    Implementing of Science-Social Integration in Islamic Education Learning

    Theoretically, religion and social science have an integrative relationship because they originate from God developed by human. However, practically, the relationship occurs in a dichotomy so that it has implications in learning activities at Islamic educational institutions, especially in the classroom context. The gap between those theories and practice generates the idea of integrating religious science and social science in Islamic universities. Therefore, this article describes the implementation of social science in Islamic religious education learning at the Department of Islamic Education State Islamic University of Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung. Based on the theory of scientific integration, this study applied observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. The result shows that social science can be integrated into Islamic education learning related to learning (philosophical) competencies, learning materials, learning strategy; and the learning evaluation

    Implementing Character Education in Madrasah

    This study investigated the application model of character education in Islamic Religious Education learning and spiritual extracurricular activities in Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 3 Palembang. Data were collected using participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results show that the implementation model of character education is a collaboration between the integration model and the supplement. Character education is collaborated through learning Islamic Religious Education and spiritual extracurricular activities. These two activities produce knowledge, attitudes, and moral actions on the part of students. The success of character education can be seen from the behavior of students who have religious behavior, honest, disciplined, responsible, caring, polite, cooperative, creative, hard-working, curious, friendly, and social care. There were some factors that supported the success of character education and they include religious programs, dormitories, and facilities. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors for the success of character education were the negative influence of technology, limited supervision by madrasa institutions, and weak cooperation between madrasas and parents of students

    The Implementation of Research Based Learning Materials on Student Learning Competency in Islamic Higher Institution

    The study on research-based learning material needs to be introduced in universities in order to achieve student competence. The purpose of this study is to investigate the contribution of teaching materials for Islamic Studies courses to be internalized in order to achieve the competence of English literature study program. This research applied qualitative method using an action research approach. Data were collected using tests, observations and interviews. The data were analyzed in the form of student learning performance. Their performance included students\u27 thinking styles, patterns of processing information, attitudes and their work. Based on Thorndike\u27s theory of connectionism, it was found that the draft teaching materials implemented through the classroom learning process in the form of thinking styles and ways of processing information were in accordance with their competencies. The implementation of the learning process was carried out through the internalization of Islamic educational values which can be seen in the attitude of students\u27 politeness and the work they obtained

    A Thematic Digital Quran Learning Model in Islamic Religious Education

    In the digital era, learning activity requires several competencies including several applications to use digital media like digital Quran. This research is aimed at analyzing the strategies to increase religious substance in Islamic religious education courses for students Majoring in PAI (Pendidikan Agama Islam/Islamic Religious Education), Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, through the Digital Quran. This study applied a survey approach involving 104 students in their third semester. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that the thematic learning of the digital Quran, which was carried out simultaneously, could increase students’ religious substance with Fcount 22.477 > Ftable 3.09, significance value 0.05, and probability 0.00

    Exploring Students\u27 Affective on Using Asynchronous Learning During the Pandemic Period

    The distance learning can greatly improve student\u27s cognitive development, but its success in increasing students\u27 affective competence have not been conclusively reported. This study aims to investigate students\u27 affective aspects, parents, and teacher perspective on islamic religious education using asynchronous learning. Data were collected using questionnaires, interview, and observation. The data were analysed using descriptive analysis. The results show that there was a change on students\u27 competence in terms of affective religious aspects. Initially 60% students have negative attitudes and decreased to 30% after they had experienced asynchronous distance learning with commitment of learning establishment. The parents in their interview expressed that they were greatly assisted by the commitment of learning their children formed. The asynchronous learning with learning commitment can be considered successful to help students improve their attitudes. This study shows that e-learning accompanied by a learning commitment between student and teachers turns out to be able to give positive results on the part of students\u27 affective on islamic religious education

    Students’ Critical Thinking Skills in The Reflective Class of Islamic Cultural History

    This study investigates students’ critical thinking skills in the subject of Islamic Cultural History, built within reflective teaching. It applied qualitative method using descriptive analytic. The study involved students from Class-XI aged 16-17 years old in MAN 1 and MAN 2 in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. The data were collected using observation and documentation for the contemplative teaching and learning process. The data then were analysed using Miles and Hubermen covering data reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The results show that the reflective class supported the students’ learning development and their critical thinking. The students prepared well for learning, engaged in the learning activities, contributed to the discussion, and enthusiastically compiled personal journals. When it comes to their critical thinking development, the students showed their progressive capacities in building their ideas, evaluating theirs and others’ arguments and working together to solve problems.Â

