This study aims to examine the effect of using interactive compensatory model (ICM)-based integrated thematic learning tools to improve students\u27 reading comprehension of information text comprehension for fifth grade elementary school. This research was conducted in three stages. The first phase of the preliminary study included a literature study, field surveys and expert-validated initial product preparation. The second stage of development included limited trials and extensive trials through experimental methods. The third stage was product testing and socialization of the results to try out its efficacy. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, questionnaires and test (pre-test and post-test). This study used a sample of 504 grade fifth students in 12 elementary schools in Bandung Regency. The results of this study indicate that the use of ICM-based integrated thematic learning tools has a significant effect on students\u27 improvement for reading comprehension on information text for fifth grade elementary school. This is evidenced by the difference in students\u27 reading comprehension ability before and after learning using ICM-based integrated thematic learning tools. This research has implications for the ease with which teachers can achieve learning objectives with the support of teaching materials, media, worksheets and interesting and practical activities that can stimulate students to improve their reading comprehension skills

The effort to integrate Islamic values into learning has both attracted Islamic scholars to discuss and led them to offer their models which are open to examine. The purpose of this study is to discover a hypothetical model of integration planning of Islamic values into learning sociology at SMA (Sekolah Menengah Atas/Senior High School) PGII (Persatuan Guru Islam Indonesia/The Association of Indonesian Islamic Teachers) 2 Bandung. This present study employed a qualitative approach and a descriptive method in the form of case study. The data were collected using techniques namely: interviews, observation, and study documentation.  The data were analysed through several steps namely: reducing, coding, displaying, interpreting of findings, and conclusion drawing. Based on the results of the study, the planning of the integration of Islamic values in learning sociology at SMA PGII 2 Bandung was applied through the use of the 2013 curriculum instrument. This integration occurred in the level of justification models. This is to say that the Quran was used as a justification tool for the learning contents of sociology learning. In this regard, the monotheism paradigm was brought into existence in the learning phases namely beginning, middle, and end of learning.  Those phases served as efforts to create a religious atmosphere so that were designed and planned in order to reach Islamic values integration in sociology learning

This study aims to describe the development of madrasa education system in African continent. It also explores the development of madrasa in Taraba State, Nigeria. This research used a descriptive method. The results showed that in African continent, madrasa institutions had their historical developments, financial support and how British colonial influenced their development. In Nigeria, madrasa institutions have had similar developments with their counterparts from other countries in the African continent. British colonialism has reduced the supremacy of madrasa in terms of financial and managerial capacity. In Taraba State, Nigeria, there are several different forms of traditional non-formal Islamic education. Their forms include madrasa qur\u27anic college with the evolutionary development around Alaramma; madrasa whose mobility is limited; and Islamic school. The three educational institutions are recognized by the government and they have experienced modernization in terms of their management for the Qur\u27an program and their Western infrastructure use.Â

The study aims at exploring the implementation of International Service Learning (ISL) among Islamic Higher Education Institutions in Indonesia, its challenges, and strategies to cope with them. To explore the phenomena, six Islamic Higher Education Institutions (IHEI) implementing the ISL in Indonesia were purposively selected as sample of the study. A face-to-face interview with the respondents and document analysis towards relevant resources were employed as the main data collection techniques. After analysing the data and, later, triangulated them, the following findings emerge. First, the implementation of ISL was structurally carried out on the basis of preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Second, employing a framework of ISL implementation, coined by Baker-Boosamra, most recommeded steps were followed. Third, ISL among IHEIs encounter some challenges to cope with. Some could be successfully resolved; some others remain unresolved. The study recommends that ISL among IHEIs be properly managed by formulating specific objectives. The formulated objectives serve as the standard of ISL successful implantation

Islamic schools have participated in Indonesian educational market and they have shown significant developments both in their achievement and their images. Their competitiveness is reflected in the level of their electability which can be investigated from the survey. This study was aimed at investigating the principal component that influenced the electability of Islamic schools with the formulation of any variable problems that contributed significantly to the electability of Islamic schools. This research applied Principal Component Analysis (PCA) with a questionnaire instrument using nine variables with 72 measuring statements. There were 204 respondents took a part from MTsN (Madrasah Tsanawiyyah Negeri/State Islamic Junior High School) 5 Jember and SMPIT (Sekolah Menengah Pertama Islam Terpadu/Integrated Islamic Junior High School) Al-Ghazali Jember. The results of this study showed the principal component in each Islamic school amounted to one with an eigen value of 6.3081 and 6.1140. Based on the result of this study, some variables contributed significantly to the school electability and this was done by continuing the analysis until the proportion value was greater than 80 percent. The variables of principal, teachers and learning atmosphere influenced school electability at MTs Negeri 5 Jember and variables of school principals, teachers and infrastructure influenced significantly school electability at SMPIT Al-Ghazali

This study aims to describe the effectiveness of the Participatory Observation learning model and students\u27 responses to the learning model used in PAI (Pendidikan Agama Islam/Islamic Education). It used qualitative and quantitative methods with a pre-test and post-test nonrandomized group pre-experiment design. The 125 participants who were taken from three public universities, were asked to fill out questionnaires and written interviews. The data were analysed using paired t-test and qualitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that first experiment got a t-score of 6,798 with a significance of 0,000; t-table score at 51 degrees of freedom and a significant degree of 0.05 in the form of 2.032. Second experiment obtained a t-score of 5.991 with a significance of 0.000; the t-table score at 54 degrees of freedom and 0.05 degrees of significance was 2.046. Third experiment achieved a t-score of 6.424 with a significance of 0.000; the t-table score at 20 degrees of freedom and 0.05 degrees of significance was 2.054. When compared, t-score> t-table or significance score <0.05, which means that the mean score between pre-test and post-test is significantly different. This means that the Participatory Observation learning model can improve students\u27 religious and social character in learning PAI. This result is in line with the respondents\u27 recognition that they have experienced changes in their character in a positive direction. Students stated that the Participatory Observation learning model was fun and very useful, so that it could be used in PAI learning to improve students\u27 character

In RA (Raudhatul Athfal/Islamic Early Childhood Education) context, since many teachers relied heavily on standard learning guidelines, most of them didn\u27t have the power of creativity to make learning for children fun.  As a result, children were likely to experience burn out and this calls for a solution to apply like kaulinan barudak to develop children\u27s character values. This study was aimed at determining the effectiveness of the implementation of kaulinan barudak, Sundanese traditional games in developing character values for children in RA (Raudhatul Athfal/Islamic Early Childhood Education). This research applied a quasi-experimental method with Nonequivalent Pretest-Posttest design. This research was conducted in two RA schools namely RA Al Muqadasah 1 and RA Al-Muqadasah 2 with 36 children involved. The test result for average difference on the post-test showed that children\u27s character values of the experimental class and the control class at the 0.05 significance level was obtained p (sig. (2-tailed) = 0,000. This indicated that there was a significant difference between the average score of the experimental class and control class in their post-test in terms of their character values scores at a level of confidence of 95%. Applying kaulinan barudak provided the experimental class a fun learning experience, potential growth, fun game, peer interaction, and a pleasant atmosphere. The process allowed character values to occur and children learned those values and realized them in kaulinan barudak
