    Academic resilience: the roles of parent support and peer support

    . This study aims to investigate the relationship between parent support, peer support, and academic resilience. This study used a quantitative method with a correlational design. The sample of the study was 165 students, selected using the purposive sampling technique with the criteria: students at least in the seventh semester and currently working on the final paper at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. Peer and parent support was measured using the social support questionnaire developed by the researchers, while academic resilience was measured using The Academic Resilience: Scale-30 (ARS-30). Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression and assisted by the SPSS 25.00 for Windows application. The results of the study showed that most students (52%) had high resilience; 98% of students had a moderate level of parent support; and all students (100%) had a moderate level of peer support. Based on the partial test results, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between parent support and academic resilience, but no relationship between peer support and academic resilience. However, the results of the simultaneous test showed that peer support and parent support are correlated with academic resilience

    The development of an android-based SDQ application as an instrument to detect students’ psychological and behavioral problems

    This study aims to determine the description of needs, produce a prototype, examine the validity, reliability, and practicality of an Android-based SDQ application as an instrument to detect students’ psychological and behavioral problems. This is an R&D study utilizing the Borg and Gall development model. Data was collected through observations, interviews, and questionnaires. Qualitative data was analyzed using content analysis, while quantitative data was analyzed using descriptive analysis. The results of the study showed that: 1) the development of an Android-based SDQ application to detect students’ psychological and behavioral problems is strongly needed by both school counselors and students; 2) the Android-based SDQ application prototype features menu items, school counselor profile, student profile, information on the objectives and advantages of SDQ, filling out SDQ, SDQ results, an application guidebook, SDQ statistical results, and an application management administrator; and 3) the Android-based SDQ application developed has been found to have high levels of validity, reliability, and practicality. Therefore, the Android-based SDQ application is considered a valid and reliable tool to detect students’ psychological and behavioral problems

    The relationship between social adjustment and homesickness among new santri

    This study aims to discover the relationship between social adjustment and homesickness among new santri. The subject of the study was santri in the tenth grade of Madrasah Aliyah As’adiyah Putra Sengkang in Wajo Regency. A total of 62 santri were selected using the simple random sampling technique. The instruments of the study were the homesickness scale and the social adjustment scale developed by the researchers. A correlation test with Kendall's tau-b was implemented to analyze the data. The analysis showed that there was a 0.000 level of significance and a -0.343 correlation coefficient.     Work readiness and life goals among final-year students in Madiun

    This study aims to determine work readiness in terms of life goals owned by final year students in Madiun. This research is a quantitative study with a correlational approach. The population of this study were final year students studying at universities in Madiun City. Sampling using purposive sampling technique with a total of 172 final year students. The scales used were the work readiness scale and the life purpose scale, distributed online via google form. Correlation analysis using spearman's rho. The results of the spearman's rho correlation coefficient in this study showed insignificant results with sig (2-tailed) 0.647> 0.05 with a correlation score of 0.035. It means that the relationship between work readiness and life goals is very weak or insignificant. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is no relationship between work readiness and the life goals of final year students in Madiun. The recommendation of this study is to explore other variables that affect work readiness, such as self-efficacy and optimism with similar subject characteristic

    The differences in career well-being among Indonesian school counselors based on educational qualifications

    This study aims to describe the career well-being of school counselors in Indonesia. This study was conducted quantitatively using a quantitative descriptive analysis. The population of this study was all school counselors in Indonesia. The selection of population was made by the researchers because there is no standard Career well-being Scale in the Indonesian context. The sample consisted of 1,000 school counselors throughout Indonesia, selected using simple random sampling technique. The data was collected using the Career Well-Being Scale based on Coetzee’s theory. The study began with the development of the Career Well-Being Scale, followed by the distribution of the scale through Google Form, data collection, and data analysis. Data analysis was performed using percentage statistical formula. The results showed that the difference in career well-being of school counselors had a Sig value of 0.00. Obtaining a Sig value < 0.05 indicates that there is a significant difference in the career well-being of school counselors with four different educational qualifications. Educational qualifications influence the career well-being of Indonesian school counselors. School counselors with a master’s degree and a PPG certification have higher career well-being than school counselors with a bachelor’s degre

    Choosing the Wrong Major: what is the profile of students who feel they have chosen the wrong major ?

