    Gingivitis can occur during pregnancy. It is caused by subgingival plaque bacterial. They can enhance because level of estrogen and progesterone are elevated during pregnancy. At patient gingivitis showed that total count of leucocyte is bigger than patients with normal periodontal tissues. The objective of this study was to investigate the influence of the number of subgingival plaque bacterial colonies to total count of leucocyte in blood periphery. Subgingival plaque samples were collected from buccal surface of maxillary first molar. Hereinafter blood taken away from vein periphery and counted by total count leucocyte. The obtained data were analyzed with linear regression test. Statistical analysis showed that the influence of the number of subgingival plaque bacterial colonies to total count of leucocyte in blood periphery was found to be significant (P<0.05). The conclusion is that the number of subgingival plaque bacterial colonies can increase total count of leucocyte in blood periphery

    One of the empirical effects of black cumin seed or jinten hitam (Nigella sativa L.) is the agent of abortivum. Feenugreek seeds should not be prescribed medicinally for pregnant women since they can induce uterine contraction. The objectives of this study are to know whether the flavour mixture of black cumin seed, fenugreek, and ginseng can cause abnormalities or congenital malformation to the rat foetus and also whether the congenital malformation or birth defect have relationship significantly with the dosage given. The mixing was given orally to pregnant rats on the 7th day until 15th day of pregnancy to observe the sum of foetus, living foetus, fetal death, resorption (foetus biometric) and congenital malformation (gross morphology). The results indicated that there were many effects of the mixture toward rat foetus, such as the decrease of weight and length, increase of resorption and fetal death, but statistically not significant, except weight of foetus. The dosage of 520; 1697,8; 5543,3 mg/kg of body weight didn’t show abnormalities or congenital malformation

    Human life cannot be separated from activities. Human body has the ability to adapt and it has resistance to fatigue, but this capability has its restriction. So, whenever an activity is done on and on for a long time, then fatigue will occur. Fatigue can influence work productivity, one of which is work carefulness. In dentistry, work carefulness is required to get maximum result. The aim of this research is to know the influence of fatigue on students’ work carefulness of Faculty of Dentistry, University of Jember. The subjects of the research were 30 students of Faculty of Dentistry, University of Jember, male and female at the age of between 20 and 30 who do not suffer from color blind. The subjects were instructed to arrange beads with correct color order (green, white, blue, purple, orange, pink, and red) for 10 minutes. The bead arrangement that the subjects made were then counted based on the correct color order and their work carefulness was counted. Then, the research subjects were asked to step up and down the step-test bench once in every three seconds for two minutes to produce fatigue. Then the research subjects were instructed to arrange beads again and their work carefulness was counted. The result of the research was analyzed by using t-test, and it showed that there was a difference (p<0,05) on the level of work carefulness before and after the occurrence of fatigue that is, work carefulness decreases when fatigue occur

Subsequent generations have dramatically improved bond strength to dentin and the sealing of dentin margins while retaining a strong bond to enamel.     Preparation level prior to conduct dental filling results in smear layer. When smear layer is too thick, it will disturb the adhesion of restoration material to cavity wall, therefore it needs cleansing using dentin conditioner. One of cleansing materials for smear layer is acid with low concentration like citrate acid, hydrogen peroxide, and 10% of polyacrilate acid (Sutrisno, 2005). The use of natural materials in dental practice is an alternative and may minimize the side efect, one of them is belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L). This study is experimental laboratory aimed at analysing the potential of cleansing force of belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L) juice on the smear layer of cavity wall of tooth prepared. Ten samples of incisive teeth of cows were prepared with circle-shaped class 1 cavity design with 5 mm in diameter, 2,5 mm in depth in one third from the center of dental labial surface. Subsequently, 5 samples were polished with 10% of poliacrylic acid, the other 5 samples were polished 100% of belimbing wuluh juice, allowed for 10 seconds and irrigated with sterile aquades and dried. The samples were examined for their cleanliness from smear layer using SEM with 5000x magnifying. The result showed average value of cleanliness of the cavity bottom from smear applied with 10 % of polyacrilate acid was lower compared to the group with 100% of belimbing wuluh juice. Statistically, it showed a significant difference between the control group (10 % of polyacrilate acid) and treatment group (100% of belimbing wuluh juice). In conclusion, 100% of belimbing wuluh juicen has potential as dentin conditioner

    A factor that should be considered in the use of alginate impression materials is cross-infection control,therefore the result of alginate mold should be disinfected using a chemical or natural materials, such as sodiumhypochlorite (NaOCl) 1%, and bay leaf boiling water (Eugenia polyantha Wight) 100% before gypsum filling.However, this can lead to changes in the dimensional stability on the result of the mold. The objective of this researchwas to determine the effect of the use of these materials as a disinfectant with flushing and immersing method fordimensional stability of alginate mold result. The type of this study was laboratories experimental with post test onlycontrol group design. Total sample is 24 samples of alginate mold result were devided in to 6 groups: 2 control groupsand 4 treatment groups using the flushing and immersing methods. Data were tabulated and analyzed with TwoWay Analiysis of variance (Anova) technique adjusted for multiple comparisons using Tukey's (HSD) method wasused. The result of the study shows that the immersing method gives more influences to the dimensional stability ofalginate mold result, but use flushing method and both disinfectant materials do not have a significant effect ondimensional changes of alginate mold result
