TEACHING ENGLISH LANGUAGE TO THE BEGINNERS
his study aims to find out the appropriate method to teach English to the beginners. Also, the finding of this research is for publication in the journal. This study is conducted by using online qualitative survey technique. The subjects of this study were teachers who teach English for beginners in Pontianak and its surrounding. The data were collected by a set of close-ended statements in an online questionnaire and also an online interview. The findings showed that there were various methods that can be applied in teaching English to the beginners, and those methods depend on the students’ learning style. Since students’ learning style are different from one to another, the teachers may use various methods in their classroom. However, even when the methods are various, not every method is effective in teaching English to the beginners. HABITUS KREATIVITAS GAMBAR ILUSTRASI MAHASISWA PGSD
AbstractThe article's background is to dissect the results of the analysis of creativity habitus from drawing illustrations through appropriate theories or concepts. The purpose of writing is to describe the study's results using a grounded theory approach. The type of research used is qualitative research. Data collection techniques were obtained from observation, interviews, and document review. Important features of the grounded theory approach are: a) using theory as an explanation of a phenomenon in the practice of making illustrative images in online learning; b) research questions are directed to explore problems; c) data analysis is carried out in stages through the stages of consulting the concept and design of the work; d) data collection; e) data analysis supported by theoretical reinforcement. The study results show that the habitus process of creativity in making illustration images can be dissected with relevant theories or concepts so that an understanding of work practices in art education for elementary school children is obtained. Tujuan penulisan adalah menguraikan hasil kajian dengan pendekatan grounded theory. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data diperoleh dari proses observasi, wawancara, dan telaah dokumen. Ciri-ciri penting pada pendekatan grounded theory yaitu: a) menggunakan teori sebagai penjelasan tentang suatu fenomena praktik membuat gambar ilustrasi pada pembelajaran daring; b) pertanyaan penelitian diarahkan untuk mengeksplorasi permasalahan; c) analisis data dilakukan secara bertahap melalui tahapan konsultasi konsep dan desain karya; d) pengumpulan data; e) analisis data yang didukung dengan penguatan teoretis. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa proses habitus kreativitas dalam pembuatan gambar ilustrasi dapat dibedah dengan teori-teori atau konsep-konsep yang relevan, sehingga didapati pemahaman praktik berkarya dalam pendidikan seni bagi anak sekolah dasar. This research explores methods for integrating religious values in scouting, focusing on interaction dynamics, challenges, and solutions at SDIT Al-Mumtaz. Using a case study and qualitative methods (Miles, M.B, Huberman, A.M, & Saldana, 2014), it condenses data stages, emphasizing diverse tailored methods aligned with scouting levels, integration goals, and student needs. Collaborative mentor efforts, flexibility, and adaptability are crucial. Intensive participant-facilitator interaction significantly impacts religious character values implementation. Facilitators, as "mothers" and "leaders," act as instructors and role models, fostering two-way communication for skill development and understanding. Challenges include fear management, student understanding variations, designing entertaining and educational scouting activities, social pressure, and differing participant skills. PENGEMBANGAN MEDIA INTERAKTIF MOTION GRAPHIC ANIMATION TERHADAP STANDAR KOMUNIKASI DATA SMK KELAS XI TKJ
