Improving Teacher’s Performance Quality in The Freedom to Learn Program Using Zone-Based Lesson Study by Exchanging Teachers
This study aims to investigate the implementation of the strategy of zone-based lesson study by exchanging teachers in order to improve teacher performance, including (1) designing RPPs in accordance with the Circular Letter (SE) of the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture (Mendikbud) No. 14 of 2019 concerning the Simplification of RPPs (lesson plans); (2) designing teaching materials such as UKBM (Self-Study Activity Unit) and LKPD (Student Worksheet); (3) implementing Freedom to Learn (FTL); and (4) increasing student participation during FTL. Besides, the strategy can also prepare teachers to become zone organizer teachers. Data were collected for two cycles in which each cycle had two meetings. Data were analyzed through reduction, interpretation, inferences, follow-up, and conclusion. The research subjects were the best quality teachers in their subjects: 1 Biology teacher and 1 History teacher from three schools in cycle 1; and 1 Math teacher and 1 Sociology teacher from two schools in cycle 2. The number of schools where treatments were given in cycle 2 was reduced to follow SK (decree) issued at the end of cycle 1, stating that one of the schools is beyond the target school area. Results showed that the strategy of zone-based lesson study by exchanging teachers can facilitate the improvement of teacher’s performance quality, the path for teachers to become zone organizers, and the work production for professional development as a result of collaboration between supervisors, principals, and teacher
Assessing Senior High Student’s Learning Experiences in Mathematics
In this study, the learning experience and its cognitive factors of Mathematics among senior high school students of Visayas State University were investigated using a correlational research approach. A complete enumeration of 222 grade 11 and 12 senior high students in the second semester of school year 2018-2019 were used as the participants of the survey. Using a developed structured questionnaire, a primary data was employed. Results showed that the mathematics attitude of students influence their learning experience and academic performance. Mathematics anxiety has a negative effect on the students learning experience especially for females. However, mathematical resilience locates itself in a positive psychology which addresses mental wellness and makes the students positively perceived that mathematics is interesting even if it is challenging. Also, results revealed that senior high school students are mostly visual learners in mathematics, which implies that students practice visualizing or pictures numbers/equations and other concepts in their mind. Furthermore, it can be gleaned that an academic performance is not just derived from study habits but to their motivation and interest in mathematic

Project Based Learning Based on Laboratory Experiments to Produce Laser Diffraction Experimental Devices on CD and DVD with 2 Measurement Methods
All the CDs and DVDs that we find in the market have a large capacitance. This capacitance states how much storage capacity can be stored on the CD or DVD. Several studies have been conducted to determine or prove the capacitance of CDs and DVDs using laser light diffraction, but the measurement process is carried out conventionally, so the results obtained are less accurate. This research is an experimental study that aims to determine the capacitance of CDs and DVDs through red and green laser diffraction with the help of digital image measurements. To complete this research, the team followed the steps of Project Based Learning (PBL) which consisted of 7 stages, namely Challenging Problems or Questions, Sustained Inquiry, Authenticity, Student Voice and Choice, Reflection, Critique and Revision, and Public Product. By following the PBL stages, the team succeeded in producing an experimental device with good results. The results obtained with digital images are then compared with the results obtained conventionally to determine which measurements produce a more accurate value. Based on the results of the analysis, the conclusion is that measurements with digital images are better than using conventional measurements. From this process also, the team acquired more skills, namely critical thinking, problem solving, communication and collaboration
