The effect of coconut oil added to bath water on skin moisture in TERM neonates in the intensive care
Abstrtact : Skin moisture is the amount of fluid in the skin at the cellular level and is one of the most basic indicators of healthy skin. This study was conducted in order to evaluate the effect of coconut oil added to the first bath water on skin moisture and skin condition in term newborns hospitalized in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of a training and research hospital between April and September 2022, was carried out as randomized controlled experimental 30 experiments and 30 controls. With water added to the experimental group at a rate of 0.5% coconut oil; The control group was given a bath at 24 - 48 hours postnatally with plain water. Before and after the bath, skin moisture was measured on the forehead, forearm, upper leg and abdomen at the 6th, 12th and 24th hours of all newborns. Skin conditions were evaluated with the Neonatal Skin Condition Rating Scale at the 24th hour before and after the bath. The data obtained in the study were analyzed using the SPSS for Windows 22.0 program, and the differences between the ratios of categorical variables in independent groups were analyzed with Chi-Square and Fisher Exact tests. There was no difference between the groups in terms of gender, delivery route, gestational week, diagnosis, birth weight, postnatal bath time and pre-bath scores. It was observed that the scale scores of the study group decreased significantly compared to the control group in the 24th hour measurements after the bath (p<0.05). Upper leg, forehead and forearm area moisture measurement values, increased in the experimental group, but the increase was not significant, it was determined that the moisture measurement values of the abdominal region increased statistically significantly in the experimental group. As a result, the addition of coconut oil to the bath water provides an increase in moisture in the skin and positively affects the skin condition of the newborn. It is recommended to carry out studies in different centers related to the subject and with a larger number of newborns

Deep learning based malware detection for android systems: A Comparative Analysis
Abstract
Nowadays, cyber attackers focus on Android, which is the most popular open-source operating system, as main target by applying some malicious software (malware) to access users' private information, control the device, or harm end-users. To detect Android malware, security experts have offered some learning-based models. In this study, we developed an Android malware detection system that uses different machine\deep learning models by performing both dynamic analyses, in which suspected malware is executed in a safe environment for observing its behaviours, and static analysis, which examines a malware file without any execution on the Android device. The benefits and weaknesses of these models and analyses are described in detail in this comparative study, and directions for future studies are drawn. Experimental results showed that the proposed models gave better results than those in the literature, with 0.988 accuracy for LSTM on static analysis and 0.953 accuracy for CNN-LSTM on dynamic analysis
Arylcoumarin and novel biscoumarin derivatives as potent inhibitors of human glutathione S-transferase
ABSTRACT
A series of arylcoumarin derivatives and two novel biscoumarin derivatives were investigated for their
human recombinant glutathione S-transferase P1-1 (GSTP1-1) enzyme inhibitory activities for the first
time. 4-(3,4-Dihydroxyphenyl)-6,7-dihydroxycoumarin (compound 24) was observed to be the most
active coumarin derivative (IC50: 0.14 mM). The inhibition was found to be time-dependent and irreversible. Hypothetical binding modes of the ten most active compounds were calculated by molecular
docking. Ligand efficiency indices (LEI) were estimated to better understand the binding performance
of the coumarin derivatives. Extensive structure-activity relationship studies showed that hydroxy
substitution on both the coumarin and the aryl ring enhanced the biological activity and the position
of hydroxy group on the coumarin ring is critical for the binding pose and the activity. Top three
ligands were subjected to molecular dynamics simulations and MM/PBSA for further investigation.
Binding mode of compound 24 suggested that its high inhibitory activity might be attributed to its
position between Tyr7 and the cofactor, glutathione (GS-DNB). Exhibiting favorable druglikeness
profiles and pharmacokinetics based on ADME studies, compound 5 and 24 can be considered as
potential drug leads in future studies for further development
Optical solitons of (2+1)-dimensional Biswas-Milovic equation having kerr law nonlinearity
Abstract: This work purposes to concede the effects of kerr law nonlinearity on the soliton behavior of the (2+1)- dimensional Biswas-Milovic equation with the Sardar Subequation method. Firstly, the nonlinear ordinary differential form (NODE) of the (2+1)-dimensional Biswas-Milovic equation has been obtained with the aid of the complex wave transformation. After that, Sardar Subequation method algorithms has been given and applied to the obtained NODE. In the next step, a polynomial expression has been achieved and converted to linear algebraic equation system. By solving the system and selecting the suitable solution set, the optical soliton solution of the investigated equation has been derived. Finally, graphical representations, gained results and necessary comments are presente
Comparison of video head ımpulse test results of pediatric patients with dizziness with healthy volunteers
Abstract
