IMPLEMENTING WORD-COLORING MEDIA IN INCREASING ENGLISH VOCABULARY AND LEARNING MOTIVATION OF THE YEAR FIVE PUPILS OF SDN 27 PALU
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengukur pengaruh penerapan media mewarnai kata dalam meningkatkan kosakata bahasa Inggris dan motivasi belajar murid SDN 27 Palu. Sampel penelitian kuasi eksperimen ini terdiri dari murid SDN 27 Palu diantaranya 30 siswa kelas VA sebagai kelas eksperimen dan 30 siswa kelas VB sebagai kelas kontrol. Sampel tersebut dipilih secara acak Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah tes objektif dalam mengukur pengetahuan murid tentang kosakata bahasa Inggris dan pernyataan kuesioner untuk mengukur motivasi murid dalam pengaplikasian mewarnai kata. Data penelitian ini menggunakan rumus independent t-test, dengan mengaplikasikan derajat kebebasan (df) = 58 (30+30-2) dengan taraf signifikan 0.05 dipeoleh hasil t-table 2.002. Analisis data mengindikasikan bahwa nilai rata-rata untuk kelas eksperimen telah meningkat dari 61,00 di pretest sampai 78.56 di posttest. Hasil penelitian mengindikasikan bahwa adanya peningkatan kosakata bahasa Inggris murid setelah diaplikasikan perlakuan tersebut. Selanjutnya, perhitungan data dengan mengaplikasikan independent t-test menunjukkan bahwa nilai thitung 5,630 lebih besar dari ttabel 2.002. Data membuktikan bahwa implementasi mewarnai kata mempunyai pengaruh pada kosakata bahasa Inggris murid. Hasil terakhir yang juga dianalisa adalah nilai rata-rata motivasi siswa yang diajarkan melalui media mewarnai kata 105.53 lebih besar dari siswa yang tidak diajarkan 94.17. Perhitungan data kuesioner juga mengindikasikan bahwa nilai thitung 4.16 lebih besar dari ttabel 2.002. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pada motivasi belajar murid yang diajarkan dengan media mewarnai kata dan murid yang tidak diajarkan dengan media mewarnai kata. Kedua perhitungan tes dan kuesioner membuktikan bahwa Ha pada penelitian ini diterima dan Ho ditolak. Dengan kata lain, penerapan media mewarnai kata dapat meningkatkan pemahaman baca dan motivasi belajar murid
MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN MENULIS PUISI DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN METODE MENULIS BERANTAI SISWA KELAS V SD INPRES 1 TALISE PALU
Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana penerapan metode menulis berantai untuk meningkatkan kemempuan menulis puisi siswa kelas V SD. Inpres 1 Talise Palu dan apakah penerapan metode menulis berantai dapat meningkatkan kemempuan menulis puisi siswa kelas V SD Inpres 1 Talise Palu. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan penerapan metode menulis berantai untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis puisi dan meningkatkan hasil menulis puisi siswa kelas V SD Inpres 1 Talise Palu tahun ajaran 2015/2016 melalui penerapan metode menulis berantai. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode diskritif. Ada pun data penelitian ini adalah data kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Data kuantitatif diperoleh melalui hasil evaluasi tes sedangkan data kualitatif diperoleh melalui hasil observasi dengan meggunakan analis presentase. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian bahwa penggunaan metode menulis berantai dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menulis puisi siswa kelas V SD Inpres 1 Talise Palu. Hal ini terlihat adanya peningkatan jumlah siswa yang mengalami ketuntasan belajar dari siklus I hingga siklus II yaitu dari nilai rata rata klasikal 14,28% dan kelulusan individu 55,75% pada siluis I meningkat menjadi rata rata klasikal 95,25% dan rata rata individu menjadi 80,05% pada siklus II hal ini berarti dari juimlah 21 siswa yang mencapai ketuntasan 20 siswa yang tuntas, maka penelitian ini dapat dikatakan berhasil atau hipotesis dapat dibuktikan
INVESTIGATING ENGLISH VOCABULARY OF GRADE X STUDENTS AT SMA NEGERI 3 TOLITOLI
