    No full text
Malaysia is home to about 80 ethnic groups. The three largest ethnic groups in Malaysia are Malays, Chinese and Indians. Sabah has the largest ethnic group with 32 ethnic groups. Meanwhile, Sarawak consists of 27 ethnic groups. Each ethnicity has its own cuisine and food recipes. Even, Penang Asam Laksa was listed in the CNN World’s 50 best foods (CNN, 2021). Besides that, CNN Travel (2021) highlighted 40 of Malaysia’s top dishes, for examples nasi lemak, roti canai and char kuey teow. This makes Malaysia a unique country. One of the reasons tourists come to Malaysia is for food. Several studies, such as Ferdous Alam et al.(2015), Sapheri et al.(2018), Sakolnakorn (2020), and Loh & Abd Razak (2021) proved that food is one of the reasons why Malaysia is a choice for vacation. As discussed by Yeoman & McMahon-Beatte (2016),“food tourism without doubt is a major component of the tourist’s itinerary and a focus of destination strategies. The interest in food tourism is a representation of tourism today”. Ellis et al.(2018) also highlighted five themes of food tourism–motivation, culture, authenticity, management and marketing, and destination orientation. (Abstract by authors

    No full text
The purpose of this study is to determine the factors that may influence individuals in Malaysia to engage in tax evasion. Three independent variables (attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioural control), one mediating variable (tax knowledge), and one dependent variable (tax evasion intention) are included. This report will utilize a quantitative method of analysis, relying on primary data. This study evaluates the direct relationship between attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioural control with tax knowledge, and the direct relationship between tax knowledge with tax evasion intention. Primary data were utilized in this study and a survey questionnaire which was adopted and adapted from previous studies was used for data collection. 204 clean data were used in the data analysis by utilizing the structural equation modeling technique. SPSS software and Smartpls version 4 software will be used for the assessment of direct and indirect relationships and hypotheses testing of the model. This research will provide valuable information into how to deal with the intention of paid workers in Malaysia to engage in tax evasion behaviour. Initially, the construct validity and reliability were assessed in order to determine the measurement model's convergent validity. Next, the Hetrotrait-Monotrait (HTMT) ratios and cross-loading were used to evaluate and corroborate the discriminant validity. The structural model was then evaluated, and the results of the hypothesis testing show that attitude and subjective norm have a positive and significant influence on tax knowledge and that tax knowledge has a significant impact on tax evasion behaviour. Accommodation needs, motivation and market attraction: a conceptual study on accessible tourism industry for people with disabilities in Malaysia

    No full text
Tourism sector, specifically accessible tourism, is getting more positive progress in the last few decades. Studies in the past mainly focused on inclusive tourism or tourism for all. Somehow, accessible tourism, which includes people with disabilities, is one of the ignored consideration in the field of tourism development. Most studies have ignored the inclusion of people with disabilities in the tourism sector. Making tourism more accessible to the disabled is not only a social responsibility, but there is a significant economic and business need to improve accessibility as it can boost the attractiveness of tourism in Malaysia. Past evidences show that by making adjustments to facilities, providing accurate and important information, and understanding the needs of people with disabilities can result in increased number of visitors. Thus, the main purpose of the study is to investigate this overlooked segment of our society, in order to come up with recommendations that can influence the intention to travel among people with disabilities in Malaysia. Data will be collected from 100 respondents which includes 50 who are disabled and have traveled more than once and stayed in a hotel for at least one night within last year and 50 participants consisting of managers from different hotels operating in Malaysia by employing semi-structured interviews. These 50 respondents with disabilities include people with mobility and physical impairments and people with hearing and communication disabilities. The data gathered will be investigated by employing two statistical packages, namely SPSS and Smart PLS. Multiple regression analysis will be utilized to predict the value of the variables in this research. (Abstract by authors

An improved quantum condition for the bound state problem in non-relativistic quantum mechanics using the NUFA method.

    No full text
The bound state is an intriguing quantum mechanics problem. In this paper, an improved and elegant quantum condition for the bound state problem in non-relativistic quantum mechanics using the Nikiforov-Uvarov functional analysis (NUFA) method is presented. From the quantum condition, two simple formulas are obtained to calculate the energy spectrum for the bound state problem, one for the case when the parameter α3≠0 and the other when α3→0. The corresponding eigenstates are also derived in terms of hypergeometric functions. Two bound state problems are studied using the improved quantum condition. (Abstract by author

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has caused disruptions in the delivery of instruction at all levels of educational institutions, whether those institutions are elementary, secondary, or postsecondary in nature. Due to this pandemic, a group of secondary school international students from Malaysia were unable to conduct face-to-face classes in Ma’had Al-Zaytun International School in Indonesia and were forced to shifts towards fully online learning mode. This study aims to explore students’ satisfaction and motivation in the online learning interaction at this international school. Based on the transaction distance theory, this study focuses on four modes of interaction, namely (i) interaction between students and teachers, (ii) interaction between students, (iii) interaction between students and learning materials, and (iv) interaction between students and interfaces. A qualitative study was employed to investigate the satisfaction and motivation of students using a semi-structured interview, class observation, and daily class report. Findings indicate that the majority of the students were satisfied with these online learning interactions and teachers were the main factors that motivated them to learn. According to this study as well, parents are also a factor that affects student participation in online learning. Students who receive encouragement and support from their parents are more likely to be satisfied with this online learning, which suggest that future research could be done to further examine. The purpose of this paper is to examine the prospective learner’s perception of effective market segmentation and advertising messages for open distance learning (ODL) advertisements. A descriptive study was conducted to assess the perceptions of prospective ODL learners in Malaysia. Selfadministered questionnaires were used to obtain meaningful data from 314 respondents. The study was conducted from January to March, 2021. Based on the analysis, accessibility between the ODL institution and its market segments was viewed by the majority of the respondents as more important than substantiality. Furthermore, the respondents agreed that reminders and persuasive messages are significant in attracting audience attention to an ODL institution. The standardised path coefficients have shown that accessibility, reminders and persuasive messages are significant predictors of the sustainability of ODL institutions, whereas substantiality was perceived by the respondents as being insignificant. The results from this study will help ODL institutions be more focused when designing their advertising messages, and will deepen their understanding of market needs. These findings have strong implications for academic ODL institutions, particularly in the aspect of institutional sustainability based on effective market segmentation and the right strategy of advertising messages