Pembelajaran teori yang terkesan membosankan serta siswa yang malas dalam mengikuti proses pembelajaran yang hanya menggunakan buku paket masih menjadi permasalahan yang dihadapi pendidik saat pembelajaran di sekolah, sehingga diperlukan upaya guna meningkatkan pendidikan melalui penciptaan inovasi media interaktif pada pembelajaran. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan menarik minat belajar siswa serta mengetahui kelayakan produk terkait dengan materi Standar Komunikasi Data dengan dilengkapi video berupa animasi motion graphic. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian Research and Development (R&D) dengan model pengembangan ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluate). Untuk mendapat umpan balik pengguna, media interaktif diuji secara individual, pertama dengan 2 ahli media, dimana rata – rata koefisien V adalah 0,88 yang dinilai valid, dan uji reliabilitas ahli materi sebesar 0,876 yang dinilai reliabilitas kuat. Uji coba kedua yaitu kepada 2 ahli materi dengan hasil rata – rata koefisien V adalah 0,93 yang dinilai valid, dan mendapatkan nilai uji reliabilitas sebesar 0,815 yang dinilai reliabilitas kuat. Hasil dari wawancara pertanyaan terbuka mengenai media interaktif motion graphic animation yang mana siswa memberi persepsi positif dan mengakui bahwa penggunaan media interaktif pada materi Standar Komunikasi Data ini dapat memudahkan dalam pemahaman materi karena tampilan dari aplikasi serta video motion graphic menarik. Siswa juga merasa senang setelah menggunakan media interaktif ini untuk belajar materi Standar Komunikasi Data daripada hanya membaca buku paket atau modul. Hasil uji interpretasi yang dilakukan terhadap 5 siswa mendapatkan nilai persentase sebesar 64% yang masuk dalam kategori “Setuju”. MODEL KONSEPTUAL PELATIHAN CEFE BERBASIS PENTAHELIX DALAM MENGELOLA UMKM DI KOTA CIMAHI PROVINSI JAWA BARAT
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memberikan evaluasi yang menggambarkan model konseptual pengajaran CEFE berbasis Pentahelix untuk meningkatkan program pendidikan kewirausahaan. Metodologi penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif, dimana pengumpulan data melibatkan pelaku UMKM, pendamping dan koordinator, serta alat pengumpulan data melalui observasi, dokumentasi, wawancara dan tes. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, disimpulkan bahwa model konsep pelatihan manajemen pelatihan bekerja dengan baik dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan dunia usaha, karena pembahasan berkisar pada fakta bahwa model konsep pelatihan lebih panjang. PENERAPAN METODE MENGAJAR KOLABORASI UNTUK PENINGKATAN KETERAMPILAN MEMBACA BAHASA MANDARIN SISWA PENDIDIKAN DASAR
Collaborative learning is a process whereby learners with varying abilities work together in small groups to achieve a common goal. This approach emphasizes the importance of students working together to construct knowledge and develop concepts to solve problems or tasks assigned by the teacher. This study employed a classroom action research methodology to improve Mandarin reading ability of second-grade students in an elementary school in Banyuwangi Regency. The participants were twenty-three students aged eight years old. The increase in student performance was attributed to the higher intensity of exercises in the second cycle. DEVELOPING STUDENTS' DESCRIPTIVE READING SKILLS AND CRITICAL THINKING THROUGH THE SCAFFOLDING STRATEGY USING GOOGLE WORKSPACE FOR EDUCATION (GWE)
The use of technology remains a need to integrate into the teaching-learning process. Meanwhile, the students are still weak in reading skills with their low critical thinking capacity and engage more activities not being tied and integrated into the learning process at school. The aim of this study was to explain the effectiveness of the scaffolding strategy using GWE on the students’ descriptive reading skills and critical thinking and to inquire about the relationship between those two variables. This study used a quasi-experimental design with two research instruments, namely a standardized descriptive text test sourced from the National Examination from 2005-2019 and a 21-critical thinking questionnaire items that had been validated by the expert. The subjects of this research were the tenth grade of senior high students of an integrated public school in Tana Tidung and were taken randomly to be an experimental class and a control class with 32 students for each of these classes. The results revealed that the implementation of the scaffolding strategy with the use of GWE could develop the students’ descriptive reading skills and critical thinking. Additionally, their descriptive reading skills and Greenstein’s critical thinking across four dimensions, namely: (a) critical thinking, multiple viewpoints; (b) analysing information; (c) using data to develop critical insight; and (d) using data to develop advanced clarification indicated stronger relationship. Thus, the implementation of the scaffolding strategy had to be supported to develop in the teaching learning process and to research in a broader scope for continual development.