    This study aims to identify the main factors in the selection of majors in college. There were 1283 participants consisting of first, second, and third year students from various universities in Indonesia, both public and private. The research approach was non-experimental quantitative using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results showed that almost 30% of students felt that they chose the wrong major. Those who felt they chose the wrong major had lower knowledge domain (μ = 42.67; t = 20.376, p < 0.05) and help-seeking behavior (μ = 47.89; t = 5.336, p < 0.05) compared to those who felt they chose the right major. Based on the type of university, 274 students from public universities (72.29%) and 105 students from private universities (27.71%). The conclusion was that students who felt they had the wrong major did not have adequate Self Knowledge and Occupational Knowledge. Their need to seek help has not been accompanied by sufficient knowledge about themselves and their intended careers, hence students need to be proactive in gaining knowledge from credible sources.     Entrepreneurial attitude is an attitude instilled in students through learning about entrepreneurship as well as descriptions of personalities through physical movements and thoughts about entrepreneurship. One of the problems among adolescents is having low entrepreneurial attitude, manifested by being pessimistic and unsure about developing their skills, having weak determination to improve their talents, potential, and interests, lacking the desire to work hard and initiatives to develop their skills, having fear of challenges, and avoiding taking risks. This study aims to encourage students to find freedom, to recognize and acknowledge themselves and their current situations objectively and progressively, to guide themselves, to be able to make decisions, and to actualize themselves more properly.     Developing flip chart as career counseling media for college major selection for the students

    The primary issue of this research is the development of career guidance and counseling medium. This research aims at identifying (1) an illustration of necessity level of the development toward the career guidance and counseling flipchart medium in choosing major in university towards students of SMAN 1 Tanggetada. (2) The prototype of career guidance and counseling medium of choosing major in University towards student of SMAN 1 Tanggetada. (3) The validity and the practical media of career Guidance and Counseling medium of flipchart in choosing major in University towards students of SMAN 1 Tanggetada. This research applies researching model of ADDIE which consists of 5 (five) steps of research. The technique of collecting data uses interview and questionnaire. The results shows ; (1) the result of necessity analysis conducted in SMAN 1 Tanggetada shows that the teachers of Guidance and Counseling and the students need career guidance and counseling flipchart medium in choosing major in university; (2) the prototyped career guidance and counseling flipchart medium in choosing major in university consist of Flipchart, Guideline book and material as well as reading script concerning to career; (3) the result of validity and practicable show that career guidance and counseling flipchart medium is valid and practice therefore deserved to be applied in SMAN 1 Tanggetada to help students in choosing major at university

    The efforts of school counselor to change students’ negative perceptions of guidance and counseling program

    This study aims to focus on the implementation of counseling guidance in changing students' negative perceptions of counseling guidance, and knowing the facts about the implementation of counseling guidance. Counseling guidance teachers play an important role in the implementation of counseling guidance in schools, through appropriate implementation in making an improvement, generally these negative perceptions can be changed. where the lack of understanding of the role and duties of counseling guidance in schools triggers negative perceptions of the implementation of counseling guidance. Meanwhile, positive perceptions of students can arise if the counseling guidance teacher carries out the task, the role is in line with the code of ethics, and fulfills individual requirements as a teacher. This research uses a qualitative descriptive analysis method, research data is collected through interviews, observations, documentation, where to create results. better counseling guidance work, through increasing competence, professional improvement of counselors, implementing service innovations, using media supporting counseling guidance services, providing input to teachers and schools related to counseling guidance so that they pay more attention to their performance, counseling guidance programs are created and carried out in line with policy , so that students can understand, understand its existence and no longer have a negative perception of counseling guidance

    The effect of johari window training on self-esteem of the adolescents at aisyiyah orphanage in sidoarjo

    This study is aimed to increase self-esteem of the adolescents at Aisyiyah orphanage in Sidoarjo by using the Johari Window self-awareness training. Quantitative experimental approach was implemented in this study with paired samples T-test for data analysis. Data were collected from three meetings by comparing the pretest and posttest results of self-esteem scale questionnaire.  An improvement in self-esteem was seen on some aspects, which were (1) self-contentment, (2) awareness on one’s strength, (3) feeling of proud and worth, and (4) positive attitude and thinking. This improvement was shown by significant change on adolescents’ self-esteem after they participated in the Johari Window training with a mean difference of 2.200, t-score =-4.147 and p = 0.001 <0.05. Besides, the Cohen's d value, which was 0.757, showed a large effect.
