Quantitative strategy planning matrix in supporting sustainability of pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum) farming
Pearl millet is not only a potential source of income for farmers but can also support the availability of alternative local food in West Sulawesi. As a potential local food, pearl millet contains good nutrition such us anti-oxidant, bioactive compound and fiber. This research is aim to analyze the internal and external factors, IE matrix and then Quantitative Strategy Planning Matrix (QSPM) in order to figure out the priority strategies of pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum) farming. This research was conducted in West Sulawesi by investigating pearl millet farmers in the production center. The strategy that could be applied is how to support an aggressive growth-oriented strategy. The priority strategies to be implemented are 1) procurement of farming equipment to increase production and productivity, 2) maximizing land potential through efficient farming input, 3) supporting farmers to keep trying to grow pearl millet in an effort to produce alternative food, 4) the use of environmentally friendly farming equipment and input technologies to support sustainability, 5) training to the pearl millet farmers on processing and diversification of pearl millet into industrial products, 6) building adequate infrastructure to facilitate distribution and marketing, 7) plotting pearl millet as a potential superior local food in West Sulawesi, 8) facilitating to access to capital by activating rural-based microfinance institutions, 9) increasing the capacity of farmers and village stakeholders through institutional strengthening, counseling and training and 10) introducing pearl millet to the market and consumers as a local food that is rich in fiber and high antioxidants
The nexus between exchange rate fluctuations and macroeconomic variables in Nigeria
TThis study examined the nexus between exchange rate fluctuations and macroeconomic variables in Nigeria using annual time series data spanning from 1986 to 2017. The study employed ECMARDL and granger causality to ascertain both dynamics and directional relationship among the variables under consideration. The results showed that FDI and RGDP had positive significant effect on exchange rate fluctuations, while TOT has a positive insignificant impact on exchange rate fluctuations. Furthermore, CPI, GSPGDP, TFRESV and WCOP had negative significant impact on exchange rate fluctuations. The error correction model coefficient which is -0.704469 means that nearly 70.45 percent of any disequilibrium in exchange rate fluctuation is corrected by the selected variable within one period (one year). The findings further revealed that there is causal relationship between exchange rate and the TOT, FDI, CPI and WCOP. The implication of this is that there are directional and equilibrium relationship between exchange rate fluctuations and macroeconomic variables in Nigeria. The study therefore recommend that Government and policy makers should intensify domestic policies that accommodate or tolerate some level of (mild) inflation in order to encourage producers to expand production of goods and services, also the government should diversify the economy so that whenever there is a shock in the oil price, the shock will be less felt by the economy, and Government consumption expenditure should be carried out in a manner that it will encourage and promote investment, and increase domestic demand
Modeling the effects of health care expenditure and economic growth in Nigeria: An econometric analysis
Literature abounds that labor quality, in the form of human capital, clearly contributes significantly to productivity growth, but very few analysts have been interested to locate potential human capital growth outside education. Such interest will help ascertain the effectiveness of public health expenditure on health and the impact of good health to economic growth in Nigeria. This research empirically attempts to analyze health outcome and economic growth; proxied by life expectancy at birth and gross domestic product per-capita respectively using quantitative analysis. To avoid the possibility of encountering simultaneity error, we use the three stage -least -square (3SLS) regression to estimate the result. The result shows simultaneity between health outcome and economic growth. The results equally show that health expenditure is significant in determining health outcome but has no significant relationship with economic growth. As a recommendation government must increase budgetary allocation to the health sector and effectively monitor its utilization
Effect of capital inflows on financial development in Ghana
The study examines the effect of capital inflows on financial development in Ghana. The study employs the Johansen and Juselius multivariate cointegration approach in analysing the interactions between the variables using annual data spanning 1970 to 2014. The results show foreign direct investment (FDI), external debt, and remittance inflows have significant negative impact on financial development in the long run. Furthermore, there was significant negative relationships between external debt, remittance inflows, and financial development in the short run. However, the relationship between FDI and financial development in the short run was not significant. The study was only limited to Ghana. However, the study will help countries particularly developing countries in analysing inflows of capital and their effect on the development of financial sector for policy purposes. Furthermore, this study provides avenues for policy makers to properly formulate policies containing capital inflows for effective financial sector development. Also, the study will help policy makers in terms of how issues of capital flight must be addressed and how to take pragmatic steps to channel remittances inflows to productive sectors of the economy
Rating of LQ-45 stock index performance credibility in Indonesia Stock Exchange
This study aims to analyze stock performance credibility using the Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM) method, the Arbitrage Pricing Theory (APT) method, the Fama-French Three-Factor Model (FFTFM), and the 2013-2017 LQ-45 Stock Performance rating. The technique used for sampling is purposive sampling. The samples in this study are 23 companies. The results show that the CAPM model is more accurate in stock credibility assessment than the APT model and the FFTFM
Speed strategy of public administration services in fulfilling the basic rights of citizens in rural areas in Indonesia
The main purpose of this research is to examine the speed strategy of public administration services in fulfilling the basic rights of citizens in rural areas in Indonesia. The method in this research is descriptive type with quantitative approach and use explanatory survey. The target of the research was villagers in four districts in Jambi Province. The instrument used to collect the data is by using a structured questionnaire given to the sample respondents. The statistical tool to examine the hypotehsis is by using Partial Least Square (PLS) method with smart-PLS as the software. The study found that the speed strategy of public administration services has a positive and significant influence on fulfilling the basic rights of citizens in rural areas. However, these positive and significant effect towards fulfilling the basic rights of citizens are mediated by public administration services. These suggest that the role of public administration services in rural areas should be transparent, accountable, and it needs to accommodate public participants and public right equally

Financialization, banking concentration and financial inclusion: the reproduction of structural heterogeneity in the financial complexes of Argentina and Mexico
This paper analyzes the behavior and dynamics of the banking sector in underdeveloped economies in times of financialization, using the cases of Argentina and Mexico. We argue that financialization has increased banking concentration and the participation of too big to fail financial institutions in the banking sector of underdeveloped countries. We argue that the banking predominance has not been reflected in an increase in financial inclusion, but has exacerbated social inequalities, reconfiguring what is understood as underdeveloped in the 21st centur
The effect of inflation, US bond yield, and exchange rate on Indonesia bond yield
Indonesia sovereign bonds are investment graded bonds, therefore, it will have global exposure and it will be more interlinked with global market condition. The purpose of this research is to examine the impacts of US bond yield, exchange rate, and inflation on Indonesian bond yield. Our result conclude that based on Vector Error Correction Model there are long run causality from inflation, US 10 year bond yield, and USD/IDR exchange rate to Indonesia 10 year bond yield. There are also short-run causality from inflation and US 10 year bond yield to Indonesia 10 year bond yield. Based on impulse response function, Indonesia 10 year bond yield respond permanently to changes in US 10 year bond yield. Based on Granger causality we also reveal that inflation and US 10 year bond yield can cause Indonesia 10 year bond yield. US 10 year bond yield has a larger impact than inflation when it comes to affecting Indonesia 10 year bond yiel
