THE IMPACT OF TAPIOCA IMPORT ON CASSAVA PRICES IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF TAPIOCA INDUSTRY IN INDONESIA
Indonesian governments needed to import tapioca because Indonesia’s tapioca production was unable to meet the high domestic demand. The presence of imported tapioca made it hard for the local tapioca industry to compete. In the development of the tapioca industry, cassava price holds an important role as it is the main component in tapioca production. It is also an important element in determining cassava farmers’ income. This study aimed to analyze the impact of tapioca import policy on Indonesia’s cassava price determination and to formulate a proposal of tapioca industry development involving cassava prices. The Error Correction Model was used in this study with monthly time series data collected from January 2011 until December 2016. Results showed that the import of tapioca does not affect Indonesia’s cassava price either in the short-term or long-term. However, the price and value of imported tapioca affected Indonesia’s cassava prices. The government has to keep cassava prices low to boost tapioca industry growth. In order to keep getting a high income when the prices are low, cassava farmers need to increase their cassava production and productivity, which can be achieved through extensification and intensification programs.

Perceived Risk Analysis of and Willingness to Buy Food Nanotechnology
A number of studies stated that nanotechnology is predicted to encourage the third wave of research diffusion, development, and advancement in agricultural and food sectors, as an integrated part of the nanotechnology revolution in various fields. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of nanotechnology knowledge, trust, and communication media on perceived risk and willingness to buy food nanotechnology. The data came from an online questionnaire with 302 people collected by an online survey, and the research used a purposive sampling method, and structural equation modeling was used for data analysis. Based on the result of the research on three variables (nanotechnology knowledge, trust, and communication media), it is known that communication media and trust had significant effects on risk perception; however, nanotechnology knowledge had no significant effect. Furthermore, perceived risk had a significant effect on willingness to buy food nanotechnology. The sequence from the largest to the smallest of willingness to buy is functional food with a health benefit, food packaging, and food additive to improved product quality. Functional food has been chosen because there is an additional health benefit they will get. Meanwhile, food packaging was considered less risky as it did not directly contact with the product and was not digested by the body. Food additives to improve product quality was the lowest since the respondents felt they did not get any benefits from the application
Performance Evaluation of BUMN Perkebunan After Restructuring
SOE’s (BUMN) restructuring is one of the government\u27s efforts to improve the performance and competitiveness of companies. However, this doesn’t necessarily occur due to differences in the challenges of change in each SOE. Therefore, to understand the impact of restructuring research on the performance evaluation of BUMN Perkebunan is needed. Data collection was carried out in May-November 2017 at Holding Perkebunan Office, Jakarta. The data used is secondary data in the form of company financial statements for the period 2012-2016. The data was processed by EVA methods to determine the economic value added to the company. The results showed that the highest and the only positive EVA was achieved before the restructuring, namely in 2012. After that, the EVA continued to decline and was at its lowest point in the third year after restructuring, namely in 2016. This decrease occurred due to the influence of components that support EVA, such as corporate income and expenditure, beta (ß), return market (rm), risk-free (rf), and the capital structure. To increase the EVA, the company has to make improvements by increasing the income, reducing the expenditure, reviewing the interest rate (rf), and keeping the proportion of capital structure. Keywords: Restructuring, BUMN Perkebunan, Performance Evaluation, EV
Efficiency of Pangasius Production in Kota Gajah Subdistrict
The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors that influenced Pangasius production, analyze the economic scale of Pangasius culture business, and analyze the economic efficiency of Pangasius culture business using local feed in the Kota Gajah Subdistrict. The research location is determined intentionally (purposive). The number of samples taken was 41 people. The results showed that: (a) Significant factors affecting Pangasius production in the study area were pool area, initial manufacturer\u27s feed (P1), advanced manufacturer\u27s feed P2, advanced P3 feed, salted fish as local feed ingredients, and fine bran as local feed ingredients, while the number of seeds and non-permanent labor did not significantly influence the production of Pangasius. The business of Pangasius culture in the research area is not yet efficient, both technically and economically. (b) The value of the production elasticity of Pangasius culture in the study area is 1.151, which means the Production Elasticity (EP) is >1, meaning that the economic scale of production of Pangasius culture business is in the condition of increasing return to scale, specifically, the addition of production factors will cause additional output with a larger amount. (c) The use of production factors such as the area of ponds, seeds, factory feed 1, factory feed 2, and factory feed 3 is still possible to be increased so that the profits derived by Pangasius culture business in the study area are optimal. On the other hand, the salted fish variables, fine bran, and labor are not efficient, so the use of these factors of production must be reduced. Keywords: Pangasius, efficiency, production, economical, technical, and local fee
Indonesian Palm Oil in The World Vegetable Oil Market in the Period Of 2004-2017: Leader Or Follower?
