Effect of printing orientation on the fracture strength of additively manufactured 3-unit interim fixed dental prostheses after aging
Objectives: To evaluate the effect of printing orientation on the fracture strength of 3-unit interim fixed dental prostheses fabricated by using additive manufacturing and to compare with those fabricated by subtractive manufacturing after thermomechanical aging. Materials and methods: A 3-unit fixed dental prosthesis was designed by using a dental design software (exocad DentalCAD 2.2 Valetta) in standard tessellation language (STL) format. This STL file was exported into a nesting software (PreForm) and 3-unit interim fixed dental prostheses with 5 different orientations (0◦, 30◦, 45◦, 90◦, and 150◦) were printed by using a 3-dimensional (3D) printing interim resin (Temporary CB) (n = 10). The same STL file was also used to mill polymethymethacrylate (DuoCAD) 3-unit interim fixed dental prostheses as the control group (n = 10). All specimens were cemented onto cobalt-chromium test models representing a maxillary first premolar and first molar tooth with a long-term temporary cement (DentoTemp), and subjected to thermomechanical aging (120,000 cycles, 1.6 Hz, 50 N, 5–55 ◦C). Then, all specimens were loaded until fracture by using a universal tester. The data were analyzed with nonparametric 1-way analysis of variance (Kruskal-Wallis) and Dunn’s tests (α = 0.05). Results: Additively manufactured specimens printed with 90◦ showed the lowest fracture strength values (P≤.048). However, the difference between specimens printed with 45◦ and 90◦ was nonsignificant (P>.05). Milled 3-unit interim fixed dental prostheses withstood significantly higher loads than 3-unit interim fixed dental prostheses printed with 45◦ and 150◦ (P≤.012). In addition, specimens printed with 0◦ showed higher fracture strength than the specimens printed with 45◦ (P=.01). Specimens printed with 0◦ and 30◦ presented similar fracture strength values with milled (P≥.057) and 150◦ printed (P>.05) specimens. Conclusions: Printing orientation had a significant effect on the fracture strength of 3-unit interim fixed dental prostheses. Among the additively manufactured samples, those printed with 0◦ showed similar fracture strength values with the subtractively manufactured samples. Clinical significance: Three-unit interim fixed dental prostheses fabricated with 0◦ and 30◦ using the 3D printing interim resin tested may be alternatives to milled PMMA in terms of fracture strength
A delayed plant disease model with caputo fractional derivatives
Abstract We analyze a time-delay Caputo-type fractional mathematical model containing the infection rate of Beddington–DeAngelis functional response to study the structure of a vector-borne plant epidemic. We prove the unique global solution existence for the given delay mathematical model by using fixed point results. We use the Adams–Bashforth–Moulton P-C algorithm for solving the given dynamical model. We give a number of graphical interpretations of the proposed solution. A number of novel results are demonstrated from the given practical and theoretical observations. By using 3-D plots we observe the variations in the flatness of our plots when the fractional order varies. The role of time delay on the proposed plant disease dynamics and the effects of infection rate in the population of susceptible and infectious classes are investigated. The main motivation of this research study is examining the dynamics of the vector-borne epidemic in the sense of fractional derivatives under memory effects. This study is an example of how the fractional derivatives are useful in plant epidemiology. Can the reduction of cytokines stop the progression of sepsis?
Objective: In this study, we aimed to analyze the laboratory and clinical results of cytokine hemadsorption as an immunomodulation therapy in ICU patients diagnosed with sepsis or septic shock. Methods: The levels of procalcitonin (PCT) and C-reactive protein (CRP), determined to be indicators of infection/sepsis, and the levels of interleukins (IL-6, IL-8, and IL-10) and tumor necrosis factor α (TNFα), deemed as indicators of the cytokine storm, were compared among 32 patients before and after the hemadsorption procedure. Results: The hemadsorption significantly reduced the levels of IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, TNFα, PCT, CRP, Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE) scores, mortality rate, and Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) scores (p30, and PMR >70.33 were significantly associated with the mortality rates of all patients, indicating that these three parameters determined before the hemadsorption may be good predictors of mortality among ICU patients with sepsis. Conclusion: The progression of sepsis in ICU patients may be prevented with cytokine hemadsorption applied as an immunomodulator therapy
The effects of cyanoacrylate on clinical healing and selfreported outcomes following free gingival graft surgery: A randomized clinical study
Objective: This study aims to reveal the effects of cyanoacrylate application at the recipient bed and the donor site in free gingival graft surgery on graft dimensions, clinical healing parameters and patient-based outcomes. Methods: Free gingival graft operations were conducted on individuals who were randomly assigned to control or test groups. In the test group, the graft was stabilized and the donor site was coated with cyanoacrylate. In the control group, 6/0 polyvinylidene fluoride sutures were used for stabilization, while the donor site was left untreated. Variables including re-epithelization, post-operative complications, pain, bleeding and quality of life at recipient site, and color match, graft dimensions at donor site were assessed for up to 6 months. Results: Twenty-three individuals completed the study. No differences were observed in any variable between groups except horizontal dimension loss of the graft, which was more abundant in the cyanoacrylate group at six months (p>0.05, p<0.05; respectively). Conclusion: According to our results, cyanoacrylate can be used safely for free gingival graft surgery, but does not surpass conventional suturing with polyvinylidene fluoride
Digital storytelling experiences of primary school students in distance education: An analysis on students' perceptions of collaborative working
This research aimed to examine primary school students' experiences of preparing and using digital stories and their perceptions of collaborative work in distance education. This qualitative case study consisted of 36 fourth grade primary school students determined by easily accessible case sampling. Data were collected through questionnaire and semi-structured interviews prepared by the researchers. The survey data were subjected to descriptive statistics and content analysis was employed in the analysis of semi-structured interview data. The results indicated that primary school students could work collaboratively, prepare and present homework with the use of digital storytelling (DS) in distance education. In addition, primary school students were able to express themselves, interact with each other and had a high level of participation in the lesson conducted with DS. Based on the results of this research, it is suggested to conduct collaborative studies such as digital storytelling in distance education
Is there a relation between the lower extremity mechanics and patellofemoral pain syndrome?