Abstrak Tujuan dari studi kasus ini menggambarkan tentang permasalahan siswa dalam menguasai kosakata. Subyeknya adalah siswa kelas X pada SMA Negeri 3 Tolitoli. Data dikumpulkan melalui dokumen sekolah, kuisioner, dan wawancara. Analisis datanya menunjukkan bahwa kosa kata siswa masih sangat rendah atau sangat kurang. Ini berarti hanya sedikit siswa yang dapat menjawab benar dalam pilihan ganda, mencocokkan kata pada soal mencocokan kata, melengkapi kalimat, mengartikan kata, dan menyusun kalimat. Diantara lima soal yang disediakan oleh guru, 93% siswa gagal dalam mengerjakan soal menyusun kalimat. Selain itu, masalah dari pengaruh kosa kata siswa dan membuat proses belajar dan mengajar tidak efektif adalah gangguan siswa dalam proses pembelajaran dan proses komunikasi karena kurangnya minat siswa siswa dalam belajar bahasa inggris, kurangnya kosakata bahasa inggris, dan sulitnya pemahaman dan mengidentifikasi konsep dalam bahasa Inggris. PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN MENULIS PUISI MENGGUNAKAN MEDIA GAMBAR SISWA KELAS V SDN III TOAYA
The objective of classroom action research was to describe a result of an improvement writing of poetry ability of fifth grade students at SDN No. 3 Toaya after it was applicating the using of learning picture media. The dta observation of the students analyzed by qualitative with using observation paper of activating student and teacher. The result of free poetry writing ability by quantitative using descriptive analysis. Based on the data analysis and explanation of research result, it is obtained the data : class average score in learning writing of poetry at the cycle I achieve 69,76, and at the cycle II achieve 75,2. It was showed there was an improvement of class average score from cycle I to the cycle II was 5,44. From the obtaining of the data, it is can be concluded that the application of picture media can improve writing poetry ability at the fifth grade students at SDN No. 3 Toaya
IMPLIKATUR DALAM PEMBELAJARAN BAHASA INDONESIA DI SMA LABSCHOOL UNTAD PALU
Implikatur represents the form of language use of oral language or written language that represents different meaning intended by speaker. Teaching and Learning process at formal education is one of Ianguage activities that demand good communications between students and teachers. Implikatur in Indonesian study at SMA Labschool Untad Palu is one of Ianguage phenomenon that happened in formal education environment. Implikatur discourse happened because the influence from context factor when the discourse take place. This research carried 3 implikatur problems in Indonesian study at SMA Labschool Untad Palu, namely; (1) implikatur forms in Indonesian study at SMA Labschool Untad Palu; (2) implikatur funtions in Indonesian study at SMA Labschool Untad Palu; and (3) strategies of implikatur use in Indonesian study at SMA Labschool Untad Palu.Relevant with the problems, hence this research aim to describe the implikatur forms, functions, and strategies of implikatur use in Indonesian study at SMA Labschool Untad Palu. This Research represented the descriptive qualitative research by using the content analysis approach. The data of this research came from teachers and students’ discourse in teaching and learning process at SMA Labschool Untad Palu.The results of this research in the form of; (1) Implikatur forms, that are implikatur in the form of questions, implikatur in the form of statements, implikatur in the form of answers, and implikatur in the form of comands; (2) Implikatur functions, that are motivation function, humor function, draw attention function, violation prevention function, reference giving function, connection giving function; (3) Implikatur strategies, that are angry strategy indirectly, humorous indirectly, expected informations indirectly, and expected actions indirectly. KARAKTERISTIK PENGGUNAAN TINDAK TUTUR DIREKTIF DALAM PEMBELAJARAN DI MADRASAH ALIYAH PUTRI AISYIYAH PALU
