Prophetic Leadership in Forming the Religious Moderation Values in Islamic Education Institutions
This article depicts the prophetic leadership in instilling the values of moderation in Islamic educational institutions. The enactment of prophetic leadership at Tebuireng and Mambaul Ma'arif Islamic boarding schools in Denanyar reflect various understandings and daily activities. It entails a formal situation as seen in educational institutions and non-formal activities as imposed Islamic boarding schools environment. Thus, it instills the values of religious moderation. This research investigates how the behavior of prophetic leadership instills the values of religious moderation in both Islamic boarding schools. The method used in this research was field research with a qualitative approach designed. It was through a multi-site study with interactive analysis. Therefore, the data obtained was comprehensive. This research found that both Islamic boarding schools view that prophetic behavior leadership was based on the values of faith and piety in every activity, and wise in making decisions, oriented to the interests of the community without gaps, courage in change, responsible to the task, put forward morality, diversity of ideas, being humanist, tolerant instead of different religious status and establishing ukhuwah Islamiyah. Those attitudes are always instilled in the students and the Islamic boarding school community. Artikel ini menjelaskankan tentang kepemimpinan profetik dalam menanamkan nilai-nilai moderasi di lembaga pendidikan Islam. Kepemimpinan profetik yang dijalankan baik di Pesantren Tebuireng maupun Mambaul Ma’arif Denanyar, mencerminkan berbagai pemahaman dan kegiatan dalam kesaharian baik melalui kegiatan formal di lembaga pendidikan maupun non formal lingkungan pesantren sehingga dapat menanamkan nilai-nilai moderasi beragama. Adapun rumusan dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana perilaku kepemimpinan profetik dalam menanamkan nilai-nilain moderasi beragama pada kedua pondok pesantren. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah field reserch dengan pendekatan kualitatif yang dirancang melalui studi multisitus dengan analisis interaktif sehingga data yang diperoleh sangat luas. Hasil penelitinan di kedua pesantren sama-sama berpandangan bahwa perilaku kepemimpinan profetik yang dijalankan berlandaskan nilai iman dan taqwa dalam setiap aktivitas, arif dan bijaksana dalam mengambil keputusan, brorientasi pada kepentingan masyarakat tanpa kesenjangan, keberanian dalam perubahan, amanah atas tugas, mengedepankan akhlaqul karimah, keberagaman ide, bersikap peduli humanis, toleran tanpa status keagamaan dan menjalin ukhuwah Islamiyah sebagai sikap yang selalu ditanamkan kepada para santri dan masyarakat pesantren
The Effect of Students’ Perception on Educational Tourism and Self-Fulfilment
Abstract: Educational tourism can be built as a bridge between society and the Islamic Boarding School. It’s also can improve a new entrepreneurship model in Islamic Boarding School. The study used a quantitative approach. The population was about 387 students who were involved as a population in the study. But only 196 people as a sample. The sampling technique is simple random sampling. The data collection technique was the psychology scale””data analysis technique with a Pearson correlation statistical model. This study found that: (1) the distribution of mean and percentage of educational tourism perception had not been developed or low; (2) the distribution of min and portion of self-fulfillment of students was high; (3) there was an effect between students' perception about education tourism and their self-fulfillment. Abstrak: Wisata edukasi dapat menjadi jembatan antara masyarakat dan pondok pesantren yang tidak mengetahui tentang pondok pesantren. Pengembangan pariwisata pesantren memberi ruang terbentuknya kewirausahaan baru di pesantren. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Populasi sebanyak 387 siswa yang dilibatkan sebagai populasi dalam penelitian. Tapi hanya 196 orang sebagai sampel. Teknik pengambilan sampel dengan simple random sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan skala psikologi. Teknik analisis data dengan model statistik regresi sederhana. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan: (1) sebaran rerata dan persentase persepsi tentang wisata pendidikan belum berkembang atau rendah. (2) sebaran min dan persentase pemenuhan diri siswa tinggi. (3) ada pengaruh antara persepsi siswa tentang wisata pendidikan dengan kemandirian santri
The Strategy of Developing Multicultural Education
