Civic of Culture: Media, Kaum Muda, dan Mengenali Ke-Istimewaan Yogyakarta
Ideally local media has special spaces to present special characters of culture in a particular area. The objectives are to improve the pride and sense of belonging as well as cohesive correlation of the society especially the young generation. The study is aimed to investigate an analysis “How is the role of local media in Yogyakarta, both local TV Jogja TV and mass media Kedaulatan Rakyat in presenting special characters of Yogyakarta culture in shaping Civic culture?” so young generation are able to admit those characters. The object research of local media will be chosen qualitatively during July-August 2014 by looking at the kinds of local culture presented in the medias and analyzing the roles of local media. Choosing both medias was based on the biggest and the most influential local medias in Yogyakarta. The study uses qualitative analysis to investigate local wisdom in the medias, and then the researcher would have focus groups discussion (FGD) to young generations who were born, grown, and living in Yogyakarta at least 20 years. The result of the research is going to give an image of thinking pattern as well as sense of belonging from young generation to see special characters of Yogyakarta.. Reception Audiens Ibu Rumah Tangga Muda Terhadap Presenter Effeminate dalam Program-program Musik Televisi
It is true that effeminacy or transgender still become a kind of social deviation. However, it seems that their existence is increasingly accepted by the society. This is indicated by the number of media which use effeminate figures in entertainment industry and television. This study is a reception analysis of young housewifes towards effeminate presenters on Music Television’s programs. The purpose of this study is to understand young housewifes acceptance towards effeminate presenters on Music Television’s programs which recently have become one of the most popular programs in several television stations. This study also attempts to reveal the factors that affect their acceptance towards effeminate presenters. The theoretical framework used in this study is the audience analysis and the factors that influence the acceptance. On the other hand, the method used in this research is the fracture method and faction method. This study reveals that the position of the housewives as the figures who are responsible for all domestic tasks has become one of the factors that have strong influence in taking a position of decoding negotiation. There are three correlated aspects which intensely affect the position of decoding information which are economic factors, social relation, and media related to entertainment. KRISIS: KRISTEN TERHADAP ISU ISIS
Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) declared themselves as an Islamic community. Rebel movement of ISIS is based on the goals of what is right and what is wrong of what ISIS believe. They have been done give bad impact to the way people see Islam itself. It is getting worse by the intense ISIS news covered by mass media. Christians, known as the most people who get the most disadvantage caused by ISIS. This is why it is interesting to know deeper of what the Christians in another place feel of this issue. The research is to see how the Christians get the conclusion of how mass media covering the ISIS news.The research is going to be a descriptive with an interactive qualitative analyzing research, to discuss in a forum as a place for nine Christians as member of Gereja Baptis Indonesia Saman, district of Sewon, Bantul Region, Yogyakarta. IMPLEMENTASI PEMBANGUNAN INFRASRUKTUR DAN TEKNOLOGI KOMUNIKASI UNTUK PENGEMBANGAN MASYARAKAT
Abstrak- Pembentukan sumber daya manusia suatu negara bukan hanya tanggung jawab utama pemerintah saja. Melainkan setiap komponen yang ada dalam suatu negara baik bersifat kelompok maupun organisasi. Komponen tersebut memiliki fungsi dalam mewujudkan kesejahteraan sosial dan pengembangan kualitas hidup masyarakat. Disisi lain dunia bisnis juga memiliki peran dalam menciptakan dan mendorong pertumbuhan ekonomi yang sehat dan mendukung. Bisnis yang kondusif pada perkembangannya saat ini tidak lagi hanya memikirkan dan memperhatikan pada aspek finansial semata, melainkan juga pada aspek sosial dan aspek lingkungan. Terwujudnya sinergis diantara ketiganya baik aspek keuangan, sosial dan juga lingkungan merupakan kunci dari konsep pembangunan yang berkelanjutan. Oleh karena itu implementasi pembangunan infrastruktur dan teknologi komunikasi masa ini begitu penting terutama untuk komunitas para nelayan. Ini menunjukkan bahwa saat ini para nelayan diharapkan tidak lagi menggunakan cara-cara konvensional dalam menangkap ikan di laut. Melainkan memanfaatkan infrastruktur dan teknologi komunikasi akan lebih memudahkan para nelayan untuk menangkap ikan dan bisa jadi ikan yang ditangkap dengan memanfaatkan teknologi komunikasi hasilnya akan lebih banyak. Pengenalan dan edukasi teknologi komunikasi saat ini tidak hanya dilakukan kepada orang dewasa saja. Namun pengenalannya sudah dilakukan sejak anak-anak. Selain itu juga implementasi pengenalan teknologi komunikasi sudah dilakukan secara terus-menerus dimulai dari pendidikan dasar, lanjutan, menengah, sampai perguruan tinggi. Dengan mengetahui cara penerapan teknologi komunikasi yang baik berarti setiap orang di Indonesia dapat berinteraksi dengan orang lain tanpa mengenal batas ruang dan waktu. Sedangkan untuk paradigma penelitian sendiri peneliti menggunakan interpretive social science dengan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Kata kunci: Pembangunan Infrastruktur, Teknologi Komunikasi dan Pengembangan Masyarakat.