This research aims at describing the characteristics of directive speech act usage cover (1) form, (2) function and (3) strategy of instructional at Madrasah Aliyah Putri Aisyiyah Palu. The data source was obtained from teacher and students’ speech act when learning process occurred. Approach used was pragmatic approach. Method employed was descriptive qualitative. Data were collected through two techniques, was namely (1) recording and (2) observation. The subjects were teacher and students of Madrasah Aliyah Putri Aisyiyah Palu. Technique of data analysis was interactive model. Analysis of this research covered four stages, namely: (1) data collection, (2) data reduction, (3) data display and (4) verification/drawing conclusion. The research results reveal that learning process at Madrasah Aliyah Putri Aisyiyah Palu consists of (1) command form, (2) inviting form, (3) asking for form, (4) pleasing form, (5) prohibition form, (6) refusing form, (7) question form and (8) statement form. The function of directive speech act of the research consists of: (1) command function, (2) inviting function, (3) asking for function, (4) pleasing function, (5) prohibition function and (6) refusing function. Command function is for commanding, recommending, increasing concentration of the students, testing students’ understanding, (2) inviting function is for invitation, recommendation, increasing students’ concentration, (3) request function is for requesting, offering, conducive a situation, testing students’ understanding, (4) pleasing function is for pleasing, allowing, increasing students’ understanding, (5) prohibition function is for prohibition, prevention, conducive a situation and (6) refusing function is for refusing, limiting explanation, avoiding. Strategies used in directive speech act were direct and indirect strategy. The direct strategy comprised (1) direct command, (2) direct inviting, (3) direct requesting, (4) direct pleasing, (5) direct prohibition and (6) direct refusing. Meanwhile, indirect strategy comprised (1) indirect question and (2) indirect statement with various functions that referred behind the speech depend on the context.
UPAYA MENINGKATKAN KETERAMPILAN MENULIS KARANGAN NARASI MELALUI MEDIA GAMBAR SERI PADA SISWA KELAS V MADRASAH IBTIDAIYAH SIS ALJUFRI TATURA PALU
Abstack The research problem was to develop narrative writing skill of the Fifith Grade at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Sis Aljufri Tatura Palu and how was the procedure of the application of Narrative Essay Writing Skill through Series Picture of the Fifith Grade at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Sis Aljufri Tatura Palu. This research aimed to develop students' ability to write narrative essays of the Fifith Grade at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Sis Aljufri Tatura Palu and applied the pocedure of narrative essay writing through media image series fifth grade students at Government Elementary School Sis Aljufri Palu. Data collected by evaluation sheets, observation sheets, questionnaires, and documentation. Based on the research findings, it showed that the use of series picture media could improve students' writing skills narrative. It was seen an increase in the number of the students who have mastery learning from cycle 1 to cycle 3. In addition, there was an increase in the average value of narrative writing skills from the cycle 1 to cycle 3. In pre-action, the students who have achieved the criteria of succes were 8 students (27%), in the first cycle were 19 students (63%), in the second cycle were 21 students (70%), and the third cycle as many as 23 students (77%). The average of narrative writing skills of students in pre-action activities was 62.50 in the first cycle was 67.33, second cycle was 71, 53 and third cycle was 74.03. Furthermore, the application of contextual teaching and learning in the teaching of writing essays through picture series was developed on observations of narrative writing. In the first cycle, the students’ narrative writing was 70%, the second cycle was 78% and in the third cycle was 90%. Keywords: Writing, Narrative Essay, Picture Series
TUTURAN PERINTAH DALAM WACANA PERKULIAHAN DI PROGRAM MAGISTER PENDIDIKAN BAHASA INDONESIA PASCASARJANA UNIVERSITAS TADULAKO