This article aims to develop a multicultural education strategy in Islamic education. It accommodates the urgency of contemporary needs. It plays a vital role in Islam rahmatan lil 'alamin. In addition, it describes Islamic educators' interpretation transformation using a creative, inclusive, relevant multicultural approach in teaching-learning. This research employed qualitative research. The data were collected through some literature, such as books, articles, and publications. The findings found that the teachers should be equipped with some competencies and skills. They include understanding yourself, developing intercultural/competence, becoming empathic, understanding immediacy, adopting an integrated approach to instruction dan using nondiscriminatory assessment strategies. Developing a multicultural strategy is a step ahead to take Islamic educators' attention. They are also involved in initiating to prevent extremism and strengthen religious moderation. Artikel ini adalah sebuah diskursus pengembangan strategi pendidikan multikultural yang bertujuan menawarkan kepada pendidik agama Islam merespon positif melangkah dan mengakomodasi urgenitas kebutuhan kekinian untuk berperan penting pada sebuah agama yang rahmatan lil ”˜alamin. Tulisan ini ingin melihat transformasi interpretasi pelaku pendidik agama Islam dengan pendekatan multikultural yang kreatif, inklusif, relevan dalam pembelajaran dan pengajaran yang bermakna. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif, sedang pengumpulan data dihimpun melalui studi kepustakaan berupa buku-buku, artikel. dan publikasi. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan unsur kompetensi dasar dalam pengembangan penguasaan understanding yourself, developing intercultural/competence, becoming empathic, understanding immediacy, adopting an integrated approach to instruction dan using nondiscriminatory assessment strategies. Pengembangan strategi multikultural ini menjadi pilihan satu langkah maju merangkak untuk mengetuk hati pendidik agama Islam lebih peduli dan terlibat dalam inisiatif pencegahan ekstremisme dan penguatan moderasi beragama
Dimensions of Transformational Leadership Headmaster
Leadership has a decisive position in the organization. Leaders who carry out their leadership effectively can lead others to achieve the goals; on the contrary, leaders as figures have no influence. Their leadership promotes weak organizational performance, which turns it into a downturn. This study aims to examine the dimensions of the principal's transformational leadership and its urgency for reform. By employing the literature study method, this study depicted that to run the principal's transformational leadership smoothly; they must apply all dimensions of idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individual consideration. Suppose the principal can apply the 4I dimensions of transformational leadership. In that case, as a leader of educational institutions, the principal succeeds in bringing changes to educational organizations for the better. Kepemimpinan memiliki kedudukan yang menentukan dalam organisasi. Pemimpin yang melaksanakan kepemimpinannya secara efektif dapat menggerakkan orang/personel ke arah tujuan yang dicita-citakan, sebaliknya pemimpin yang keberadaannya hanya sebagai figur, tidak memiliki pengaruh, kepemimpinannya dapat mengakibatkan lemahnya kinerja organisasi, yang pada akhirnya dapat menciptakan keterpurukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menelaah dimensi kepemimpinan transformasional kepala sekolah dan urgensinya terhadap pembaharuan. Dengan metode studi pustaka dapat dipaparkan bahwa agar kepemimpinan kepala sekolah dapat berjalan lancar, kepala sekolah harus mampu menerapkan seluruh dimensi idealiced influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation dan individual consideration. Apabila kepala sekolah mampu menerapkan dimensi 4I kepemimpinan transformasional tersebut, maka kepala sekolah sebagai pemimpin lembaga pendidikan akan berhasil membawa perubahan pada organisasi pendidikan ke arah lebih baik
The Development of Islamic Community Participation for Education Services in The Underdeveloped Regions
