Correlation between Church Digital Ministry and Semarang Baptist Youth\u27s Spirituality
The spirituality of today\u27s young generation is very prone to be bad. The church needs to serve the younger generation in a way acceptable to them. This study aims to see the correlation between church digital ministry and the spirituality of Baptist youths throughout the city of Semarang. This research used quantitative approach with survey research methods. It shows that the Baptist churches\u27 digital ministries were in the medium category and the Baptist youth\u27s spirituality was in the moderate category, while digital ministry of the churches correlated strongly and positively to their youth\u27s spirituality
Dalihan Na Tolu Analogy as an Approach to Strengthen Men’s Ministry Role
Of all categorical ministry, men’s ministry are not as actively involved in the church ministry as others do. This article discusses the ways to strengthen men’s ministry role in the Batak Protestant Christian Church (HKBP) in present day through cultural approach. The research used cultural analogy approach. Data were collected by using observation and interviews. In analyzing the data, the researcher employed relevant literature sources such as books and journal articles. The research shows that the elements of Batak principles of Dalihan Na Tolu upholding a Batak person and his/her families of Hula-hula, Dongan Tubu, and Boru were found to be still relevant. The principle’s framework could be used as an approach to strengthen role of male church parishioners in the church by associating it with another three elements: the Church, Bibel (the Bible), and the family. Thus, Dalihan Na Tolu as a cultural principle is applicable to church ministry setting by association of: (1) the organized Church to Hula-hula, (2) the family to Boru, and (3) Bibel as Dongan Tub
Pastoral Strategy in Developing the Dimension of Understanding Generation Z
The research center numbers released the results of the 2021 survey, where generation Z has the smallest spiritual index of 3.50, while the spiritual index of Indonesia is 3.79. The index of understanding dimensions is low, namely 3.13 for self-image and 3.40 for motivation. This paper aims to find a new pastoral strategy in reaching generation Z for self-image restoration and motor development. The next goal is to build synergy with parents in spiritual growth. This study uses a qualitative method with data collection through literature study and observation. The argument is that shepherds play an essential role in developing the understanding dimension of Generation Z. The first step is to restore self-image with the Family Healing Movement with parents. The second thing is that pastors provide spiritual assistance to develop motivation and improve pastoral services on social media through counseling and training guidance. Her contribution; 1) pastors work together with parents to become inspirations and mediators in recovery, 2) spiritual practitioners take a fundamental part in social media, 3) maximize the pioneering of shepherding young people by new shepherds
Coenrad Laurens Coolen: Pioneer of Contextual Mission among Javanese Abangans
This historiographical article aims to describe Coolen as a pioneer of the indigenous church among the abangans in Ngoro, East Java in the 19th century, where he pioneered the ministry of indigenizing the gospel as an exciting new breakthrough. The discussion was conducted in stages of collecting historical data about Coolen, evaluating the obtained data, interpreting relevant data, and presenting the findings. The results show that Coolen was the initiator of the establishment of the ‘ngelmu’ Christian congregation among the abangans in Ngoro Village in the interior of East Java. He explained the secrets of ngelmu Kristen (lit., learning the Christianity) and appreciated Javanese culture as a new breakthrough in the ministry of preaching the gospel, compared to the Indische Kerk missionaries. However, some of his followers were more interested in joining Emde’s ministry pattern, so the outputs of his ministry were finally adopted into the Indische Kerk churches. The Role of Christians in The Correlation between The Notion of Lex Orandi, Lex Credendi, Lex Vivendi and The Commitment of Cape Town
Lex orandi, lex credendi, lex vivendi is conventional concepts of the Christian life, but those are still relevant to solve problems of modern society. The interconnectedness of worship (lex orandi), theology (lex credendi), life (lex vivendi) is emphasized in the Christian sphere. Nevertheless, God\u27s mission as the role of Christians was not highlighted in their relationship. The Commitment of Cape Town strongly stresses that Christians accomplishes God\u27s mission with holistic ways in domains of gospel, world, church. In this study, the notion of lex orandi, lex credendi, lex vivendi will be explained about relationship and interaction. Then the Commitment of Cape Town will be analyzed in detail in connection with lex orandi, lex credendi, lex vivendi. The researcher uses the literature review method with answer to one question, that is ‘what is the true role of Christians in the world?’ The result of this study concluded that when Christians stand before God holistically in the notion of lex orandi, lex credendi, and lex vivendi, Christians can live by accomplishing God\u27s mission in the church, with gospel, and into the world
Study the Conception of the Trinity in the Great Commission of the Gospel of Matthew 28:19-20
The Bible records differences in the formula of baptism. As Jesus taught in Matthew 28:19, those who believe should be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Meanwhile, in some parts of the Bible, the disciples command every believer to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. This study tries to describe the formula of baptism taught by Jesus. It is a descriptive research and used the Bible, books, and journals as the main sources. It is concluded that the formula of baptism in the name of Jesus does not contradict His teachings. However, because Jesus Himself taught that baptism must be in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, in practice, it is better to use the formula He had taught
Christian Ethics Regarding Cryptocurrency Investment
Cryptocurrency is a digital currency that utilizes blockchain technology to do investments. This study aims to provide answers for Christians on how to respond to Cryptocurrency investments from the perspective of Christian ethics. The research method used is through the library research approach. This study indicates that cryptocurrency itself as a new technology is an agnostic technology; rather, it is the attitude and motivation of a person that determines the suitability of cryptocurrency in a particular situation. Thus, pastors and believers can invest in cryptocurrency, depending on their motivations
The Influence of Christian Religious Education in Family and Parenting Styles on Adolescent Character Formation
This study aimed to test and prove through data collection that the formation of the character of Christ in adolescents is influenced by the implementation of Christian religious education in the family and parenting patterns. The research method used in this research was the survey method - correlational. Based on the data analysis, the results showed that: 1) Christian religious education in the family had a significant effect on the formation of the character of Christ in adolescents; 2) Parenting patterns have a significant effect on the formation of Christ\u27s character in adolescents; 3) Christian religious education in the family and parenting patterns together have a significant effect on the formation of the character of Christ. Thus, efforts to form the character of Christ in adolescents can be done by increasing the intensity of the implementation of Christian religious education in the family and increasing the right parenting pattern
Natural Theology and its Relevance to Religious Pluralism in Indonesia
Natural theology is an underdeveloped theological theme in the recent Indonesian theological scholarship. That fact is unfortunate considering the significance of the topic to the context of religious pluralism in Indonesia. Natural theology is interdisciplinary and interreligious in nature; thus, it might open scholarly discussion for scholars from many disciplines with diverse religious backgrounds. Spiritual Entrepreneurship: An Approach to Understanding Christian Spirituality in Market Place
Efforts to explore the spirituality of Christian work have become an urgent need, not because they want to compete with the spirituality of work that is currently going on in a secular manner, but as a form of fulfilling the Christian missionary call to "witness, preach the Gospel, and make disciples of all nations." Apart from being an effort to fulfill the call of Christian mission, studying the spirituality of Christian work also helps Christian workers to have a quality work ethic in their workplace, because they do it productively, independently and spiritually. Spiritual entrepreneurship was found to be the right choice that could meet the criteria and forms of Christian work spirituality needed. The method used in this research is literature study, namely by collecting data from books, the Bible, and online journals about Christian entrepreneurship, Christian work spirituality, and Christian work ethic. Spiritual entrepreneurship is the best choice as an embodiment of the spirituality of Christian work, because of the consideration of the underlying principles and values, its distinctive form, and its function and the possibility of a large positive impact it can generate