EVALUATION OF THE BOOK "UNSKILLED JOBS IN WEST KALIMANTAN" AS AN EXTENSIVE READING MATERIAL FOR TANJUNGPURA UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
The use of books by students needs to be checked and evaluated periodically to see the book's quality. The book "Unskilled Jobs in West Kalimantan" was assessed to catch readers' responses in the context of the physical appearance of the book and its content. The research was carried out by distributing a mixed questionnaire containing book evaluation and understanding of the books read. Based on the research results, readers responded positively to the book's physical aspects, including layout, design, and cover. Apart from that, the assessment of the book's contents in terms of diction also received a positive response. Readers understand the reading in the book more quickly in a short time. This book is designed for intermediate-level readers. It can be concluded that the book Unskilled Jobs in West Kalimantan meets readers' expectations at the intermediate level
UNLOCKING THE POTENTIAL OF PROJECT-BASED LEARNING: ELEVATING WRITING SKILLS IN ISLAMIC SCHOOL JUNIOR HIGH STUDENTS
Project-based learning (PjBL), an innovative teaching approach that emphasizes active, student-centered learning through real-world projects, serves as a cornerstone for educational advancement. However, in the specific context of Islamic schools setting, there exists a recognized need for the improvement of writing skills among first-grade students. This Classroom Action Research (CAR) study, spanning two cycles with a cohort of 15 participants at Mts. Insan Madani, Situbondo, is dedicated to achieving significant advancements in writing skill proficiency through the implementation of PjBL. Findings from the study indicate marked enhancements in creativity, engagement, and collaborative abilities. Concurrently, certain challenges surfaced, particularly in the realms of time management and the necessity for more structured guidance during the initial stages of PjBL implementation. The implications of this research underscore the efficacy of PjBL in enhancing writing skills within an Islamic school setting, emphasizing the potential for the integration of PjBL as an educational approach to nurture essential writing skills. Nevertheless, it is crucial to acknowledge the importance of providing additional support in specific areas. Recommendations for future research encompass expanding the study to different grade levels and incorporating a more extensive participant pool to further validate the findings, thereby offering a comprehensive understanding of the broader impacts of PjBL on writing skill development within Islamic schools
IMPLEMENTASI PEMBERIAN REWARD DAN PUNISHMENT DALAM MENINGKATKAN MOTIVASI BELAJAR SISWA DI SMP NEGERI 40 PALEMBANG
Permasalahan yang jadi fokus dalam penulisan skripsi ini mencakup hal-hal berikut: (1) Bagaimana implementasi pembelajaran dengan menggunakan sistem penghargaan dan hukuman untuk meningkatkan semangat belajar siswa di SMP Negeri 40 Palembang, (2) Langkah-langkah apa yang diambil oleh guru dalam meningkatkan semangat belajar siswa dengan menerapkan sistem penghargaan dan hukuman di SMP Negeri 40 Palembang, (3) Dampak apa yang timbul dari penerapan pembelajaran dengan sistem penghargaan dan hukuman guna meningkatkan semangat belajar di SMP Negeri 40 Palembang. Keuntungan dari penelitian ini terletak pada manfaat yang diperoleh dalam mendapatkan teori baru mengenai peningkatan semangat belajar siswa melalui penerapan sistem penghargaan, yang dapat memperluas pemahaman bagi para pendidik dan dunia pendidikan pada umumnya, baik oleh peneliti sendiri maupun peneliti lainnya. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penulisan skripsi ini meliputi penggunaan angket (kuisioner), observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kesimpulan sebagai berikut: melalui penyebaran kuisioner berisi 30 pertanyaan mengenai penerapan pembelajaran dengan sistem penghargaan, nilai tertinggi terdapat pada pertanyaan nomor 1, dengan 98% responden menyetujui pernyataan dalam kuisioner tersebut. Sementara nilai terendah terdapat pada pertanyaan nomor 6 dan 10, dengan 87% responden yang menyetujui atau mengikuti pernyataan dalam kuisioner. Sedangkan dalam penerapan pembelajaran menggunakan metode hukuman, nilai tertinggi ada pada pertanyaan nomor 4, dengan 89% dari 21 guru yang merespon melakukan hal tersebut untuk menerapkan hukuman kepada siswa. Nilai terendah yang diperoleh adalah 37% pada pertanyaan nomor 10. Upaya yang dilakukan oleh guru dapat dijadikan ukuran terhadap profesionalisme mereka dalam bidang pendidikan. Tingkat tertinggi tercapai pada 90%, yang mengacu pada pernyataan dalam kuisioner nomor 1, 3, dan 5. Sedangkan tingkat terendah terdapat pada pernyataan nomor 9, dengan nilai rata-rata 39% dari total skor yang diperoleh dari setiap pernyataan dalam kuisioner. Hasil observasi yang dilakukan peneliti menunjukkan bahwa baik penerapan reward maupun punishment, baik secara bersama-sama maupun terpisah, memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap semangat belajar siswa di SMP Negeri 40 Palembang