Convergence of political and economic liberalization that swept the ‘new democracies’ countries makes political events as an industry. Electoral democracy which makes direct elections as the way has led democracy subject to the codes of consumerism. Political advertising, as a form of political communication was packaged as commodities that rely on images. Political rite and democracy agenda aligned uniformly refer to American style (Americanized) that uses imagery. In a way, democracy has lost its orientation towards the ideal of creating equality and freedom. Pemaknaan Agama sebagai Hasil Interaksi Antar Anggota Komunitas Punk Muslim di Indonesia
The meaning of religion for someone can be influenced by interactions with other people. It could be seen from the result of the research towards the members of Punk-Moslems community. When they stay in punk community where most members see religion as something which is unimportant and communicate this matter to the other members, they also see religion in the same way as the other members do. On the other hand, when they stay with Punk-Moslems community that sees religion as the most important thing in life and communicate this matter to the other members, they can aslo change their view towards religion. The Impact of Renaming STT Telkom being Telkom University to Image of Telkom University
Telkom University is one of university in Bandung, was established on August 14, 2013. Telkom University was transformed of STT Telkom which standing on 1990. Based on observation which held by researcher, many people still consider that Telkom University still same with STT Telkom. But actually the case is Telkom University have different identity with STT Telkom. That’s problem surely will be influence to image of Telkom University. This research have purpose to know how the relation name changes of STT Telkom being Telkom University about image of Telkom University to Bandung society. The theories used in this research are the public relation theory as a grand theory, rebranding theory as a middle theory, and then renaming theory and corporate image theory as an applied theory. This study is using the assosiatif methods, that is to find relation about independent variable and dependent variable. Using with survey methods to the 200 Bandung society as the respondents were selected using multistage of cluster sampling techniques. To determine the relation both of this variable in this research, used deskriptive techniques, pearson correlation techniques and also regression technique. The result showed that there are positive relation and significant between renaming of STT Telkom being Telkom University to image of Telkom University in Bandung Society
Strategi Jaringan Radio Komunitas Indonesia (JRKI) dalam Menyelamatkan Eksistensi Radio Komunitas
oai:journal.umy.ac.id:article/187Community radio movement could be considered as media of resistance / counter hegemony. However, in fact, some community radios are far from expectations. Two community radio stations in Yogyakarta, which are Panaganti Radio in Terban and Angkringan Radio in Timbulhardjo, are not able to become media of resistance (Eddyono, 2011). Radio fails because government rules are too restrictive towards community radio. As a result, community radio cannot solve its own internal problems in order to survive for a long period. Moreover, this research could not get an answer about the role of Jaringan Radio Komunitas Indonesia (Indonesian Community Radio Network) in making a series of strategies to save the existence of community radio under its network, including Angkringan Radio and Panaganti Radio. This study used qualitative research and adopted Gramsci’s perspective on social movements and organic intellectual to understand the strategies which are used by JRKI to save the existence of community radio. As a result, JRKI strategies still have many weaknesses. JRKI is running out of energy in saving the existence of community radio. The publishing of sports daily newspaper in Indonesia begins to show significant progress. In the past two years, two sports daily newspapers namely Harian Bola and SuperBall appeared. Both these daily newspapers followed the sports daily newspaper TopSkor who was published earlier. Sports daily newspapers in Indonesia currently exist in the middle of the condition when the number of newspapers readers is decreasing. However, sport daily newspapers can also have a good prospect if it is managed properly. This paper provides a preliminary review of the three sports daily newspapers in Indonesia namely TopSkor, Harian Bola, and SuperBall. The focus is on the content, structure, behavior, and performance or S-C-P (structure-conduct-performance). In this review, the author provides recommendations about what should be done by the sports daily newspapers. In the conclusion, the author gives recommendations on further studies which can be done regarding to sports daily newspapers in Indonesia. Ideologi dalam Desain Komunikasi Visual
Ideology will have power if it can be represented and communicated. Ideology is full of interest including ideology which is owned by media. This ideology makes the media not neutral. This study was conducted based on the view of James Lull. The object of the study was the pictures of 2009 presidential candidates who became the front cover of Koran Tempo. It was expected to be able to explain how ideology works in the visual communication design (pictures) without using verbal language. By using semiotic analysis, this study was able to reveal it. To facilitate the research, the object of this study was divided into six units of analysis which consists of theme object, verbal text, visualization, composition, readers’ point of view (viewers) and modalities. Based on the research result, it could be concluded that the transformation process in ideology of interest from both internal and external sides of Koran Tempo in reporting the 2009 presidential candidates also occurred in the form of visual communication.
