Full text linkRadical ideology is a latent threat that may arise any time. The spread of global radical ideology is aimed to the students who are members of Islamic student organizations. The characteristics of students which are open, easy to accept new things, critical, and having high spirit are used by many terrorist organizations to spread their radical ideology. The students who have already embedded radical ideology would be easy to commit terrorism actions such as murdering, kidnapping, robbing, and bombing. This research aims to determine the role of effective parentschildren communication, peer group, and selfconcept in neutralizing radical ideology which is followed by the students. In the short term, this research is expected to produce a model in handling radical ideology based on effective parents-children communication, the role of peer group, and self-concept. In the long run, this model is expected to prevent and neutralize radical ideology which is followed by the young generation so that they could be the successor of national struggle. Menyingkap Social Nature Industri Musik Digital dalam Negeri
Full text linkThe object of this paper is the social condition of domestic digital music. The background of this paper is based on the global data that thirty billion songs are downloaded illegally in the period of 2004-2009, with a loss of $17-40 billion. Illegal music downloading is also occurred in Indonesia. Based on the survey of non-governmental organization, Heal Our Music, it was found that there are 7.920.944 illegal downloads of digital music in Indonesia each day. That number means every second there are 92 illegal downloads. Thus, the author mapped three points of the discussion which are the reality of domestic piracy, supporting the copyright of music creative industry, and literacy for music lovers. The conclusion of this paper is that the copyright laws are still inadequate. The government have to provide technical systems to download music legally and cheaply for music lovers. Full text linkThis study is motivated by some affairs; (1) social media has changed human communication process (2) social media just become independent factor that affects every human behavior (3) social media just has positive and negative consequences associated with the use and impact.This study was carried out in the span of ten months with the following problem; How do student activists’ think about social media as a catharsis? The urgency importance of this study are; (1) The study on the use of social media that can be used as scientific references for academic students related to academic tasks, (2) development of science-based modern technology, (3) This study could explore the changing of social media-based communication processes. The study result concludes that; (1) social media has functioned as people alternative channeling, (2) social media has given rise to the new movement of people, beside physically movement on the road, (3) social media has become student’s way for freedom expression more freely without hindrance. Full text linkMulticulturalism is one of the problems in modern society. Multiculturalism is not pragmatic political doctrine, but it is wisdom in managing cultural differences among people. Indonesia is an archipelago which consists of thousands of islands and hundreds of cultures. There are many crucial conflicts caused by cultural issues, such as ethnicity, religion, race, and other cross cultural issues. In this circumstance, people should be aware and accommodating to accept multicultural reality in a plural society. Television as modern mass media is not only expected to be informative and entertaining media, but also educational media. Through TV broadcast, television has a great social responsibility to explore multiculturalism campaign. TV itself has a variety of programs. Situation comedy is one of the comedy genres which are aired on the television which provides enjoyable entertainment. With humor, strong characters, settings and its smooth implicit message, situation comedy becomes a favorite entertainment program. Unfortunately, this show is not safe enough to be watched. Sometimes, it demonstrates extreme jokes. These jokes touch cultural issues and they make problems from cultural differences. In situation comedy, they taunt each other with extreme insults. The producer always creates unique selling points by creating a program that presents stereotypes. It is dangerous for multiculturalism education. Berita Kunjungan Diplomatik sebagai Media Event di The Jakarta Post
Full text linkThis study is about content analysis of diplomatic visits news as media event in The Jakarta Post. The approach in this research is quantitative descriptive with content analysis method. Content analysis method is known as a research method which is systematic and objective, and it tends to be more quantitative. The result indicates that mass media is a means of international communication in public diplomacy. Mass media as an instrument of public diplomacy has increased the positive image of Indonesia, supported the national objectives (eg: comprehensive partnership with the US), and supported the common goals for world establishment which is based on freedom, lasting peace, and social justice. However, this effort has not yet been accompanied by comprehensive understanding of mass media function as a medium of public diplomacy in political interaction and international communication, for example, a tendency of certain news that indicates mass media support towards the officials who visis Indonesia not the substance of bilateral relationship (advantages and disadvantages of the cooperation).