This research specifically analyzed the market integration and transmission of Indonesian palm oil prices in the world vegetable oil market. The analysis using the Threshold Vector Error Correction Model approach was based on time series on the palm oil, soybean oil, rapeseed oil and sunflower oil prices for the period of January 2004 to June 2017. The findings proved the existence of market integration and transmission of asymmetric prices marked by price increases transmitted more quickly among the vegetable oil markets in the long run. The main findings of this research indicated that there was an intense competition between the vegetable oil market and the price of Indonesian palm oil which still followed the rising price of Malaysian palm oil, soybean oil, and rapeseed oil prices, but it was still the leader in the movement of sunflower oil prices. However, the long-term period of soybean oil prices followed a decline in the price of Indonesian palm oil. The results of this research imply that Indonesian palm oil has the opportunity to strengthen its position in the world vegetable oil market by developing futures exchanges that are supported by the adequate physical trading market infrastructure so that it can become the center of formation and reference for world palm oil prices
THE EFFECT OF ADOPTION OF INNOVATION ON THE PERFORMANCE OF MICRO AND SMALL ENTREPRISES OF DRIED FISH PROCESSING IN BENGKULU CITY
This research aimed to analyze the influence of the characteristics of innovation, internal and external factors to the adoption of innovation and analyze the influence adoption of innovation on the performance of small micro enterprises (MSEs) processing of dried fish in the city of Bengkulu. The influence of the adoption of innovation and the factors that influence the performance of the analysis was done by using SEM (Structural Equation Model). The results showed that the innovation of dried fish processing in Bengkulu City, which is the use of para-para tool and packaging, has the characteristics of relative advantages, compatibility, complexity, trialability, and good observability. Innovation has a low level of complexity by a simpler way of usage than others. Individual characteristics of dried fish artisans have a significant positive effect on the adoption of innovation. The largest contributing variable that reflects individual characteristics is training. The business characteristic variable does not affect the adoption of innovation because of the increasing characteristics of the business requirements, which demands better innovation from the current ones. The environmental drive variable has no significant effect on the adoption of innovation. Although high competition variables reflect environmental variables, competitors from outside the region have their own market share. Government support variables have a significant positive effect on the adoption of innovation. The adoption of innovation has a significant effect on the performance of dried fish processing MSEs in Bengkulu City, where the para-para indicator has bigger contribution than the packaging and the productivity variable has a bigger effect than the sales in reflecting the performance variable of MSE’s dried fish processing in Bengkulu City.

Risk Analysis for Sustainability of Oil Palm Smallholdings
Oil palm plantation is well known as a profitable business. In general, oil palm smallholders have a higher income than farmers of other commodities. However, most smallholdings have land sizes that do not reach the economic scale. Together with the lack of managerial skills, smallholdings are likely to be more vulnerable to production and price fluctuations, which in turn affects their business sustainability. This study was conducted to analyze the possibility and impact of production and price changes to the oil palm smallholdings’ sustainability. Data were collected from 240 schemed and independent smallholders in Asahan, Labuhan Batu, Labuhan Batu Utara and Labuhan Batu Selatan, which were selected with purposive cluster sampling. The production and market risk possibility and impact were measured with Value at Risk Method. The estimations showed that smallholders had a low risk possibility and impact, which partly stemmed from the enormously low threshold of both production and market risks. In fact, on average, smallholders’ productivity is less than 20% of the potentials, and many schemed smallholders receive low prices due to their aged trees. This may be harmful to smallholding sustainability. Since VaR only considers risks from variations of production and price, a low threshold is not considered as a risk for sustainability. Therefore, further studies using different thresholds or approaches are required. From the policy implication point of view, to address such a situation, the Indonesian government needs to improve smallholdings’ productivity and their composition of trees