    Implementation of Indonesian National Qualification Framework Based Curriculum in Higher Islamic Education

    The era of globalization requires various sectors to make changes, including in the world of education. In higher education, the curriculum should be designed to comply with the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI) to respond these changes. The curriculum is based on the framework of qualification levels which equalize, juxtapose, and unify learning outcomes with work experience into the types, forms and levels of higher education. This study aims to describe the implementation KKNI based curriculum for postgraduate program at the State Islamic Religious Institutions (PTKIN) in East Java. It applied descriptive-qualitative. The data were collected using observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The data were analysed using descriptive-qualitative analysis. The results shown that the implementation of KKNI based curriculum in postgraduate at PTKIN institutions in East Java took place from 2016 to 2020. The implementation began with socialization in the form of curriculum workshops. In those workshops, a curriculum draft and guidelines for its implementation were prepared. However, there were some in the implementation. One of them is that most of the lecturers did not understand the basic concepts of curriculum. To overcome this, intensive workshops were held to prepare syllabus, semester program plans and courses for each semester

    Developing a Questionnaire on Measuring the Learning Motivation in Reading Quran

    Learning motivation has been examined for its positive influence on learning outcomes. However, little attention has been addressed to the development of measuring instruments of learning motivation in the context of reading the Quran in Indonesian higher education. This study was designed to develop a Quran learning motivation questionnaire. The Self-Determination Theory (SDT) was applied as a theoretical framework to explore the type dan level of motivation. Participants involved in this study were 420 students. They were divided into subsample one for exploratory factor analysis (N = 200) and subsample two with confirmatory factor analysis (N = 220). The questionnaire was developed with 12 item-three factors using five points Likert scale that can measure the learning motivation in reading Quran. The results of the study show that the level of student motivation is relatively low (M= 3.12), and the intrinsic motivation type (M= 3.99) is more dominant than extrinsic motivation survival (M= 2.99) and approval (M= 2.38) with a p-value of 0.000. In addition, it was found that female students (M= 3.19) had significantly higher motivation than male students (M= 3.04), with a p-value of 0.017

    Studying Islam and Its Adherents in Australian Universities

    Islamic Studies is a relatively new, yet growing phenomenon in Australian universities. With an increased focus on Islam and Muslim in the age of War on Terror and with Australian Muslim population fast increasing, Islamic Studies is an important intellectual tool to better understand, Islam and Muslims and many challenges facing them. This paper is an investigation of the recent trends and developments in Islamic Studies as an academic discipline in Australian universities. This is an important intellectual task because Islamic Studies continues to play a significant role in Australian academia. The data were collected from literature review and are analysed descriptively. The findings of the study show that the intellectual tools developed in Islamic Studies can be deployed to build relationship between fragmented Muslim communities and between Muslims and non-Muslims particularly in multicultural Australia. Islamic Studies draws on a variety of fields making it a crossdiscipline. As such, it offer a rich and analytic investigation of world’s second largest religion and its multiple expressions. Australian universities offer Islamic studies ranging from undergraduate to postgraduate program. The topic studied include Islamic philosophy, jurisprudence, education, history, and Arabic

    Building Students\u27 Character through Prophetic Education at Madrasa

    Several cases of juveniles have to some extent dominated mass media news recently and this worrying reality is contradictory to the purpose of education that teenagers are expected to achieve. In an attempt to solve this problem, various efforts have been made by educators and one of them is to promote prophetic-based education. This study was aimed at investigating prophetic education at Madrasa Muallimin/Muallimat (MMA) Bahrul Ulum Tambak Beras, Jombang. This research is qualitative descriptive using models of Miles and Huberman analyses. The data collected were analyzed through several steps namely reduction, presentation, and data verification. The results showed that the prophetic education was applied in MMA through internalizing Islamic values for students in their learning process. When it comes to internalizing values, MMA referred and addressed the local culture to cultivate for students. This process has been built since the establishment of MMA so that it has built students’ character which in turn gradually form the identity of the MMA among the society where it exists
