    Abstract Ultrasonography (US) or diagnostic sonography is a radiographic technique that uses sound waves with frequencies higher than 20 kHz to demonstrate soft tissues such as muscles, internal organs, joints, and tendons. The US has various applications in dentistry such as cervical lymph node examination, salivary gland examination, periodontal examination, maxillofacial fracture examination, temporomandibular joint examination, and orofacial swelling examination. One of the most important advantages of the US is it does not produce any ionizing radiation. Since the US does not produce any ionizing radiation, it is a favorable technique especially for the patients who are susceptible to ionizing radiation such as pregnant patients and pediatric patients.     Impact of proximal cap ambiguity on the procedural techniques and outcomes of chronic total occlusion percutaneous coronary intervention: Insights from the PROGRESS‐CTO Registry

    Background: Proximal cap ambiguity is a key parameter in the global chronic total occlusion (CTO) percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) crossing algorithm. Methods: We examined the baseline characteristics and procedural outcomes of 9718 CTO PCIs performed in 9498 patients at 41 US and non-US centers between 2012 and 2022. Results: Proximal cap ambiguity was present in 35% of CTO lesions. Patients whose lesions had proximal cap ambiguity were more likely to have had prior coronary artery bypass graft surgery (37% vs. 24%; p < 0.001). Lesions with proximal cap ambiguity were more complex with higher J-CTO score (3.1 ± 1.0 vs. 2.0 ± 1.2; p < 0.001) and lower technical (79% vs. 90%; p < 0.001) and procedural (77% vs. 89%; p < 0.001) success rates compared with nonambiguous CTO lesions. The incidence of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) was higher in cases with proximal cap ambiguity (2.5% vs. 1.7%; p < 0.001). The retrograde approach was more commonly used among cases with ambiguous proximal cap (50% vs. 21%; p < 0.001) and was more likely to be the final successful crossing strategy (29% vs. 13%; p < 0.001). The antegrade dissection and re-entry (ADR) "move-the-cap" techniques were also more common among cases with proximal cap ambiguity. Conclusions: Proximal cap ambiguity in CTO lesions is associated with higher utilization of the retrograde approach and ADR, lower technical and procedural success rates, and higher incidence of in-hospital MACE

    Classical and non-classical Lie symmetry analysis, conservation laws and exact solutions of the time-fractional Chen–Lee–Liu equation

    Abstract The current work deals with the classical and non-classical Lie group analysis for the fractional type system of nonlinear Chen–Lee–Liu (CLL) equations. The invariance surface condition is imposed to this system of fractional differential equations to find non-classical generators. Non-classical and classical Lie symmetry analysis are used to similarity reductions of this system. Corresponding exact solutions are obtained for the extracted generators in both classical and non-classical senses. Convergence of the obtained solutions when fractional order tends to the integer one, is graphically checked.     Abstract The current paper implements three elegant approaches to recover a complete spectrum of optical solitons to the Radhakrishnan-Kundu-Lakshmanan equation with dual-power law of nonlinear refractive index. The conservation laws are also recovered by the usage of multipliers approach. The parameter constraints for the existence of such solitons are also enumerated.     (3+1)-dimensional Sasa–Satsuma equation under the effect of group velocity dispersion, self-frequency shift and self-steepening

    Abstract Purpose: The aim of this study is to examine the effects of the coefficients of group velocity dispersion, self-frequency shift and self-steepening terms on the optical solitons of the (3+1)-dimensional Sasa–Satsuma equation which is important for modeling many physical events and it has recently been introduced to the literature. Methodology: To get desired results we have used the solution approach as following. The first step is defining the wave transform and applying it to the nonlinear partial differential equation (NLPDE). Then we have obtained the ordinary differential equation (ODE). Afterwards it is introduced and applied the new Kudryashov method (nKM) and unified Riccati equation expansion method (UREEM) to obtain the algebraic equation system. Finally, by determining the parameters from the solution of algebraic system we have substituted them in the solution function. Findings: By using the solution function we have obtained interesting soliton graphics under different parameter values. In addition to the basic solitons of the (3+1)-dimensional Sasa–Satsuma equation (SSE), V-shaped and periodic singular type solitons have also been obtained.     Trichorhinophalangeal syndrome type 1 (Giedion syndrome): A case report with literature review

