associated with high results. Sports activities require participants to have exceptional technical skills during competitions, as well as developed willpower during the training process. All this leads to the fact that athletes are forced to spend a huge amount of physical and psychological resources. The purpose of the study is to identify the relationship between the components of personal maturity and perfectionist attitudes in sports. The study was conducted on the basis of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education “Kuban State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism”, 60 athletes involved in team sports participated in it. The age range ranged from 18 to 20 years old. Conclusions. As a result of empirical research, it was revealed that during the competitive period perfectionism positively correlates with systemic reflection, quasi-reflection, introspection, perception of the inner world and conflicts, internal dialogues can enhance perfectionist aspirations and create destructive emotional patterns
During training, analyzing one’s own condition does not enhance perfectionist tendencies, unlike conducting this analysis during the competitive period. The only common characteristic for training and competition is a negative connection with the “Process of Life”