Abstract This research aimed at describing the use of directive act that comprised the form of directive command, (2) the function of directive command, (3) the strategy of directive command on the Lecturing Discourse at Master Program Indonesian Language of Graduate Program of Tadulako University. This research employed qualitative descriptive method. Data were gathered through two techniques: (1) recording, and (2) observation. The Subject of this research was lectures and student of Master Program of Indonesian Language of Postgraduate Program of Tadulako University, the 2012-2014 academic year. The technique of data analysis was interactive model. The analysis comprised four stages: (1) data collection, (2) data reduction, (3) data presentation, and (4) verification/conclusion. The results show that on the Lecturing Discourse at Master Program of Indonesian Language of Postgraduate Program of Tadulako University, the act of directive command was stated in the form of command directive command, and it was an obligation. On the function of command, it was to limit the question and to ask explanation. Strategies applied on the act of directive command were direct and indirect ones. Direct strategy applied on the act of directive command and direct command with argument. Indirect strategy comprised indirect command act were adopted by lectures for the certain thing, and limiting kinds of question and statement. Form, function, and strategy of directive command act were adopted by lecturers for the certain aims, such as asking explanation to certain thing, and limiting kinds of questions stated by students in the process of instruction. One the students speech, the command was used to express common command with the function to command and ask explanation to other students. The choice of the strategy was related to the function of speech shared. Relating to this command, direct and indirect strategy can be used to express certain intention. EFFECT OF USING THINK-PAIR-SHARE TECHNIQUE ON SPEAKING SKILL AND MOTIVATION TO LEARN ENGLISH OF GRADE XI STUDENTS AT SMA NEGERI 5 PALU
Penelitian in bertujuan untuk mengukur pengaruh penggunaan teknik Berfikir-Berpasangan-Berbagi terhadap keterampilan berbicara dan motivasi belajar bahasa Inggris kelas XI siswa SMA Negeri 5 Palu. Metodenya adalah penelitian quasy experimental dengan rancangan non-equivalent kontrol grup desain. Sample penelitian dipilih secara purposive, di mana peneliti secara sengaja memilih kelas XI IPA 1 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas XI IPA 2 sebagai kelas kontrol. Instrumen pengumpulan data menggunakan tes untuk mengukur kemampuan siswa berbicara dan kuisioner untuk mengukur motivasi siswa. Pengumpulan data menggunakan metode deskriptif dan statistik uji-t. Data yang diperoleh melalui tes dianalisis dan diuji statistik melalui SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) 15.0. Berdasarkan analisis data dari kemampuan siswa berbicara dan motivasi siswa. Ditemukan bahwa nilai rata-rata dari keterampilan berbicara kelas eksperimen (73.50) lebih besar dari kelas kontrol (68). Hasil perbandingan melalui uji-t menunjukkan nilai thitung = 3.355 > nilai ttable = 2.002. Selanjutnya, untuk motivasi siswa, nilai rata-rata kelompok eksperimen adalah 42 dan kelas kontrol adalah 39.37. Hasil perbandingan motivasi siswa melalui uji-t menunjukkan nilai thitung = 2.362 > nilai ttable = 2.002. Sehingga, Ha diterima dan H0 ditolak. Dengan kata lain, penggunaan teknik berfikir-berpasangan-berbagi dapat mempengaruhi kemampuan siswa berbicara dan motivasi siswa. PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN MENULIS TEKS EKSPOSISI MELALUI MODEL ASSURE PADA SISWA KELAS XB SMAS GKST PALU
This research have the purpose to improve ability and to explain the improvement of students study result at the tenth B grade students of SMAS GKST Palu used assure model. This research was classroom action research with the subject of the research was tenth B grade students of SMAS GKST Palu. This research have done in the two cycles, each of cycle used assure model. Result of this research showed that the using of assure model in writing exposition text. It seen at the improvement of the students ability in each cycle. Based on the assesment result of each action, it was obtained the average score of cycle I, there was the average score of students writing ability 72 (low) with the percentage of classical study completeness 58%, whereas at the cycle II, the average score of students writing ability 84 (High) with the percentage of classical study completeness 89%. This result showed that the using of assure model in writing exposition text was succes and have and it can improve writing ability at the tenth B grade students of SMAS GKST Palu