Abstract: Disparity of regional development has taken place everywhere. This study aimed to analyze underdeveloped regions and the development participation of the Islamic community for education services in the areas. This research was conducted in Pati Regency, employing a descriptive-quantitative approach. The data consisted of primary and secondary ones. It used descriptive analysis. The results showed that under-developed regions were located in the border regions (Sukolilo, Tlogowungu, and Jaken). Islamic society had significant roles in education services. Islamic civilization had essential functions for elementary school services with a participation rate of 30.9% in Sukolilo, 33.33% in Togowungu, and 13.33% in Jaken. Islamic society had greater junior high school services with a participation rate of 58.33% in Sukolilo, 83,33% in Tlogowungu, and 40% in Jaken. Islamic civilization has dominant secondary education services with a participation rate of 100 % in Sukolilo, 80% in Tlogowungu, and 100% in Jaken. Abstrak: Kesenjangan pembangunan antar kawasan terjadi di berbagai tempat. Studi ini memiliki tujuan menganalisa pembangunan kawasan tertinggal dan partisipasi masyarakat Islam dalam pelayanan pendidikan di kawasan tersebut. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kabupaten Pati. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif-kuantitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan data primer dan data sekunder. Teknik analisa data menggunakan analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kawasan tertinggal berada di kawasan pinggiran (Sukolilo, Tlogowungu dan Jaken). Masyarakat Islam memiliki peran besar dalam pelayanan pendidikan di kawasan tertinggal. Masyarakat Islam memiliki peran dalam pelayanan SD/MI dengan tingkat partisipasi 30,9 % di Sukolilo, 33,33% di Tlogowungu dan 13, 33% di Jaken. Masyarakat Islam memiliki peran lebih besar dalam pelayanan SMP/MTs dengan tingkat partisipasi 58,33% di Sukolilo, 83, 33% di Tlogowungu dan 40 % di Jaken. Masyarakat Islam memiliki peran dominan dalam pelayanan pendidikan menengah dengan tingkat partisipasi 100 % di Sukolilo, 80 % di Tlogowungu dan 100% di Jaken
Islamic Education Thought of Sheikh Nawawi Al-Bantani: The Disaster in The Qur’an
Abstract: Nawawi is a true teacher in Islamic science and very prolific in writing Islamic science. The purposes of this study are (1) to find out the characteristics of the plague in Nawawi’s thinking; (2) to propose the solution to the Covid-19 outbreak from the perspective of Islamic education; (3) to figure out the Islamic education from this pandemic. This study employed qualitative research from an Islamic education philosophy perspective. The data collection was documentation. It also used content analysis, thematic, and inductive-deductive approaches. There are some findings in this research. First, the words calamity, Bala, and slander, the pandemic, is a test. It happened as a result of the power of God and the work of man. The purpose is for man to be closer to God, more meaningful to God’s presence, erode pride, etc. Second, it is not permissible to approach the place of plague. If it is at the epidemic site, then do not come out of it; the sick do not mix with the healthy, avoid harming themselves and others, and put the damage off rather than benefit. Third, the values of Islamic education are spiritual, intellectual, social, and skill. Abstrak: Nawawi adalah mahaguru sejati dalam keilmuan Islam dan sangat produktif menulis bidang keilmuan Islam. Tulisan ini menjawab (1) karakteristik wabah dalam pemikiran Nawawi; (2) solusi dari wabah Covid-19 dalam perspektif pendidikan Islam; (3) nilai-nilai pendidikan Islam yang diperoleh dari pandemi ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan filsafat pendidikan Islam. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan dokumentasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis isi, tematik, dan pola pikir induktif-deduktif. Hasil temuan dalam penelitian ini adalah pertama, merujuk kepada kata musibah, bala, dan fitnah, pandemi merupakan ujian. Hal itu terjadi sebagai akibat kuasa Allah dan ulah manusia. Tujuannya agar manusia lebih dekat kepada Allah, lebih bermakna kehadiran Tuhan, mengikis kesombongan, dan lain-lain. Kedua, tidak boleh mendekati tempat wabah dan jika berada di lokasi wabah, maka jangan keluar darinya, yang sakit jangan bercampur dengan yang sehat, menghindari mudarat terhadap diri sendiri dan orang lain, dan mendahulukan menutup kemudaratan daripada mengambil manfaat. Gender Equality in Islamic Religious Education
