Get PDFHeritage tourism is a very big industry in the United States and worldwide. It is taking diverse and highly original directions. Heritage tourism as well was identified for further investigation because it offers such a significant public outreach opportunity to archaeology (Hoffman, Kwas & Silverman, 2002). In this research the scope that will be explored is how to developed high brand equity for sustainable archaeological tourism industry in Malaysia by referring to the case of the Lenggong Valley archaeological area.
Currently, the UNESCO is reviewing the Department of National Heritage Malaysia’s proposal to declare the Lenggong Valley as a World Heritage Site for its archaeological heritage. Associate Professor Mokhtar Saidin (Director of the Centre for Global Archaeological Research) who had played an instrumental role in preparing the proposal is optimist that the Lenggong Valley will be declared a World Heritage site by Feb 2011

The Benefits of School-Based Assessment
No full textSchool-based assessment (SBA) approach in evaluating students’ academic progress was officially introduced by
the Ministry of Education Malaysia and implemented in-line with the Standards-based Primary School
Curriculum, in stages starting in 2011 as part of Malaysia educational reform. Under this approach, teachers are
given greater responsibility to design quality assessments that align with their students’ learning outcomes Hence,
the objectives of this qualitative case study is focused on how the newly introduced assessment approach has
benefits the teaching and learning process in evaluating Year 1 academic progress in three urban Chinese primary
schools. Data collected from interviews involving three Year 1 Chinese language teachers found that teachers
have very positive perspectives towards SBA and that overall both teachers and students have benefited from this
system. However, there are also weaknesses that need to be acknowledged and improvements to be made. The
findings implicate that for SBA to be successful, teachers need to be creative, using varying strategies in their
teaching and exploiting repertoire of methods in assessing their students. Further study on the matter is inevitable
in ensuring the success of SBA’s implementation.; (Abstract by authors
Identifying factors that influence job performance amongst employees in oil palm plantation - FASS Final Project (Psychology)
Get PDFThis study is conducted to examine the factors that influence job performance
among employees in oil palm plantation. The objective of the study were: (a) to
identify whether stress influences the job performance of the plantation employees;
(b) to identify whether pay influences the job performance of the employees; (c) to
identify work environment affects the job performance of the employees and (d) to
identify whether the job performance is influenced by workload of the employees. For
the purpose of this study, from one of the palm oil plantation at an interior area, 50
employees were selected through random sampling technique. To achieve the
objectives, data were collected through a questionnaire probing various aspects of job
performance. The data analysis showed that stress, pay, work environment and
workload has significant differences on job performance of the oil palm plantation
employees. Overall comparisons reflected that stress and working environment
dominant over workload and pay more in job performance among the employees. (Abstract by author
Issues and Challenges of Integrating Digital Library Services in Blended Learning Environments: A Case Study of Open University Malaysia (OUM)
No full textResearch into digital libraries has been carried out from two perspectives being libraries as contents and as services/organizations. The authors approach this topic from the service perspective. They argue that existing academic libraries in most parts of the world have augmented their services to include digital library services. This chapter discusses the development and components of a digital library and types of digital library services. It also discusses partial research findings on the integration of digital library services in blended learning environments at Open University Malaysia (OUM), focusing on issues and challenges encountered by librarians, which are: the need to provide both digital and physical resources, synchronous and asynchronous interaction with users, and engagement in continuous improvement. Information professionals at tertiary institutions are recommended to: keep abreast with the changing learning environments, maintain cooperation with users, and equip themselves with the new user-centric roles, knowledge, and skills that are required in this era of technological advancement. Fesyen pemakaian tudung dikalangan remaja : satu kajian di Jitra - FASS Final Project (BIS)

fesyen bertudung. Tujuan kajian ini adalah mengenai pandangan pelajar wanita Islam
tentang fesyen bertudung remaja Islam terkini, pandangan terhadap fesyen bertudung dan
juga mengetahui tahap kefahaman remaja Islam mengenai tuntutan bertudung khususnya di
Jitra, kedah. Kajian ini hanya dilaksanakan berkenaan fesyen bertudung di kalangan remaja
perempuan Islam di Pekan Jitra sahaja. Penyelidik akan memilih 50 responden. Kajian
kuantitatif ini menggunakan soal selidik sebagai instrumen kajian. Aurat bagi mendapatkan
gambaran yang jelas berkenaan fesyen pemakaian tudung di kalangan remaja. Secara
keseluruhannya, dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa majoriti responden mengetahui
konsep, kewajipan bertudung serta mengikuti perkembangan fesyen bertudung. Namun,
kurang memberikan maklumbalas yang baik dari sudut pengamalannya. Hasil daripada
dapatan kajian yang diperolehi, penulis mengemukakan beberapa cadangan berkenaan
fesyen bertudung supaya dapat diaplikasikan dalam kehidupan masyarakat seharian. (Abstract by author
Web-based instruction for adult learners : an asynchronous delivery model for formal lifelong learning
Get PDFWeb-based Instruction (WBI) is becoming a favored teaching and
learning option in higher education. Unfortunately, the effects of WBI
on success, perception and gender have not been clearly
demonstrated or sufficiently addressed, especially for adult learners
who are engaged in the formal lifelong learning via the popular
asynchronous WBI (A-WBI). This paper attempts to address the
following objectives: (i) to propose a framework for A-WBI to deliver
lessons to adult learners who are enrolled in formal lifelong learning;
(ii) to implement the proposed framework; (iii) to explore adult
learner perceptions of A-WBI and of how gender influences their
perception; (iv) to explore the influence of A-WBI on the adult learner
summative assessment (final examination component); and (v) o
analyze the relationship between adult learner interaction with A-WBI
and their final examination marks. Objectives (i) and (ii) are achieved
by using the design and implementation approach while objectives
(iii), (iv) and (v) are achieved by an interpretive case study
methodology approach. The findings indicate: (i) moderate learner
responses for the use of A-WBI when studying have led to poor
performance in the summative assessment among adult learners; (ii)
female learners are the high-risk group in A-WBI; and (iii) quality
interaction in the A-WBI discussion forum has a strong relationship
with learner final examination scores. The paper concludes with
discussions on the findings and recommendations. (Abstract by author
