    Abstract: The purpose of this correlational and crosssectional research was to describe rearing style of grandfather/grandmother and parent towards children and adolescent in Javanese peasant society. Results found: (1) Based on the Suryomentaram concept, grandfather/grandmother and parent consistent tend to use negative style in controlling children and tend to flexible towards adolescent, (2 Based on the Hauser concept, grandfather/grandmother and parent tend high in constraining style and used enabling towards adolescent, (3) there were relation between Suryomentaram rearing concept and Hauser rearing style concept. Abtrak:Penelitian korelasional dan krosseksional ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan gaya asuh kakek/nenek dan orang tua kepada anak-anak dan remaja dalam masyarakat petani Jawa. Hasilnya menunjukkan: (1) berdasar konsep Suryomentaram, kakek/nenek dan orang tua konsisten cenderung menggunakan gaya negatif untuk mengontrol anak, dan longgar kepada remaja, (2) berdasar konsep Hauser, kakek/nenek dan orang tua cenderung tinggi menggunakan gaya constraining, dan menggunakan gaya enabling kepada remaja, (3) ada hubungan gaya asuh berdasarkan konsep Suryomentaram dan Hauser.

    Abstract: Development of elementary students’ writing skills can be seen from writing style, attitude, cognitive, and moral aspects. The moral aspect can be analyzed by cumulative based moral development model instrument which is expressed by moral judgment physical characteristic, law, status, conventional, objective or motive, and abstract universal concept norms. Capacity of moral development which is expressed in upper class elementary schools students’ composition can be seen in the socionomic level, i.e. norms that can develop sense of tolerance to others. The development of norms of abstract universal concept and development of personal value system are not expressed yet

    Abstract: The purpose of this descriptive quantitative research was to test elementary school teachers competency in teaching social studies education, i.e. planning, implementing, and interpersonal relation. Locations of the research were SD Negeri Bareng I and II Malang City. Subjects of the research were four elementary schools social studies education teachers, two principals, and forty students. The data were collected by participant observation, in depth interview, documents study, audio recording, and photo. The results of the research were (1) competency in planning of teaching was in the middle grade (2) competency in implementing of teaching was in the middle grade (3) competency in interpersonal relation generally was good (4) factors influenced competency of teaching social studies education were teachers’ professionalism skills and creativity.Abstrak: Penelitian deskriptif-kualitatif ini bertujuan untuk menguji kemampuan guru SD dalam pembelajaran IPS, meliputi perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan hubungan antarpribadi. Lokasi di SD Negeri Bareng I dan II Kota Malang. Subyek penelitian diambil empat guru IPS kelas 4 dan 5, dua kepala sekolah, dan 40 siswa di sekolah tersebut. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi partisipan, wawancara mendalam, studi dokumen, perekaman dengan tape recorder, dan fotografi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan (1) kemampuan merancang pembelajaran rata-rata cukup; (2) kemampuan melaksanakan pembelajaran cukup, (3) kemampuan hubungan antarpribadi umumnya baik, dan (4) faktor faktor yang mempengaruhi kemampuan pembelajaran IPS adalah kemampuan profesionalisme dan kreativitas guru

    The purposes of the research study was to examine and identify a problem of the Primary Schools' teachers of Surakarta Residency in developing a model for improving a quality through lesson study training, a conceptual model for improving the Primary School teachers' quality through lesson study training, and model validation for improving the Primary School teachers' quality through lesson study theoretically. The research used an approach of descriptive-qualitative phenomenology by using a social definition. It was included in the class action. The subjects were the Primary School teachers of Surakarta. The informants of this study were the teachers, headmasters, and supervisors. The data gathering employed questionnaires, interview, and observation. The data analysis used the first order understanding and second order understanding with an interactive model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion/ verification. The findings showed that a problem of the Primary School teachers is internal (teachers) and external (students, headmasters, supervisors, curriculum and facilities). The problem ranges from the most difficult (17.28%), the more difficult (30.88%), the difficult (33.99%) to the least difficult/easiest (17.85%).     The purposes of this research were to describe teachers’ perception toward teachers’ functional job promotion, teachers’ experience related to contraints in achieving functional job promotion, teachers’ efforts in solving problems related to contraints in achieving functional job promotion. Population of the research was elementary schools’ teachers at Malang Regent. The subjects were 187 teachers selected by multi stage random sampling. The instruments were a questionnaire and documentation. The collected data was analysed by procentage. The result found that teachers’ perception was positive toward func¬tional job promotion. Generally, teachers’ constraints experience related to contraints in achieving func¬tional job promotion were in an education field and scientific writing field.     Secara umum penelitian ini bertujuan mengefektifkan asesmen alternatif dalam pembelajaran membaca permulaan siswa kelas I SDN Jombatan V Jombang. Secara khusus, tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) mengefektifkan asesmen alternatif pada prabaca; (2) mengefektifkan asesmen alternatif pada saat baca; (3) mengefektifkan asesmen alternatif pada pascabaca.     Abstract: The purpose of this research was to determinethe effectiveness of the learning model of Multi-cycles DEAL to improve decision making skills of the fourth grade students. The design of the study was randomized control group pretest-posttest design. The population of the research was fourth grade students of elementary schools in Surabaya. The sampleswere 554 students from16 elementary schools, which was divided into a control group of 264 students and 290 students of the experimental group. The instrument used in this study was decision-making skills mastery test. The collected data was analysed by descriptive and inferential analysis. Results showed that learning science by using the Multi-siklus DEAL learning models more effective to improve decision making skills of student compared to ordinary learning. Abstrak: penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas model pembelajaran Multi-siklus DEAL untuk meningkatkan keterampilan pengambilan keputusan pada siswa kelas IV SD. Rancangan penelitian menggunakan Randomized Pretest-Postest Control Group Design. Populasi siswa kelas IV SD di Kota Surabaya. Sampel penelitian sebanyak 554 siswa yang tersebar dari 16 SD, terbagi menjadi 264 siswa kelompok kontrol dan 290 siswa kelompok eksperimen. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu tes penguasaan keterampilan pengambilan keputusan. Analisis data secara deskriptif dan inferensial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran IPA dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Multi-siklus DEAL lebih efektif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan pengambilan keputusan siswa dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran yang selama ini dilakukan