Abstract: This research is remarkable to conduct research dealing with its impact on the senior high school students’ achievement. The design of the research was a phenomenological qualitative approach. It was applied by using purposive sampling in Kudus Regency. The findings showed that (1) Islamic Religious Education placed men and women equally in the teaching and learning process. However, the difference in learning material is based on the essence of the source of Islamic law of Al-Quran and Hadith; (2) There are several learning models applied, directed free learning strategies which stimulate students for behaving and acting according to normative-rational and religious considerations and resulting in learning changes in thinking, behaving and acting according to individual ratio considerations; (3) The impact of the Islamic Religious Education learning model on understanding gender equality is that the presence of a normative-religious, normative-rational understanding, as well as a rational understanding of gender issues. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kesetaraan gender terhadap prestasi belajar peserta didik di Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA). Penelitian ini mengambil lokasi di Kabupaten Kudus (berdasarkan purposive sampling) dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif fenomenologis. Dari hasil analisis data penelitian ditemukan, pertama: Pembelajaran PAI dilaksanakan dengan tanpa membedakan gender peserta didik. Perbedaan materi pembelajaran didasarkan pada esensi sumber hukum Islam al-Quran dan Hadits. Kedua, terdapat beberapa model pembelajaran yang diterapkan, yaitu dengan menggunakan strategi pembelajaran bebas terarah yang merangsang siswa untuk berperilaku dan bertindak sesuai pertimbangan normatif-rasional dan religius sehingga mengakibatkan perubahan sikap peserta didik dalam berpikir, berperilaku dan bertindak sesuai dengan pertimbangan rasio individu. Ketiga, ada beberapa dampak model pembelajaran PAI terhadap pemahaman kesetaraan gender, di antaranya: model pertama, peserta didik memiliki pemahaman secara normatif-religius; model kedua, peserta didik memiliki pemahaman tentang gender secara normatif-rasional; dan model pembelajaran ketiga, peserta didik memiliki pemahaman permasalahan gender secara rasional
Paradigm of H.A.R Tilaar Thinking About Multicultural Education in Islamic Pedagogy and Its Implication in the Era Pandemic Covid-19
This research investigates the importance of pedagogical-based multicultural education in social life, particularly in Islam. A multicultural study is not a new thing, but it has limited implementation. Based on the theory of H.A.R Tilaar about multicultural education, it has inherently existed since this Indonesian nation existed. The state philosophy of the Republic of Indonesia is unity in diversity (Bhinneka Tunggal Ika), cooperation helping each other, and respect one another. It can be seen from the chronological portrait of this nation that there are various foreign tribes and continues to acculturate with the indigenous people. Multicultural education gives hope in dealing with various turmoil which happened recently. This study employed qualitative research. The analysis method and the source were taken from the literature study. Thus, the research sources were taken from literature by using a qualitative approach. Hence, the researcher explored the number of data, both primary and secondary data. They used concrete steps, such as reading and examining the primary data in-depth, such as research results, journals, thesis, or dissertations related to multicultural and Islamic education. Consequently, multicultural education is a necessity in educational institutions. Penelitian ini mengkaji pentingnya pendidikan multikultural yang berbasis pada pedagogik dalam kehidupan sosial khususnya dalam Islam. Kajian multikultural bukan sesuatu yang baru, namun implementasinya dapat dihitung waktunya. Dalam pemikiran H.A.R Tilaar tentang pendidikan multikultural secara inhern sudah ada sejak bangsa Indonesia ini ada. Falsafah bangsa Indonesia adalah bhineka tunggal ika, suka gotong royong, membantu, dan menghargai antar satu dengan yang lainnya. Betapa dapat dilihat dalam potret kronologis bangsa ini yang sarat dengan masuknya berbagai suku bangsa asing dan terus berakulturasi dengan masyarakat pribumi. pendidikan multikultural memberikan secercah harapan dalam mengatasi berbagai gejolak masyarakat yang terjadi akhir-akhir ini. Pendidikan multikultural adalah pendidikan yang senantiasa menjunjung tinggi nilai-nilai, keyakinan, heterogenitas, pluralitas dan keragaman, apapun aspeknya dalam masyarakat. Dengan demikian, pendidikan multikultural yang tidak menjadikan semua manusia sebagai manusia yang bermodel sama, berkepribadian sama, berintelektual sama, atau bahkan berkepercayaan yang sama pula. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif yang dimana cara menganalisis dan mengambil sumber melalui studi pustaka. Dalam artian yaitu penelitian yang bersumber dari bahan-bahan kepustakaan dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Oleh karena itu, yang dilakukan adalah eksplorasi terhadap sejumlah data baik itu data primer maupun data sekunder dengan langkah konkret sebagai berikut: membaca serta menelaah secara mendalam data primer seperti buku yang merupakan hasil penelitian, Jurnal, tesis maupun disertasi yang terkait dengan pendidikan multikultural dan pendidikan Islam. DIALECTICS OF PESANTREN AND SOCIAL COMMUNITIES IN CULTURAL VALUE TRANSFORMATION