Abstract Objective: It has been theorized that changes in the lower extremity mechanics may lead to develop Patellofemoral Pain (PFP) in the young population. The present study aims to investigate the effects of lower extremity mechanics on Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome in private university students. Material-Method: Kujala Patellofemoral Score (KPS) of 400 Yeditepe University students ages of 18-30 years was performed. Students having a less or equal point of 85 in KPS (n=30) and healthy groups randomly selected in students with KPS=100 (n=30) were measured in terms of Feiss Line, navicular drop, subtalar angle, tibial torsion, knee valgus angle, Q angle in standing and supine position and hamstring tightness. Results: The prevalence of PFP among students was found to be 10.5% (n = 42). In the PFP group, 16 (%53.3) students and in the control group, 3 (%10) students had 2 nd Pes Planus (PP). A Mathematical Model Analysis of Meningitis with Treatment and Vaccination in Fractional Derivatives
In this paper, we develop a new mathematical model based on the Atangana Baleanu Caputo (ABC) derivative to investigate meningitis dynamics. We explain why fractional calculus is useful for modeling real-world problems. The model contains all of the possible interactions that cause disease to spread in the population. We start with classical differential equations and extended them into fractional-order using ABC. Both local and global asymptotic stability conditions for meningitis-free and endemic equilibria are determined. It is shown that the model undergoes backward bifurcation, where the locally stable disease-free equilibrium coexists with an endemic equilibrium. We also find conditions under which the model’s disease-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable. The approach of fractional order calculus is quite new for such a biological phenomenon. The effects of vaccination and treatment on transmission dynamics of meningitis are examined. These findings are based on various fractional parameter values and serve as a control parameter for identifying important disease-control techniques. Finally, the acquired results are graphically displayed to support our findings

Özet: Amaç: Amerikan Orofasiyal Ağrı Akademisi tarafından tanımlanan Temporomandibular Eklem
Disfonksiyonu, eklemlerin ve çiğneme kaslarının neden olduğu problemleri ve çiğneme sisteminin tüm fonksiyonel
bozukluklarını içeren bir terimdir. Bu terim, orofasiyal bölgede ağrı, ağız açıklığında kısıtlama, çiğneme
kaslarında yorgunluk hissi ve TME’deki sesler gibi semptomlarla karakterize kas-eklem bozukluklarını tanımlar.
Çalışmamızda klinik muayene bulgularıyla eklem hastalıklarında ağrı bozukluklarının USG ile değerlendirilmesi
amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem: Araştırmamıza 01.01.2020 ve 01.01.2021 tarihleri arasında TME rahatsızlıkları nedeni
ile müracaat eden 18 yaş üstü 100 hasta katılmıştır. Hastaların klinik muayenesinde araştırma tanı kriterleri
açısından hekimin doldurduğu Temporomandibular Disfonksiyon/Tanı Kriterleri formu ve hastaların doldurduğu
Ağrı Bilgi Formu kullanılmıştır. Hastaların radyolojik muayenesinde Lineer ve Intraoral Problar uygulanmıştır.
