Get PDFApparitions of the Divine as some sort of manifestation of the Sacred are rather interesting for phenomenology of religion. Such apparitions of the Mother of God as those taking place in Europe of the 20th and of the beginning of the 21st century are typical just for the Christian West. All the apparitions being a call for penance can be qualified as the apocalyptic ones for those are concerned with the prophecies about the future of Europe and of the world on the whole. Why apparitions of the Mother of God deal with the global issues only in the West? Why their symbolism is extraneous for Eastern Christians? The clue is the antithesis of the East and the West which in the process of phenomenological analysis shows its true and deep meaning as the archetypal versus the symbolical, the sacred versus the prophane, the introversive versus the extroversive, the apophatic and the kataphatic, transcendence and immanence, Resurrection and Incarnation and, finely, the supra-mundane and history. The West today experiences a deep spiritual crisis being a sign of a complete lost of the archetypal religiosity. The Western world is unable to change the situation. Obviously, that is why the Mother of God calls Russia to share its archetypal spiritual treasure and to save the European civilization in such a manner. The unification of the archetypal East and the symbolic West is the main purpose for the Western ecumenism. The mentioned unification, however, is possible only when Russia itself goes through the process of spiritual restoration.
Богоявления, как своего рода манифестации сакрального, вызывают особый интерес у феноменологов религии. Явления Богоматери в Европе 20 – начала 21 века – уникальный религиозный феномен, характерный сугубо для христианского запада. Почти все явления окрашены апокалиптически, т.к. являются призывом обратиться и сопряжены с пророчествами о судьбах Европы и мира в целом. Почему явления имеют глобальный контекст только на христианском западе? С чем связана их чуждая христианскому востоку символика? Ключ к разгадке стоит искать в антитезе восток-запад, которая в процессе феноменологического анализа раскрывает свой глубинный смысл как архетипическое-символическое, сакральное-профанное, интравертное-экстравертное, апофатическое-катафатическое, трансцендентное-имманентное, воскресение-воплощение, вневременное-событийное. Христианский запад переживает серьезный кризис, который, очевидно, ведет к самоуничтожению погрязшей в профанном западной цивилизации. Цель явлений Богоматери – предупредить и, возможно, предотвратить ее крах. Западный мир в силу своего исторического и экстравертного мышления потерял архетипическую суть христианства и не может своими силами восстать из праха. Богоматерь призывает Россию, этот кладезь архетипической духовной сути, спасти свою погибающую сестру, европейскую цивилизацию. Воссоединение запада и востока, т.е. архетипеского и символического, является сутью нам непонятного западного экуменизма. Однако же этот жизненно важный процесс должен начаться с возрождения России, за который особенно ратует Фатимская Богоматерь

Get PDFTo figure out whether the main empirical question "Is our brain hardwired to believe in and produce God, or is our brain hardwired to perceive and experience God?" is answered, this paper presents systematic critical review of the positions, arguments and controversies of each side of the neuroscientific–theological debate and puts forward an integral view where the human is seen as a psycho-somatic entity consisting of the multiple levels and dimensions of human existence (physical, biological, psychological, and spiritual reality), allowing consciousness/ mind/spirit and brain/body/matter to be seen as different sides of the same phenomenon, neither reducible to each other. The emergence of a form of causation distinctive from physics where mental/conscious agency (a) is neither identical with nor reducible to brain processes and (b) does exert ‘‘downward’’ causal influence on brain plasticity and the various levels of brain functioning is discussed. This manuscript also discusses the role of cognitive processes in religious experience and outlines what can neuroscience offer for study of religious experience and what is the significance of this study for neuroscience, clinicians, theology and philosophy. A methodological shift from "explanation" to "description" of religious experience is suggested. This paper contributes to the ongoing discussion between theologians, cognitive psychologists and neuroscientists

Get PDFThe Article deals with the role of Biblical person names in The Book of Lamentations by Grigor
Narekatsi (1001-1003) in the poetical context, distinguishing two main functions of their use as the text
elements: first – the referential or relational function; second – the poetically – esthetical function.
Although Biblical person names comprise a numerically small lexical part of Lamentations, they
function as important and considerable structural elements of the text which play an important role in
the author’s system of the religious ethical categories of sinfulness. The Biblical person names are
obliged to bring about connotations of behavior and choices of the particular person, and, being
included in similes, metaphors and figures of recitations, they enhance the power of expression and
figurativeness of the text.
The concluding part of the article illustrates the use of theonyms (name of god) Beliar and Ball in
different contexts of Lamentations and shows the transformation of the semantics of the person names.
Thus the insight in the theological and poetical system of conceptions of Grigor Narekatsi is given
