Get PDFThe aims of this research were to identified and described the fear of crime level differentiation among goods transport drivers and private vehicle drivers when they crossed the Trans Sumatra, Lampung Province. This research was also clarified the mechanism of coping (adjustment) to the fear of crime level between goods transport drivers and private vehicle drivers through the journey crossed the Trans Sumatera, Lampung Province. This research used a quantitative approach, meanwhile the type of the research was explanative. The total number of respondents was200 people. Related to the result of different test calculation, there was a significant fear of crime rate differentiation between freight drivers and private vehicle drivers. In this case, the freight drivers have higher average rank for the fear of crime rate compared to the private vehicle drivers

No full textThis study discusses the violation of journalistic ethics on news of sexual violence against women in the “Lampu Hijau” during November 2012 - April 2013. The concept used is the mass media, journalistic ethics, news of sexual violence. This research uses quantitative approach with a content analysis method. However, supporting interviews of related stakeholders are used to support the analysis. “Lampu Hijau” is a newspaper known for its crime reports, especially sex crimes. Ethics are required in presenting this kind of news since a moral guideline for journalists in news production. The indicators of this study are balanced and non-judgmental news, news content, identity of victims of sexual violence, the right to protect resources and the non-prejudice and discrimination news. The results showed that the news of sexual violence against women in “Lampu Hijau” is still violating the Journalistic Ethics

Get PDFThis study discusses structural violence happened to stateless Rohingyan children. The case of Rohingyan child refugees in Wisma YPAP Medan had been researched using structural violence concept and constitutive criminology theory. Research with qualitative method was done to understand the situation of structural violence towards Rohingyan children in Wisma YPAP Medan. Parents, supra-state actor, Indonesian government, and the community also involved in this research to get a comprehensive data. The research shows that statelessness in Rohingyan children is a form of structural violence that creates a gap between potential and real situation of Rohingyan children. This structural violence was done by many agents in the course of their lives, and happen in many forms, as recognized in this research, ethnic cleansing, hate crime, criminalization of migration, and unfulfilled rights of Rohingyan stateless children

This research sees the social vulnerability experienced by the elderly as a result of the social construction degrading on elderly which is formed in the society structure. In addition, the poverty experienced by the elderly, also increasingly provides more risk of vulnerability for them thus experiencing various treatments that are harmful and sufferable include, the social exclusion and elder abuse. This matter results in some losses of their human rights which is interpreted as a structural violence. The elderly residents of elderly nursing home in Bekasi experiencing structural violence are the subject of this research, which their experience was obtained through in-depth unstructured interviews and the observation of participation applied to analyze in this research.
