The teacher stated that the lack of motivation and interest of students in learning German so that the material cannot be absorbed properly. Besides that, sometimes students find it difficult to visualize the material presented. So, the researcher developed an educational game media based on Role Play Game (RPG) called Dajul's odyssey: portal of language to solve the problem. The purpose of this research is to produce an educational game based on Role Play Game. Role Play Game is a digital-based game in the form of role simulation that requires players to play characters that have been determined by the game story. RPG development can be done with the Research and Development method. This research results in an RPG-based educational game with Essen und Trinken material. This media has been validated by material and media experts who are assessed using a questionnaire with a Likert scale. The first expert gave a score of 92.85% (Very Good) and the second expert gave a score of 88.57% (Very Good). Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that the Role Play Game was developed based on the students' needs and the Role Play Game named “Dajul's Odyssey: Portal of Languages” received an excellent rating and response from both experts. Therefore, RPG can be used as an alternative choice of learning media for learning German vocabulary

From the results of the studies can be concluded: 1) D-Lesen android application can be developed using the research and development method. 2) D-Lesen android application got very good responses from teachers and good from students. So, the D-Lesen android application can be used as a medium for learning basic reading independently. Keywords: Media, Development, D-Lesen Android Applicatio
FROM CULTURE TO CULTURAL: EXPLAINING THE TRANSFORMATION OF ACADEMIC DISCOURSES THROUGH HERDERIAN NOTIONS
AbstractThe adjective “cultural” cumulates all the complexity of today’s world. It has become a widely used qualifier in social and human sciences. The morphological transformation from adjective to noun motivates substantial research and conceptual developments. In this difficult conjuncture, historical epistemology creates the conditions for a true dialogue between cultural, sociolinguistic and scientific realities. Adjectivization can be seen as a direct consequence of relativization and personalization of culture. Largely attributed to Herder and Boas, the relativization process has exponentially increased and diversified the use of the concept of culture. The ongoing conceptual pluralization can be traced back to Herder. By creating the plural term “cultures”, Herder facilitated the gradual transformation of the noun into an adjective and brought to light its heterogeneous nature. The intense psychologization during twentieth and twenty-first centuries elevated the Herderian concept of culture to the status of a central instrument in the humanities and reinforced its pluralization through an increased focus on individual determinants
ANALYSIS OF THE PARTICLE "SO" IN THE GERMAN LANGUAGE
AbstractThe particle "so" occurs frequently in the spoken language and has different functions and meanings. For this reason, learners of German often have difficulty understanding the context of sentences containing the particle "so". This study aims to describe the function as well as the meaning of the particle "so" found in the data source, namely the novel Räuberhände by Finn-Ole Heinrich. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach, this study applies the theories of Engel (2004), Nübling (2009), and Helbig/Buscha (2001). The results show that 1) the functions of the particle "so" are different in the German language, namely: als, subjunctives, conjunctives, adverbs, degree particles and comparison particles. 2) The meaning of the particle "so" cannot be separated from the function of the particle "so" itself. The particle "so" is used as a subjunctive to indicate cause(s) and consequence(s). As a conjunct, the particle "so" is used to compare something or someone, just like the particle "so" as a comparative particle. As a particle of degree, the particle "so" is used to increase or decrease the value of an adjective. In addition, the particle "so" is used as an adverb for an event that has not yet happened, as well as to indicate a path, to describe a person, to describe a time and to describe something that is not certain. From a grammatical point of view, adding words to the particle "so" - such as "so that" and "so as" - affects the meaning of the sentence context. In addition, the particle "so" itself sometimes has no semantic meaning, but only serves as an adverb about something. Keywords: the particle "so", Germa
DEVELOPMENT OF LEARNING MEDIA IN THE FORM OF PAPER PUPPETS FOR LEARNING GERMAN SPEAKING AT ELEMENTARY LEVEL
German is one of the second foreign language subjects studied by Indonesian students at the Senior High School (SMA) and Madrasah Aliyah (MA) levels. There are four language skills that must be mastered in German, namely listening (Hören), speaking (Sprechen), reading (Lesen), and writing (Schreiben). Speaking (Sprechen) is one of the skills that students need to master, because with speaking skills, students can convey their intentions, desires, ideas, and opinions orally. However, in practice, students still experience difficulties in speaking German. Therefore, researchers developed paper puppet-based learning media to overcome these difficulties. Paper puppet media is a learning media made of paper in the form of cartoon images or real images with stalks to move. This study aims to produce, implement paper puppet-based learning media in learning to speak German and to find out the responses of teachers and students to the use of paper puppet media in KBM. The research method used is the development method (Research and Development). Researchers involved teachers and students of class XI-MIPA I at SMA PGII 2 Bandung as respondents who gave an assessment of the development product in the form of paper puppet media. The process of developing paper puppets is carried out by collecting information, planning, developing the initial form of the product, field testing and product revision. The results of this study are eight characters of paper puppet media. The eight characters consist of two teenage boys, two adult men, two teenage girls and two adult women. The paper puppet media has a simple mechanism to be moved and can be changed according to the needs of the theme. Product assessment was carried out using a Likert scale through a questionnaire given to teachers and students. Teachers acting as media and learning material experts gave an assessment of 97.77% (very good) of the paper puppet media and gave an assessment of 97.50% (very good) of the learning materials used. The average assessment given by students on paper puppet media is 96.42% (very good). Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that paper puppet media can be well received by teachers and students as a supporting medium in learning to speak German. This paper puppet media can still be developed to be better. Keywords: media, development, puppet
ANALYSIS OF SCHREIBÜBUNGEN IN NETZWERK NEU A2 TEXTBOOKS
Writing is one of the important skills in foreign language learning, in addition to listening, speaking, and reading. In learning writing skills, the terms Schreibaufgaben 'writing tasks' and Schreibübungen 'writing exercises' are known, as well as terms related to the function of writing, Schreiben als Ziel 'writing as a goal' and Schreiben als Mittel 'writing as another purpose'. Schreiben als Ziel is related to Aufgaben and Schreiben als Mittel is related to Übungen. However, in this study it is not distinguished between the two, therefore Schreibübungen includes Schreibaufgaben and Schreibübungen. Textbooks are one of the learning media to assist teaching and learning activities, so that learners understand and master learning materials more easily. Therefore, teachers need to be familiar with the textbooks that will be used as much as possible. The purpose of this research is to find out: (1) the types of Schreibübungen contained in the Netzwerk neu A2 textbook, and (2) the suitability of Schreibübungen offered in the textbook with the GER. In this research, the method applied is descriptive analysis which includes the process of collecting, compiling, and describing data which becomes the basis for drawing conclusions from the formulation of research problems. The results showed that: (1) in the Kursbuch Netzwerk neu A2 textbook there are 22 planning exercises; 36 developing exercises; five composing exercises; 11 free, creative writing exercises; and two communicative writing exercises, and (2) in the textbook there are 22 writing exercises that have conformity with A1 level, 50 exercises with A2 level, and four exercises with B1 level. Based on the results of this study, the author recommends that teachers should understand the various forms of Schreibübungen; develop writing exercises, and develop evaluation instruments for writing skills. Keywords: GER, Netzwerk neu A2, Schreibübunge
