    Potensi Konflik Perkawinan Lintas Budaya Perempuan Indonesia dan Laki-Laki Bule

    The intercultural marriages are frequently encountered by many problems and conflicts. One of the causes is the cultural background differences. This kind of marriage occurs between Indonesian women and the foreigner, the mixing between different cultural background, western and eastern culture. This research was aimed at identifying and recognizing the conflict that caused by the intercultural marriages of the Indonesian women and the caucasians. This research is one part of a broader scope of research using a phenomenological approach,in terms of particular symbolic interaction and social construction theory of reality. Methods of data collection include in-depth interviews and observations of seven Indonesian women who married caucasian and domiciled in Jakarta. The results show some dominant conflict-causing differences in cross-cultural marriages between Indonesian women and male caucasians. The differences include language – context differences, communication style, perceptions on family concepts, and perceptions about privacy. In the end, cross-cultural marriage couples find a pattern of settlement in responding the cultural differences they find in everyday life. Over time, sharing the differences that exist together, the Indonesian .Finally, women and foreign husbands reach the a point where they start sharing the same values and worldviews

    Beggar is part of the big city problem in Indonesia. Bukittinggi in West Sumatera was not immune from this problem, especially on the children who become beggar. These beggars have pattern of work that make up the social network. Descriptive qualitative research was employed in this study where it involve the children who become beggars. The aim is to explore the ponomenon and the types of social network among the girls beggar. The data of this reserarch are acquired from the girls who run her live as the beggar who are regularly settled and stay aroud the Jam Gadang clock Tower.  Finally, this research conclude that the shape of a social network that is developed by child gepeng in Bukittinggi are: 1) sosial network based on kinship, 2) social network are formed by social groups in the pattern of vertical relationships, 3) social network are formed in new social groups in order to meet the needs of each

    The purpose of this research is to determine factors that cause Poliandry cases, both lead some people to chooce and facilitate poliandry in Padang Pariaman. Qualitative research  by using normative law or doctrinal law methods was used. data taken from interview to some informants was analyzed thematically based on the indicators of the study. The result of the study showed that some factors may facilitate people to have poliandry. They are the low educational level, the willingness to make the marital commitement, both the view of  figh and positive law. The cases of  Poliandry  especially for write recorded marriage, and divorce are due to the the lack of comprehension on the a marriage legallity and illegallity beside the knowledge limitattion related with the ban in a marriage before a divorce formally or legally approved. It could be considered by the the office of religious court to educate its societies on the effect of Poliandry

    Indonesia is one of disaster-prone countries. The disasters in Indonesia have destructed infra and supra structure that evoked more problems in human life, in example, the problems faced by elderly women. Not feasible residence, poor health service, and not guaranteed well-being are the examples of negative effect of disaster for elderly women. Therefore, elderly women face a dilemmatic situation that disrupts their life. Related to this poor condition post of earthquake in 2009, some tarekhat ulamas in West Sumatera performed a protection act through sumbayang 40 (40 praying). By means of this religious tradition, the elderly women who were disrupted by the earthquake gain protections from this activity such as religious education, economic support, psychological recovery, and settlement protection. As the result, the elderly women who followed this tradition obtained a well-being guarantee in the post disaster phase. Consequently, direct or indirect, sumbayang 40 tradition that is established in Minangkabau, contributes in achieving the goal of Millennium Development Goals (MGDs) program and improving life quality of elderly women

    The aim of the study is to identify how women makes discourse about working mom vs fulltime mothers in online media particularly Kompasiana. It is also to determine at the discourse of working mothers versus house wife which raised by women in a virtual world based on the experience of being a mother. This research applied Theo Van Leeuwen discourse analysis which reviewed the text from the perspective of how a social actor enclosure or inclosure from a text or news.  It reveals that there are some strategies used by the media or the author in generating or eliminating social actors from a text. The result also showed that women was make discourse about working mom vs fulltime mothers through a series of narratives about the advantages and disadvantages of each profession (working mother and fulltime mothers). Discourse raised by the authors who are working mother (mother works from outside the home or mothers working from home). Most authors make discourse about how fellow mothers should not blame the decisions they make in choosing a profession

    One form of marriage that is not justified in view of Islamic law is a marriage that is conducted secretly (sir) or in this case called by Siri marriage. The marriage is not considered perfect, when it has not been published and equipped with the testament. The marriage that has been overshadowed by the elements or attempt to conceal, classified in prohibited marriage. In order not to fall into this category, then the solution is to announce. Qualitative approach was used where the data collected from Ungku and some people in Nagari Kurai Taji Pariaman. This descriptive research was analyzed using a normative-juridical-socio approach. The study found that there was clear goal to realize an ideal household life and have the force of law. But a legal guarantee by the state through the legal framework was not implemented in Nagari Kurai Taji Pariaman, West Sumatra. The study also discovered that the groom and bride were married Siri by the religious leaders (Ungku) from local society; not by Qadhi as the authorities designated by law

    PRT (housemaid) is a group of professional maids who exits with large number. Meanwhile, they sometimes were treated unfair by their households. The role of a PRT in the household becomes very important, when the family began to shift from domestic functions to public functions. The current condition shows that in the development process, poor women have disadvantage both economically and socially. They were trapped in a process that tends to be marginalized, co-opt and exploited them. In the relationship with self-acceptance PRT in undergoing work, they still looked down on this profession (PRT job is considered low because of work-related domestic/household), as well as someone who is considered abnormal conditions in the community. In other words, someone is considered 'abnormal' in the community can accept ourselves fully without feeling embarrassed with the environment, even though the get a lot of opposition from the neighborhood where it is located