Bulgular: Çalışmaya katılan ve ağrı bozukluğu tanısı konulan hastaların USG verileri değerlendirildiğinde sadece
kasılı haldeki sol masseter kas kalınlığında tanı grupları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark görülmüş olup diğer parametrelerde istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark görülmemiştir. Tartışma ve Sonuç: Ayrıntılı klinik, fiziksel ve ilave psikolojik muayeneler TMD tanısı için altın standart olarak kabul edilir. Yöntem, bu tür bilgileri oluşturmazsa prosedürün maliyet-fayda oranı çok düşüktür. Bununla birlikte TMD'nin klinik tanısı objektif bir değerlendirme ile birlikte hastanın semptomlarına da dayandığı için araştırmacılar, TME hastalıklarının sadece klinik muayene ile güvenilir bir şekilde değerlendirilemeyeceğini bildirmişlerdir. Sonuç olarak bizim çalışmamızda da görüldüki ağrı bozukluklarında USG tanıda yardımcı araç olarak kullanılabilirAbstract: Aim: Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction, defined by the American Academy of Orofacial Pain, is a
term that includes all functional disorders of the masticatory system and problems caused by the joints and
masticatory muscles. This term describes musculoskeletal disorders characterized by pain in the orofacial region,
restriction in mouth opening, a feeling of fatigue in the masticatory muscles, and noises in the TMJ. Our study
aimed to evaluate pain disorders in joint diseases by USG with clinical examination findings. Method: 100 patients
over 18 who applied for TMJ disorders between 01.01.2020 and 01.01.2021 participated in our study. In the
clinical examination of the patients, the Temporomandibular Dysfunction/Diagnostic Criteria form filled by the
physician and the Pain Information Form filled by the patients were used in terms of the research diagnostic
criteria. In the radiological examination of the patients, Linear and Intraoral Probes were applied Results: When
the USG data of the patients who participated in the study and were diagnosed with pain disorder were evaluated,
a statistically significant difference was observed between the diagnosis groups only in the left masseter muscle thickness in the contracted state (p<0.005) and no statistically significant difference was observed in other
parameters. Discussion and Conclusion: Detailed clinical, physical and additional psychological examinations
are considered the gold standard for diagnosing TMD. If the method does not generate such information, the costbenefit ratio of the procedure is meager. However, since the clinical diagnosis of TMD is based on the patient's
symptoms together with an objective assessment, researchers have reported that TMJ diseases cannot be reliably
evaluated by clinical examination alone. In conclusion, USG can be used as an additional tool in diagnosing pain
disorders, which was also seen in our study
A conceptual framework on quality control circle and its applications in healthcare
Öz Kalite Kontrol Çemberi, çalışanların çalışma ve performans motivasyonunu arttırmak ve karar verme sürecine katılmaları için etkili bir araçtır. Sağlık hizmetlerinde kaliteyi arttırmak, çalışanları karar verme sürecine katmak, çalışanların performansı artırmak, hata oranını azaltmak gibi süreçleri yönetebilmek için ekip çalışması önemlidir. Bu derleme sağlık hizmetlerinde kalite kontrol çemberlerinin kullanımı ve yararına yönelik kavramsal bir literatür araştırması amacıyla yapılmıştır. Kalite kontrol çemberleri faydaları ve yapısı hakkında kavramsal çerçeveye ek olarak, sağlık hizmetlerinde uygulamalara ilişkin literatür örnekleri verilerek çemberlerin önemi vurgulanmıştır. Kalite kontrol çemberleri kaliteyi, çalışan performansını ve iş doyumunu artırmaya yönelik etkili bir araç olarak kullanılabilir. This review was made for the purpose of a conceptual literature search on the use and benefit of quality control circles in health services. In addition to the conceptual framework about the benefits and structure of quality control circles, the importance of circles is emphasized by giving examples of literature on practices in health care. Quality control circles can be used as an effective tool to increase quality, employee performance and job satisfaction. It suggests that it can be a powerful technique for facilitating improved outcomes as it supports patient-centered care and patient safety in healthcare. Novel exact solutions, bifurcation of nonlinear and supernonlinear traveling waves for M-fractional generalized reaction Duffing model and the density dependent M-fractional diffusion reaction equation
In the present work, we study the dynamical behavior of nonlinear traveling waves for the M-fractional generalized reaction Duffing model and density dependent M-fractional diffusion reaction equation. Novel exact solutions in the form of rational, hyperbolic and trigonometric functions are obtained using the new extended direct algebraic method. The obtained solutions are also verified for the aforesaid equations with the help of symbolic soft computations. Furthermore, some produced results are graphically illustrated using 3D surface graphs and 2D line plots, which provide useful information about the dynamical behavior. Moreover, we assurance that all the obtained solutions are accurate, efficient and an excellent contribution in the literature of solitary wave theory. Bifurcation behavior of some nonlinear traveling waves of the proposed equations is also studied with the help of bifurcation theory of planar dynamical systems through numerical simulation. It is observed that proposed equations supports nonlinear solitary waves, periodic waves and most important supernonlinear periodic waves