Abstract: Pesantren tends to have an adaptive response towards social changes in community life. This research employed a qualitative approach by using a case study to discern the adaptive strategy of an Islamic boarding school. Then, the data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentaries. Next, they were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, namely data collection, condensation, data display, and conclusions drawing simultaneously. Finally, the validity of the data was gained through triangulation. The study results showed that pesantren has actively adapted themselves towards these social demands. Furthermore, it shows that 1) the dialectics of pesantren and social community in transforming cultural values through formal education was done by establishing several formal educations; 2) the dialectics of pesantren and social community in transforming cultural values through non-formal education was done by establishing several non-formal religious-based institutions through pesantren activities. Abstrak: Pesantren dalam kehidupan masyarakat memiliki sikap adaptif terhadap perubahan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif adapun jenis penelitian studi kasus. Penggalian sumber data menggunakan Observasi, wawancara dan dukumenter dan data dianalisi dengan model Miles and Hubermen yaitu pengumpulan data, kondensasi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan yang dilakukan bersama. Kemudian keabsahan data menggunakan Triangulasi. Adapun hasil kajian penelitian yaitu pesantren Raudlatul Ulum memiliki sikap adaptif terhadap perubahan yang tergambar sebagai berikut 1.) Dialektika Pondok Pesantren Raudlatul Ulum dan masyarakat dalam tranformasi nilai budaya melalui Pendidikan formal dengan mendirikan beberapa pendidikan formal. 2) Dialektika Pondok Pesantren Raudlatul Ulum dan masyarakat dalam tranformasi nilai budaya melalui Pendidikan non formal dengan jalan mendirikan beberapa lembaga non formal yang berbasis keagamaan yang teraktualisasikan melalui aktivitas Pondok Pesantren. Merging Religiosity on Social Media: Indonesian Millennial Youth's Understanding of the Concepts of Jihad and Religious Tolerance
This study qualitatively sought to investigate Indonesian millennial youth's understanding of the concepts of jihad and religious tolerance based on what they have learned from social media. Twenty students from a university in Bengkulu, Indonesia, were purposely engaged as the participants. The data were garnered from interviews, documentation, and focus group discussions. After learning Islamic materials through social media, the findings revealed that Indonesian millennial youth tended to interpret various points regarding jihad and religious tolerance using their cognitive sectorial ego. They consumed raw materials with their inability to comprehend those materials. Consequently, they were easily provoked to blame the diverse emerging perspectives in light of resistance to accept other views excluded from the Islamic teachings they watched in social media. This condition inferred that Indonesian millennials' understanding of jihad and religious tolerance as they learned from social media was considered low. Penelitian kualitatif ini berusaha untuk menyelidiki pemahaman pemuda milenial Indonesia tentang konsep jihad dan toleransi beragama berdasarkan apa yang mereka pelajari dari media sosial. Sebanyak 20 mahasiswa perguruan tinggi dari sebuah universitas di Bengkulu, Indonesia, diikutsertakan sebagai partisipan. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, dokumentasi, dan focus group discussion. Temuan mengungkapkan bahwa setelah mempelajari materi agama Islam melalui media sosial, remaja milenial Indonesia cenderung memaknai berbagai hal terkait jihad dan toleransi beragama dengan menggunakan ego sektoral kognitif individu mereka sendiri. Mereka mengkonsumsi materi secara mentah dengan ketidakmampuan mereka untuk memahami materi tersebut. Akibatnya, mereka mudah terprovokasi untuk menyalahkan beragam perspektif yang muncul karena adanya penolakan untuk menerima pandangan, kecuali sejalan dengan ajaran Islam yang mereka tonton di media sosial. Kondisi ini menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman generasi muda Indonesia tentang jihad dan toleransi beragama dari media sosial dinilai masih rendah