Objective: The Video Head Impulse Test (V-HIT) is a non-invasive diagnostic test that evaluates the functions of the semicircular canals separately. This test records eye movements in response to head movements, and the vestibulo-ocular reflex gain (VOR-G) is calculated. V-HIT is frequently used in diagnosing adult patients and has been increasingly used in children in recent years. Indeed, V-HIT measurements may be useful in the diagnosis, especially in pediatric patients where vestibular pathologies are difficult to evaluate. In this study, V-HIT findings of pediatric patients with dizziness were examined, and the results were compared with healthy volunteers. Methods: Thirteen pediatric patients who applied to our clinic with dizziness and nine healthy children were included in the study. The necessary evaluations and radiological imaging were performed, and children diagnosed with any pathology were excluded. Each patient underwent GN Otometrics ICS Impulse V-HIT examination, and the results were recorded. The Video Head Impulse Test (v-HIT) results of children with vertigo were compared with those of healthy volunteers and analyzed. Results: The mean age of the patients included in the study was 10.5±3.5 years (range: 5-16). Five of these children were boys, and 8 were girls. In the control group, there were five girls and four boys, and their mean age was 9.3±3.9 years (range: 5-16). None of the children had any additional disease. When the groups were compared, the left anterior canal and left lateral canal VOR-Gs were significantly different between the patients and healthy volunteers (p=0.027 and p=0.007, respectively). No statistically significant difference was observed between the groups in terms of the right anterior canal, right lateral canal, left posterior canal, and right posterior canal VOR-G measurements (p=0.928, p=0.738, p=0.588, and p=0.780,). Conclusion: V-HIT, a non-invasive method for evaluating the etiology of vertigo in children, can be easily applied even in very young children. The use of glasses suitable for children will facilitate the procedure
Investigating the activity of indole-2-on derivative src kinase inhibitors against chronic myeloid leukemia cells
Background: Src family tyrosine kinases play a potential role in Bcr-Abl-induced leukemogenesis. Src kinase inhibitors are reported as selective inhibitors of chronic myeloid leukemia. Objective: Since Src kinase inhibitors have an inhibitive effect on chronic myeloid leukemia, indole derivatives (C-1, C-2, C-3) previously found as potent inhibitors of Src kinase were tested against chronic myeloid leukemia in this study. Methods: Cell viability of K562 and R/K562 cells, antiproliferative and antioxidant effects, and inhibition profiles of Bcr-Abl kinase of indole derivatives were determined compared to dasatinib and imatinib. Results: The results showed that compounds affected cell proliferation and decreased the levels of Bcr/Abl. These results confirmed that the antileukemic activity of compounds was related to Bcr/Abl expression. Docking studies also presented that compounds are inhibitors of both Src and Abl kinases. Calculation of drug-like properties showed that compounds could be potential drug candidates. Conclusion: Among indole-2-on derivatives, previously identified as Src kinase inhibitors, C-2 has been discovered to be a strong anticancer drug that is active against susceptible and resistant K562 cell lines and induces apoptosis
Nose-to-brain delivery of peptides and proteins
Abstract
The fact that BBB is an important obstacle in drug delivery to the brain has revealed the need o try alternative drug administration routes. One of these alternative ways, also called non-invasive administrations, is intranasal drug administration. Due to the high molecular weight of proteins/peptides, their bioavailability cannot be high after administration with conventional dosage forms. In addition, the hydrophilic part in their structures makes it difficult for them to pass through the BBB and cannot accumulate in the brain in sufficient quantities. For this reason, intranasal administration stands out as an important alternative for protein/peptides. However, the properties that limit the bioavailability of protein/peptides prevent their nasal absorption from being adequate.
Carrier systems are used to modify drugs to gain different structural properties. Thus, drugs can be easily delivered to the desired target region, and their bioavailability can be increased. Nanocarriers also offer great advantages for targeting proteins and peptides. Proteins/peptides produced in nanoscales and given a certain level of lipophilic character can easily pass through the BBB and reach the brain after intranasal administration.
In this chapter, rate-limiting steps in nose-to-brain targeting of proteins/peptides, possible pathways through which transmission occurs, points to be considered while developing nanocarriers, and examples of working with some peptides, which are frequently the subject of studies, are examined. In addition, the potential for commercialization and future perspective of nanocarriers developed for protein/peptides are discussed
Jaulent-Miodek evolution equation: Analytical methods and various solutions
Abstract
( ) In this study, the m + 1-expansion technique and the extended rational sine-cosine approach are applied to G ' investigate the (2+1)-dimensional integrodifferential equation, namely the Jaulent-Miodek evolution equation (JMEE). Via these powerful approaches, some wave solutions to the JMEE evolution equation are successfully constructed. Using suitable values of the parameters, we plot the 2-and 3-dimensional graphs of the reported solutions. The two utilized approaches are powerful and efficient mathematical tools that secure important wave solutions. The reported solutions in this study may be used in explaining the physical features of various nonlinear physical models
Abstract Objective: This study’s main goal was to evaluate the possible impact of different-sized double-J (DJ) stents on the pain and stone-free status following flexible ureteroscopic laser disintegration (fURS) of renal stones. Material and Methods: A total of 104 patients who underwent fURS for kidney stones were included in our study. In 51 patients, a 4.7 Fr DJ stent was used after stone fragmentation, while in the remaining 53 cases, a 6 Fr stent was chosen. Between the two groups, general pain symptoms were evaluated using a visual pain scale at the end of the first postoperative week. The stone-free status was evaluated using non-contrast computed tomography (NCCT) after three months following surgery. Success was determined by either the complete clearance of the stones or the presence of small stone fragments (<3 mm).
Results: Using a visual pain scale, we compared the two groups’ overall reports of pain (4.02±1.10 vs 4.81±1.53, p=0.006). When we looked at the stone-free rates, the two groups were not significantly different in this regard (84.3% vs 74.5%, p=0.264). We found no statistically significant difference between the two groups in terms of postoperative fever, stent migration, or visits to the emergency room. Conclusion: In spite of the fact that larger diameter stents resulted in more pain complaints for patients, they did not alter the long-term stone-free rates appreciably, as evidenced by our findings. In order to reduce the occurrence of unpleasant symptoms, a 4.7 Fr double-j stent may be preferable over a 6 Fr stent following flexible ureteroscopic surgery