    Abstract : Introduction and objectives: Trichorhinophalangeal syndrome (TRPS) is a rare multisystem disorder characterized by abnormalities in the hair (tricho), nose (rhino), and digits (phalangeal). A variety of nonspecific intraoral findings have been reported in the literature, including hypodontia, delayed tooth eruption, malocclusion, a high-arched palate, mandibular retrognathia, midface hypoplasia, and multi-ple impacted teeth. In addition, supernumerary teeth have been detected in several persons with TRPS, especially type 1. This report describes the clinical manifestations and dental management of a TRPS 1 patient with multiple impacted supernumerary and permanent teeth. Patient: A 15-year-old female patient visited our clinic with a known medical history of TRPS 1 with laceration of the tongue caused by teeth eruption in the palate. Results: Radiographic images showed a total of 45 teeth: two deciduous, 32 permanent, and 11 supernu-merary teeth. Six permanent teeth and 11 supernumerary teeth in the posterior quadrants were impacted. Four impacted third molars, supernumerary teeth, retained deciduous teeth, and impacted maxillary premolars were removed under general anaesthesia. Discussion and conclusions: This case suggests that all patients with TRPS should undergo full clinical and radiographic oral examination and should be informed about the disease and the importance of dental counselling

    Factors influencing cardiovascular patients' knowledge of CVD risk factors

    Abstract Background: Considering the morbidity, mortality, and financial burden of cardiovascular diseases(CVDs), investigating measures to prevent these disorders is highly prioritized. In this regard, improving the patients' knowledge level is essential. This study aimed to determine influencing factors on knowledge level regarding cardiovascular risk factors. Methods: This research is a descriptive-analytic study in which 351 hospitalized patients were selected as participants. The study was conducted in the cardiovascular services of a state hospital in Northern Nicosia, Cyprus, between 2019 and 2020. Data were gathered using a questionnaire through face-to-face interviews. The questionnaire was composed of two sections: the Cardiovascular Diseases Risk Factors Knowledge Level (CARRIF-KL) and a researchers-designed tool for demographic and influencing factors. Data were analyzed by IBM SPSS Statistics 25. The Mann-Whitney U, Pearson chi-square, Spearman correlation, Kruskal Wallis, and Linear Regression were used for data analysis. Results: The highest proportion of participants were aged 55-69 years ( N = 154; 44%), male ( N = 245; 70%), and married ( N = 320; 91%). The most common reported chronic conditions were hypertension ( N = 66; 44%) followed by obesity ( N = 48; 32%). Also, 63.53% ( N = 222) of the participants reported smoking, and 71% ( N = 249) reported alcohol consumption. The mean Body Mass Index (BMI) of the participants was calculated as 30.37 (5.92) for women and 31.30 (4.75) for men. There was a statistically significant difference in the quantity of CARRIF-KL between age groups, educational level, job, personality type, housing, number of daily meals, and being on a diet. The Linear Regression confirmed two predictors for CARRIF-KL, including education level and personality trait. Conclusion: Despite the common belief that people of the Mediterranean region practice a healthy lifestyle, results showed that obesity, smoking, sedentary life, and alcohol consumption are significant problems in Northern Cyprus. Considering the influencing factors and the predictors of the CARRIF-KL, we may recommend focusing on education at younger ages, increasing awareness about the importance of CVD risk factors, and keeping a normal body weight by reducing the number of daily meals and diet. & COPY; 2023 Society for Vascular Nursing, Inc.     Structural characterization and biological evaluation of uracil-appended benzylic amines as acetylcholinesterase and carbonic anhydrase I and II inhibitors

    Abstract A series of novel uracil-appended benzylic amines were synthesized through reductive amination with moderate to good yields (30–84% yields). In situ prepared 5-(arylidene)-6-aminouracils with the condensation reaction between 5,6-diamino-1,3-dimethyluracil and substituted salicylaldehydes were reduced by excess sodium borohydride. All of the compounds were characterized using FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The inhibition abilities of novel uracil-appended benzylic amines (1–9) were evaluated against acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and human carbonic anhydrase I and II (hCA I and II) isoenzymes that are linked to some global disorders such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), epilepsy, diabetes and glaucoma. The compounds exhibited inhibition profiles with Ki values ranging from 2.28±0.41 nM to 5.25±0.75 nM for AChE, 36.10±5.22–110.31±54.81 nM for hCA I and 16.33±4.91–72.03±28.86 for hCA II. Tacrine was used as a reference inhibitor for AChE and exhibited a Ki value of 2.59±0.92 nM against the AChE enzyme. On the other hand, Acetazolamide was used as a standard inhibitor towards hCA I and hCA II isoforms with Ki values of 31.38±8.56 nM and 18.72±1.67 nM, respectively. The results of enzyme inhibition associated with some global metabolic diseases indicate that novel uracil-appended benzylic amines may have the potential to develop new drugs to treat some common diseases such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), epilepsy and glaucoma. Molecular docking simulations were conducted to explain the binding interactions of compounds with AChE, hCA I and hCA II. Pharmacokinetic profiles were predicted to be within the acceptable ranges
