Material and Method: Maxillary sinus pneumatization can be listed as frontal process pneumatization (FPP), zygomatic process pneumatization (ZPP), nasal cavity pneumatizations (NCP), palatal process pneumatizations (PPP), orbital process pneumatization (OPP), palatal pneumatization to sphenomaxillary plate (SPP), pneumatization caused by tooth loss, and alveolar bone pneumatization (ABP). Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology Volumetric Tomography images of patients entering the image region of the maxillary sinus were examined between December 2015 and December 2017 in this study. The images were examined with the software called OnDemand 3D™ (Cybermed, California, USA). CBCT device is Scanora 3Dx brand CBCT (Scanora® 3Dx, Soredex, Tuusula, Finland). It was subjected to appropriate statistical analysis retrospectively using CBCT images. Results: Our study has revealed that some pathologies such as mucosal thickening, polypoidal mucosal thickening, partial opacification, total opacification, and effusion are due to maxillary sinus pneumatization. Statistically significant differences were found between ABP, PPP, and ZPP with mucosal thickenings (p<0.05). Mucosal thickening is the most common which is seen with alveolar bone pneumatization statistically (36.5% on the right, 38% on the left). In addition, a significant correlation was found between ABP and total opacification on the left side (p=0.001). Conclusion: CBCT is the most appropriate imaging method for imaging the pneumatization of the maxillary sinus. Knowing maxillary sinus pneumatizations is of great importance in terms of dentistry in order to prevent complications that may occur during and after surgical operations. Our study will make an important contribution to the dentistry literature in order to define rare maxillary sinus pneumatizations and to explain the relationship of these pneumatizations with patholog

Investigation of optical soliton solutions of higher-order nonlinear Schrödinger equation having Kudryashov nonlinear refractive index

    No full text
Abstract Purpose: In this paper, optical solitons of higher-order nonlinear Schrödinger equation with Kudryashov's sextic power-law of nonlinear refractive index are investigated via the direct mapping method. The considered model identifies the optical soliton pulse propagation in the optical fibers. Deriving the optical solutions of investigated model such as sextic power is critical but difficult work. The primary aim of this paper is to graphically examine the impact of power-law nonlinearity (pLawNL) and chromatic dispersion (CD) parameters clarifying self-phase modulation (SPM) in the equation on soliton behavior as well as obtaining optical soliton solutions. Methodology: To according to the used technique, we first used the complex wave transform to generate the nonlinear ordinary differential equation (NLODE) form of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE) with Kudryashov's sextic power-law the nonlinear refractive index (SPLawNRI). Then, we were able to produce a system of linear equations in polynomial form by using the approach. Different solution sets including the values of the parameters of the studied equation and the suggested approach were produced by solving the linear system of equations. Findings: We acquired the optical soliton solutions of the main equation after inserting the sets and wave transformation into the solution functions suggested by the approach. The constraint conditions for the related solutions were suggested. We proved that the gained solutions satisfied the NLSE with Kudryashov's SPLawNRI under the suggested constraint conditions. Originality: We present contour, 3D and 2D depictions in various simulations in figures to comment the obtained solution functions. Besides, we investigate the effects of the power-law nonlinearity parameter that expresses SPM in the main equation and the parameter that are the group velocity dispersion (GVD) or chromatic dispersion (CD) on soliton behavior. The results suggest that the utilized approach is efficient, reliable, and powerful to be readily applied to various NLSEs with higher-order or higher pLawNLs that characterize real-life problems

Abstract In this paper, we provide the Noether symmetries with gauge fields of the area-minimizing hypersurface Lagrangian according to some vacuum classes of pp-waves. Also we show that they are elements of the Killing algebra of vacuum classes of pp-waves. Finally, we construct the conserved fields for the area-minimizing Lagrangian according to Noether’s theorem

Abstract Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) is an immune-mediated inflammatory disease of the central nervous system (CNS) and is commonly seen in children. It has seasonal peaks in winter and spring, consistent with its infectious etiologies, and it rarely occurs as a reaction to vaccination. ADEM is less common in adults and progresses with a more severe clinical course. Cases diagnosed with ADEM by CNS demyelination after streptococcal meningitis have rarely been reported in adult patients. In this report, we present a rare case of a 31-year-old female diagnosed with ADEM following pneumococcal meningitis treatment and treated successfully with low-dose methylprednisolone.Öz Akut dissemine ensefalomiyelit (ADEM), merkezi sinir sistemini etkileyen immün sistem ilişkili enflamatuvar bir hastalık olup sıklıkla çocuklarda görülür.

Abstract Aim In this study, the importance of knowing the pathological conditions and symptoms that may lead to TMJ muscle joint pain dysfunction syndrome in terms of diagnosis and treatment was emphasized in the light of the literature. Material and method A total of 70 patients, 52 women and 18 men, aged between 19 and 37, were included in the study. Results Etiological causes and predisposing factors that may lead to TMJ muscle-pain dysfunction syndrome were investigated by considering the classifications in the literature. Malocclusion was detected in 41 (58.5%) of 70 patients, while 22 patients (31.4%) received psychological treatment. Conclusion In conclusion, it is emphasized that the variations in clinical images and the pathogenesis should be taken into account in determining the treatment and plan of TMJ muscle pain dysfunction syndrome. In addition, due to the lack of specific standardized measurement techniques for this syndrome, it is difficult to easily understand the outcome of each cause alone. Since diagnosis constitutes a very important step in the treatment of diseases, the importance of detailed anamnesis, clinical and radiological examination is emphasized in our stud

Optical solitons of the perturbed nonlinear Schr?dinger equation using Lie symmetry method

    No full text
Abstract This paper presents an analytical treatment of the perturbed nonlinear Schrödinger equation (P-NLSE) using the Lie symmetry method. The NLSE is a fundamental equation in nonlinear optics and describes the propagation of optical pulses in a nonlinear medium. In the presence of perturbations, the solution to the NLSE becomes more complicated and requires more sophisticated mathematical techniques to analyze. The Lie symmetry method is a powerful tool for finding exact solutions to nonlinear differential equations and has been applied successfully to a wide range of problems in physics and engineering. In this paper, we use the Lie symmetry method to obtain exact analytical solutions for the P-NLSE and study their properties. Our results show that the perturbations can have a significant effect on the behavior of the optical pulses, leading to phenomena such as soliton fission and dispersive shock waves. The Lie symmetry method is used to derive three generators for the Lie algebra, and two reductions are examined through combinations of vector generators. The Improved generalized Riccati equation and Nucci reduction method are then employed to obtain exact solutions, including bright soliton, multiple singular soliton, and exponential solutions
