    Get PDF
Powerpoint slides have become one of the essential teaching  tools in academic  for both  offline and  online modes. It may  play  a  useful  role to facilitate  discussion  and  information exchange.  However,  in  our  teaching  experience,  we find  many students utilizing Powerpoint slides beyond their traditional functions.  Many  students   fully  rely on  the  slides  as  the  main learning   materials   and,  in  some  cases,  substituting  textbooks. This  study  intends  to  understand how  students   interact   with the   learning   materials   presented  on  Powerpoint   slides.  The interaction is measured using  an  eye tracker device called  the Eye  Tribe  Tracker. Thirty  sophomore  and  junior  students  are asked  to participate. They are  instructed to learn  a topic in the subject  of Introduction to Algorithm  and  Programming, a basic course  in the  computer science field. During  the  process,  their fixation points  are  monitored  and  are  related to the contents  on the slides. The results are rather surprising. Many students  read the  slides  in  unexpected  manners that  may  compromise   their understanding and  may lead to inaccurate interpretations

Partial discharge detection by detecting the released energy in form of electromagnetic wave during discharge using Ultra-High Frequency (UHF) antenna is one method to determine insulation system quality in high voltage system. UHF PD detection method has several advantages over conventional PD detection system such as IEC 60270 method. The advantages of UHF PD detection system are the capability to directly detect PD signal without firstly shut down, the installation system and their immunity from environmental noise. Nowadays most of electrical equipment are in form of metal enclosed model. This paper deals with measurement of PD occurrences inside metal enclosed equipment using internal sensor. The loop antenna is used for PD measurement. The experimental results show that the presence of metal box gives significant change on the PD signal detected by using loop antenna. Without metal box, the measurement sensitivity decreases because of the high level of background noise. The metal box acts as electromagnetic wave shielding and reduces the external noise. When the loop antenna placed inside metal box, the measurement sensitivity increases because of the low level of background noise inside metal box

A Study of the Number of Wavelengths Impact in the Optical Burst Switching Core Node

    Get PDF
In Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM), several wavelengths run on an optical fiber link that connects two optical switches. The multiple wavelengths are exploited that minimized the contention problem in the Optical Burst Switching (OBS) core node. Mathematical model is used in order to investigate the impact of the wavelengths numbers OBS core node. Two performance metrics are proposed such as the steady-state throughput and the probability of burst loss using steady- state occupancy probabilities and Poisson traffic model arrivals. Numerical results show that at different values of network traffic and some design parameters such as wavelength conversion capability and the mean arrival rate could reveal the OBS performance

Delay Tolerant Network (DTN) is a network that allows nodes to move dynamically and doesn’t always provide for end-to-end connection. The dynamically of nodes make the movement of the nodes becomes important. The movement model of nodes will record their behavior and this could be utilized to develop a new routing protocol in DTN. One of the DTN routing protocol that utilize it is CSI: T routing. CSI: T routing viewed a node based on their behavioral profile which is represent the mobility preference. Our study is measure the performance of CSI: T in terms of delivery probability, overhead ratio, and average latency by changing the buffer capacity, packet lifetime, and number of nodes. We used Opportunistic Network Environment (ONE) Simulator for the simulate the real-life scenario of a college-routines

Encoding of Passive Anticollision Radio Frequency Identification Surface Acoustic Waves Tags

    Get PDF
This paper describes the encoding of anticollision radio-frequency identification tags based on surface acoustic waves. The study is based on the tag model with specific topology, which allows us to receive a response signal with time–frequency information. This research considers the collision case for several passive tags. Therefore, the proposal is to analyze the possibility of using several distinctive signs like frequency and time. We consider the model of passive surface acoustic wave tag, which contains piezoelectric substrate, interdigital transducer, and consecutive orthogonal-frequency-coded structures, which are placed in time slots. Similar topology makes possible the reliability of increasing tag identification in the collision case

WatsaQ: Repository of Al Hadith in Bahasa (Case Study: Hadith Bukhari)

The Hadith is one of the two sources of Islamic law after the Qur'an. It is a fact that there are a number of false hadith, recognised by Muslim scholars since the end of the first century of Hijra, and even earlier. In addition to the breadth of false hadith circulating among the public at this  time,  it  is difficult to determine the source of authenticity and distinguish false  from genuine.  This  is  due  to  the  configuration of  the genuine documents which are revealed in Arabic. To that end, the  authors  have  built  a  repository  collection  of  hadith al- Bukhari in the Indonesian language. The hadith chosen have secured originality and standardisation has been applied that can assist users in learning the content of the hadith. The authors implemented a repository of translation in Bahasa of Bukhari Hadith using XML schema. To study the repository performance, we use a web presentation using PHP employing brute-force string match algorithms to display the search results based on keywords entered by the user. We analyse the results of our proposed repository implementation average searching time is faster by 0.85 milliseconds compared with the repository based on the unstructured one

Banking crime is one of the widespread phenomena in 2016 are closely associated with the used of computer-based technology and internet networks that constantly evolving. One of them is the burglary of customer accounts through the internet banking facility. To overcome this, we need a method of how to detect a conspiracy of bank burglary case of customer accounts. The way to scalable is by get a mining decision to get a decision tree and from the decision tree to get a decision attribute value to determine the level of anomalies. Then of all the attributes decision point is calculated rate of fraud. The rate of fraud is classified through level of security of attack by the attacker then entropy gain is used to calculate the relative effort between the level of attacks in the decision tree. The results show that the method could classify three levels of attacks and the corresponding entropy gains. The paper uses decision trees algorithm, alpha++ and dotted chart analysis to analyze an attack that can be scalable. The results of the analysis show that the accuracy achieved by 0.87%

    Get PDF
Multiscale entropy (MSE), an estimate of the complexity of physiological signals has been used for assessing diabetes status. This method requires much computation effort. Our study aimed to examine the Poincaré plot, an easier method for computation to differentiate the diabetes status. We selected subjects and divided them into three groups including the non- diabetes (HbA1c ≤ 6.5%, n=22), diabetes with good control (6.5% < HbA1c < 8%, n=23), and diabetes with poor control (HbA1c ≥ 8%, n=17). Poincaré method used consecutive 250 data points of PPG pulse amplitudes from each subject’s right index fingertip. This method resulted in SSR, the standard deviation of the original photoplethysmogram (PPG) pulse amplitude (SD1) and the standard deviation of the interval 1 PPG pulse amplitude (SD2) ratio. The SSR in the three groups of non-diabetes, diabetes with good control and diabetes with poor control were 0.50, 0.28, and 0.23, respectively and differed between groups (P < 0.05).  Our findings suggested that the Poincaré plot of right-hand PPG pulse amplitude may be convenient to evaluate diabetes status
